Emily's POV

As Max pulled me with him down the dock to the small pair of swinging doors, I felt my stomach turn with a strange but familiar feeling of nausea.

"Max," I called, feeling weak, and my legs felt like they would give way anything soon.

He barely heard me as he kept rushing down the way.

"Max!"

Max let out a curse as he bumped into an elderly lady and shoved her out of his way, pulling me with him.

I gave the woman an apologetic smile as I was being whisked away.

My stomach grumbled, and I felt the sudden wave of nausea wash over me.

The stale, humid air pressed in on me from all sides, mingling with the scent of the salty sea.

I gripped a metal pole tightly to gain stability, hoping the feeling would pass, but my stomach churned even more violently as Max pulled me harder.

"Max, I feel sick," I mumbled, but he only clenched his teeth.

"You can ease off in the ship. We have to leave now. I can't waste any time."

My vision blurred, and my head started to spin.
