Asher-

I looked down at the girl's unconscious form gathered in my arms again for the second time tonight. Her mouth was shut, her lips appearing soft, and yet I knew they harbored a tongue that was sharper than paper.

"Good, you caused her to pass out again." I heard Joshua comment.

"Boy, you sure have a way with women." He added further and shook his head.

"Must be that sunny charismatic Alpha Male charm."

"Are you done?" I snapped before I could think about it.

Joshua raised his hands, his palms opened to the night sky and shrugged.

I scoffed and looked down at the girl again. She appeared so pure and innocent, but I imagined she needed a sign of CAUTION: EXPLOSIVE WHEN AWAKE taped to her forehead. The chick was insane, and not what I wanted to deal with at all in this moment.

"Hello, earth to Asher!!!" Joshua called out.

I blinked and looked at him, bored.

"Geez, for a wolf that claims to detest his human mate, you sure do a lot of staring."

His comment suddenly made the

Asher- The girl was still sleeping in my bed. My bed. A place which hasn't been occupied by another extra body since... This girl was already invading my space a little too much. I needed to figure out how to handle her situation before getting rid of her completely. I didn't need a mate. No one would ever replace... The girl sighed and hummed in her sleep. Why was she so dang familiar in mannerism to...? No. No she wasn't. This girl was toxic. I could tell. She talks back, has an attitude, and she's human. I didn't have the patience to deal with breaking a human into our world. If she wasn't smart enough to accept the fact that regular humans were not in fact on top of the food chain, then I wouldn't be able to help her. "Alpha?" I heard Josh's voice outside my door before he gave three firm knocks. I instantly had a headache. "Alpha, sorry to disturb you, but it's urgent." Joshua spoke again. Maybe if I stayed really quiet, he would think that I'm asleep. I didn't have the

Narrator- "Nanda?" Aunt May called out while approaching Miranda's resting figure on the Alpha's bed. "Nanda." May called again, sitting carefully, while placing her palms on top of Miranda's right hand. "Miranda, wake up." May cooed softly, shaking Miranda's hand. Miranda mumbled in her sleep, her brow furrowing slightly. "Come on Nanda, wake up." May encouraged, though her tone was slightly anxious. Miranda hummed then sighed, before her eyelids slowly opened. Aunt May's picture was the first thing Miranda saw, and for a moment she felt at ease. She knew that she must've been dreaming, and aunt May was now waking her up. Aunt May smiled down at Miranda, who smiled in return while silently thinking that her brain had made up the entire kidnapping at the club. But then, in the corner of her eyes, appearing a few steps behind her aunt, Miranda saw him. Miranda's pupils flooded with a troubled gaze, her eyebrows frowning with panic. She drew in a quick breath and pushed herself of

Dillon breathed out, as if he misheard Elaine. "You asked what I wanted, and I said I want a kiss." Elaine clarified. "Why?" Dillon wondered. "What do you mean 'why'?" Her fingers began to press down on his windpipe. Dillon stiffened and squeaked. "Wait-" he half-begged and half-squeaked all at once. Elaine pressed further. Dillon's wrists pulled at their restraints, but his actions were futile. When his face paled, his mouth ran dry, and his eyelids started to blink groggily, Elaine released his neck with an angered grunt, and walked away. Narrator-Elaine returned from the shower, dressed in a sheer white bathrobe. She tied the bands around her slim waist, but the cloth itself barely did anything to hide her nudity underneath. Her black hair had been towel-dried and was now plaited on the right side of her neck. She wore a rose-scented perfume. When she closed the door behind her, Dillon's tears had dried up. He leaned his head against the dresser, his face looking away from Elaine. He blinked softly and gulped timidly. Though he appeared lost in his thoughts, his accelerating heartbeat was enough warning that the vampire was mentally preparing for and fearing another possible assault from the huntress.Elaine noted the thrumming of Dillon's heartbeat in the border of his carotid, and she rolled her eyes."Relax Dilly-boy, I'm not in the mood." Narrator-Alpha Asher backed away from the handmade crib, and stood at a distance with his arms crossed, as he admired his handiwork. The crib was painted white, the wood itself included carved images of wolves, stars, and the different phases of the moon. Asher smiled proudly, as he looked around the room decorated with shades of blue and yellow. The furnished space had everything necessary for a nursery, plush toys sat atop every furniture, and a mobile spun above the crib, with tiny wolves, moons, and pine trees. There was a nursing chair sitting in the corner next to the crib. There was also a small shelf, packed with books and bedtime stories.Aside from the child-friendly decorations, there were also photographs of the Alpha and Luna. The Luna's pregnancy shots were also displayed, as well as that of the Luna and Alpha in wolf form, near the lake that bordered the pack on the north end. The room was kept warm, the lights soft. Everything a baby needs to feel comfortable. Asher pl

Narrator-*6 Months Later*Miranda exited the yellow cab, as the driver, an elderly gentleman wearing a gray patterned flat cap, opened the trunk to retrieve the two small luggage that Miranda carried on her trip.Lacing the duffel back across her back, Miranda took the crumpled forty dollars cash she had stuffed in her back pocket, and handing it to the driver with a small, "Thanks."The driver nodded in her direction with a smile, then he hopped back into the car, and drove away. Miranda sighed, looking at the receding cab, before turning her eyes back to the small white cottage-like home that belonged to her aunt. The front was painted white, with two large windows, adorned by red and yellow flowers that were planted in the bed below the windowsill. Grabbing her luggage, Miranda began heading towards the front door. The front yard had green grass, along with various plants placed around the yard, surrounded by large beige rocks. There was a coconut tree growing near the far-right co

