Chapter 4

BRITTANY.

Though my father and step mother were against my decision, they had to let me return with Lycan King Aldar to his pack.

I had to make them understand and remembered that Lycan king Aldar wasn't one known to take no for an answer and even if I heeded their advice of running away, he would still find me as long as I was still on this planet.

"You knew I was your mate when we talked in the woods last night, right?" I tried to strike a conversation inside of the chariot as we headed back to his pack but he just remained pocket faced, almost like he was unwilling to answer me.

"You're not going to answer me? If you don't understand, I'm trying to—" His instant turn and sharp gaze on me made me shut my mouth immediately.

"I usually love enjoying my solitude and I wouldn't want anyone, and I mean anyone to ruin my solitude for me." He stated and I had no option than to nod.

"Alright." I mouthed and he pulled out a book from his bag and began reading while I tried to look into what he was reading.

He would prefer reading than conversing with his mate? I thought to myself.

"Yes, I would prefer reading over anything including breakfast, lunch and dinner." I subconsciously placed my hands over my mouth, did I say that out loud?

He didn't pay any attention to me anymore till we got to his pack and unlike what I expected from his pack due to the rumours, they were warm, lovely and welcoming.

"Amanda would show you around the palace and direct you to your room." He said and after conversing with the lady maid in whispers, she beamed in smiles and walked over to me while the guards took my things inside of the packs palace.

"It is an honor for me to be welcoming Luna and even being her guide." She squealed immediately, easing off my skeptical look.

"I know all of this feels strange due to the fact that you had to leave your family but trust me, you would love it here. May I?" She stretched her hands out and I nodded, placing my hands in hers.

"Of course."

"I'll just give you a brief run through on where you would be hosting your activities and mainly be seen." She said and I nodded though I didn't have the slightest inkling of what she was talking about.

"Now, here is Luna's quarters. You'd be free to sleep in any of the rooms you want, anywhere, anytime. All of it and the belongings inside belong to Luna." She said I gushed.

It was a damned castle and it belonged just to the Luna? Wow.

"Amanda, who are you bringing to the castle? It's not for commoners, sorry." The lady nodded at me sarcastically while Amanda smiled.

"Sorry, Nora but this is actually the Luna. She's a tour guide for me." The lady whose name I had confirmed to be Nora turned to stare sharply at me from head to toe.

"This? This is the Luna? Yeah, that's a bad joke." She commented and I swallowed.

Hold on, is there a reason I'm acting like I can't slam this lady's face into a wall?

"Is it a bad joke? Or you simply can't tell that she isn't joking?" I stepped up placing myself between Amanda and Nora as I glared at her.

"I have to get settled after the tour guide and I must admit that I am tired, famished and allergic to people who don't think before speaking. So if you can get out of my way before I push you out of my way, it would be so nice." I expressed and she stared in shock.

"Push me out of the way? Do you know me?" The lady snapped and I gulped down nothing.

"I don't and that makes it easier for me to bash your face into the nearest wall." I shot back and a guard came forward to bow before me.

"Luna, sorry for interrupting your guide but the council would want to see you in 30 minutes." I didn't understand what he meant so I looked at Amanda for some help.

"Yes, she'll be ready before the time." The guard nodded and ran back.

"Wait, she really is the Luna?" Nora questioned but I didn't have the time, energy or self control to answer her question so I walked away nudging her out of my way while Amanda trailed me.

"I know i'm not supposed to get all friendly with you since you're of a higher status than I am but what you did out there was so cool. No one has ever grown the balls to put her in her place." Amanda commented and I smiled.

"I have people who act like higher bitches more than her so yeah, she's something I can handle." I stated and Amanda led me to a room.

"I picked this particular room because it's bigger, wider and the bed is more comfier. Also, the window faces the town directly so you'll have a good view." Amanda said and I nodded.

"Alright." I sat on the bed forcing myself not to think that I had made a very huge decision by coming here.

"Okay, so we have to do our best to get you ready as soon as we can." She briefed me on what I was to expect from the council after which I went to freshen up and she dressed me in a very fine linen.

"Thank you." I mouthed when she was done making my hair and I smiled.

I stated at my reflection in the mirror and I gasped again. I never knew I would ever look so pretty in my life, I looked so good.

Few minutes later we were on our way to the main palace where I was to meet with the council of elders. I knew that once I met them, my duty as a Luna would begin, I was ready. At least I think I am.

"I can't go beyond this place, you won't lose your way. Just keep moving forward, the place the hallway ends is where the hall is." I nodded and kept walking. I know they gave me 30 minutes but I was here early.

As I got to the end of the hallway, I heard voices and I smiled in satisfaction knowing that I hadn't lost my way.

The door to the hall was closed so I wasn't sure if I was to knock or just push it open.

"It's a good thing you found your mate." Someone said and I smiled.

"It is. She would be very valuable to me. After birthing my pups, she would be used as the sacrifice for the elevation of my curse." I didn't know what that meant but maybe it's a good thing?

Is it? He was cursed?

"You do know that if she's killed as your sacrifice, you won't be able to get another mate right?" A knot twisted in my stomach when I finally understood.

"I can live with that." He stated and I felt my world spiralling.
