Shannon realized she couldn't force herself upon Lucas.

She covered her face and left the bedroom with teary eyes.

She then went downstairs and wept on the couch. Before long, her cries drew the attention of Josie.

Witnessing Shannon's cries, Josie figured her son had said something hurtful.

She approached Shannon and gently patted her shoulder, "Don't cry, Shannon. Luke is just not in a good mood right now. I know his words can be a little harsh.

"I apologize on his behalf. His temper was much worse than it is now when he first lost his sight. He drove away many caretakers, but Chelsey persevered. If she could do it, so can you."

Shannon grew hopeful at this. "Can I really do it, Josie?"

"Of course, I believe you."

Josie sighed and continued, "Luke refused to sleep with Chelsey throughout the three years they were married. I'm sure it must be because of his love for you. You have to trust in him. He's still recovering. Please forgive him."
