Emily's POV

As I stared into the mirror, I was sure that I looked like a wreck.

My swollen face almost scared me off. I stared at my tangled hair in irritation and ran a weary hand through it.

I felt anxious and pumped up today, compared to mood for the past week.

As much as I had a sense of dread for what Lola planned to tell us, my ears itched to be let in on what had happened to my daughter and her whereabouts.

As I ran a hand through the nest on my head wearily, my attention was drawn to Eric, who grabbed a comb and slowly ran it through my hair.

My heart melted at his actions, and I forced a smile in his direction.

He had been instrumental in my remaining sane for the past few days since I was rescued from Max.

I couldn't believe I had almost lost him due to my short-sightedness towards his good behaviour.

Turning towards him, I stood to my tiptoe and placed a small kiss on his cheeks.
