Chapter 3

BRITTANY

"I'm so sorry, my Lord." I prostrated hoping that I hadn't already put myself in a situation where I was going to be staked and punished for belittling an Alpha and not just any Alpha but one that had ascended to the Lycan throne.

"There's no use prostrating." He rolled his eyes and I bit the insides of my tongue. He was also sarcastic, how beautifully disgusting was that.

"Shouldn't you be back at the pack with the other maidens trying to find your mate?" He questioned and I wondered if he wasn't getting the scent I was getting, he was my second chance mate but could it be that he didn't know?

"Yeah, I'm not sure if I want to be like other maidens and stand there waiting for someone to claim me as his mate like I was some damsel in distress." Of course that wasn't my reason but he didn't deserve to know if he couldn't notice that I was his mate.

Is his wolf dormant or something?

"I see." He shrugged his shoulders and closed his eyes again like he was meditating.

I began to walk away and they didn't call out or anything. All men would practically be the same in my eyes henceforth.

"Brittany, what has come over you?" My dad yelled the instant I stepped foot into the house. They were supposed to be at the hurdle so I was shocked to the bones when the lights came on.

"Dear heavens, dad, you scared me." I gasped, placing my hands on my chest as I took deep breaths to regulate my heart beat.

"That isn't the answer to my question." He snapped and I stared at the faces of my stepmom and step sisters.

"I'm sorry Dad but you didn't ask a question." I stated and though it hurt to disrespect my dad like that, I just had to do it. I couldn't afford to be the golden child in this life, it would all result in one end.

"You rejected your mate immediately you saw him and worst of all, he's the Alpha. What were you thinking?" My dad's voice was hoarse and filled with anger.

"Nothing, I wasn't even thinking. I just thought he would be a better match for Aria, I can't afford to put my life in harm's way when—" I stopped when I remembered that they would have no idea what I was even saying so I just kept my lips pursed.

"What are you saying?" My stepmom reiterated and I just shook my head in negativity while my dad just snarled at me.

"Nothing."

"Tomorrow morning the royal house would be here and you would make an apology to the Alpha for the humiliation and accept him as your mate. For now, you're quite lucky his wolf hasn't accepted the rejection yet." I frowned and stepped back.

"I won't do that." I started and my dad grimaced.

"Do you dare to talk back to me?" I bit my tongue and nodded my head. This was absolute disrespect but there was nothing I could do.

"I'm sorry Dad but I won't apologize to Alpha for rejecting him. I also want this wolf to accept my rejection because I don't want to be his mate." I said and ran up to my room, bolting the door; I lay back down on my bed trying to shut my brain down and not think of anything that had happened.

It was impossible though not to think of the overheating situations that I have found myself in but then, I was determined to make it right in this life. My life wasn't going to be cut short, not in this life.

"Sister, please open up the door." I heard Arias voice and hatred coursed through my veins.

"You have your room, don't you Aria? Go away." I snapped harshly and pressed my pillow over my ears while begging sleep to take over me.

I was awakened the next morning by my stepmom tapping me lightly on the leg.

"Mum." I yawned and stretched.

"Bri, what's going on? This isn't how you have always been, and I mean all the nonchalant attitude, all the talking back to your bed." For some reason I was expecting this so I just stayed mute.

"Your father calls for you." I nodded and stood up, washing my face inside of the toilet. I descended the stairs and halted when I saw the Alpha, his son Alpha Luian and Luna.

Why could they not just accept it or was the humiliation that much?

"Brittany, come over here." My dad beckoned and I just sighed before walking over to meet him.

"You have something to say to the Alpha's son, don't you?" He smiled sweetly and I raised a brow before shaking my head.

"No, I don't." I simply said and Luna sighed.

"Is something wrong with you, girl? The Alpha lineage is one that you should be grateful to join and you had to humiliate myself in public. He's the one that is supposed to reject you." She snapped and I nodded.

"Well then, he has the right to accept the rejection to sever the ties properly." She raised her hands as she stood up and was about to slap me when I closed my eyes waiting for the sting.

"Don't do that." We heard a voice that was unfamiliar, yet dry, hoarse and felt like I might have heard it somewhere.

"Alpha Aldar." She muttered and I smiled, opening my eyes.

"Were you just trying to hit another woman? Besides, it's Lycan king Aldar to you." His expression remained poker faced but I couldn't help but notice how an instant chilling fell on everyone. It was more like his presence was so intimidating and bestowed fear on them.

"I'm so sorry, my Lord."

"What brings you to my house, my Lord?" My dad questioned and I tugged my skin.

"I came to take my mate with me." Everyone's eyes widened when he said that and I bit my lips again, so he already knew I was his mate but refused to say anything about it.

"We'll be right back." My dad signalled me to follow him which I did and we went to my room.

"Of course, you will be." Lycan king Aldar said and I couldn't help but wonder how he had already gotten to Lycan king level. He was so young, just like Luian's age and Luian wasn't even a certified Alpha yet.

"Bri, I need you to run, hide wherever you can't be found. Just leave." My dad said hastily opening my wardrobe and pulling my gowns and clothes off the rack.

"Dad, what do you mean?" I was confused by his actions so I had to ask.

"I would not have you mating with that kind of man. You must have already heard the rumors." My dad snapped, horror evident in his face.

"Dad, exactly. That's what you're missing. It's just rumours, it doesn't mean that it's actually true. I mean, look at him, he's so young. Why would you even believe that he would brutally kill anyone he feels like killing?" I questioned and my dad raised his hands like he would hit me before bringing his hands back down.

"I'm going with him, dad. I will be his mate." I started and my dad stared at me like I had just betrayed everything he believed in.

I was also scared of death but then leaving with Lycan King Aldar would prevent my death that was supposed to happen at this pack at the hand of my step sister.