Narrator-Miranda opened the two-door 1978 Mint Green Beetle, the driver's door squeaking at it's hinges, as if the underlying rust surrounding it's frame wasn't enough to display it's vintage years. At the sound, Miranda winced internally. She sent a quick look towards her aunt, who seemed more excited than Miranda, then towards the Mechanic, who's furrowed brow told Miranda that parting with this car wasn't easy. Miranda carefully lowered herself into the beige-colored fabric seat, and instantly sighed in comfort. She turned her legs into the vehicle, then she closed the door.Noticing that the young girl was settled in the car, Bill the mechanic walked around to the passenger's side where he opened the door with the aim of entering the car as well."Not so fast Bill," Aunt May spoke up, "take the backseat," she continued, "if you're taking this car for a test drive, I want to be there too."Bill opened his mouth to protest, but then paused. Miranda- I approached the car with a smile and instantly recognized the giddy grin on Jamie's lips. "Nanda, can I call you Nanda?" Was how Jamie greeted me as soon as I entered her white Jeep Wrangler. "Uh sure." I giggled slightly. "Cool," she pepped, "Nanda you look great! I think you'll fit right into the scene. No one will notice that you're new." "Fresh meat, you mean?" I echoed her words from earlier. "Well, now that you mention it, it may not be hard to see that you are a bit... different." Jamie stated hesitantly, her vision looking my way for a brief second, before focusing back on the road ahead. "Different how? I mean everyone will mostly be young, the only difference is that they stay up until the sunrise, when usually I'd be asleep." I imagined and Jamie released a short laugh. "Well, that may not be the only thing that sets you apart from the rest." She replied after her laughter died down. "Do I want to know...?" I trailed off, my fingers finding interest in eac

Narrator- "Is that so?" Damien wondered, while sitting back in his chair, "and who is she?" "A human girl." Elaine replied, while perched on her father's desk. "A human?" Damien echoed in question. "Yep." Elaine said with popping emphasis on the 'P', "saw her with my own eyes and everything." "Well, this is quite interesting." Damien mused, "How was he with her?" "What do you mean?" "His behavior," Damien clarified, "did he seem happy to have a new mate?" "Oh no. He hates her guts." Elaine commented with a smile, then she added, "For a second I thought he was going to rip her throat out." "Really?" Damien questioned. "Yeah, but then George showed up and long story short, the girl is with Asher now." Elaine recounted. "George, that meddling snake." Damien noted, his fists instantly tightening. Elaine didn't comment on her father's words about George, nor did she show any emotion. "How do you want me to proceed?" Elaine demanded instead. Damien looked at his daughter and l

  • Out of the Ashes   Chapter 10

Narrator- Miranda remained as still as a blade of grass in the absence of wind. She kept her forehead pressed against the glass window, and her eyesight glued to the rushing trees that bordered her side of the road. Her lungs performed soft, almost inaudible breaths, while she avoided even the subtlest of movements, including blinking. The more time Miranda spent becoming less human and more of a statue, the more time was allotted for her brain to connect the dots from the first night she spent at Georgie's. It seemed that her jogged memory was becoming more lucid, rather than a figment of a dreamy imagination. Across from the mute human, Asher's growing restlessness was evident. The vein on his forehead was throbbing, and his left lower eyelid began its comical twitching act. Asher's knuckles were ready to pop out of their joints from holding the steering wheel too tightly. The Alpha male tried to take in a few deep breaths, but the suffocating scent of sweet, ripe oranges, filled

  • Out of the Ashes   Chapter 9

Narrator- Alpha Asher casually gathered Miranda's limp form in his arms, along with her fallen keys and purse. Her head naturally leaned against his chest, and the moment her hair grazed against Asher's skin, he gladly breathed in a whiff of her natural scent. She smelled like sweet ripe oranges in the summer. Asher smiled and crossed the street, towards his SUV. He walked around the passenger side only to stop in his tracks when he noticed Joshua standing against the door with his arms crossed and a knowing smirk on his lips. "What are you smiling about?" Asher demanded before approaching Joshua, silently telling him to move away. "Dude, you're way too predictable." Joshua scolded playfully while shaking his head. "Am I now?" Asher asked in return, while Joshua opened the door and the Alpha carefully placed Miranda on the passenger seat, before buckling in her seatbelt. "Well I'm here, aren't I?" Joshua opened his arms and shrugged. Asher returned Joshua's comment with a dead pa

Narrator- While the apprised aunt and her oblivious niece shared lunch, across town in Georgie's lounge, the bar owner received an unexpected guest. The assassin snuck her way into the building and prepared to catch George off guard. But before she could make her final move, her plan was exposed. "I know it's you, Elaine." George spoke, while he saw to organizing the bar. Elaine, a tall, pale-skinned woman with long raven black hair and aqua blue globes suddenly dropped behind George. She wore all leather clothing, her lips painted blood red. "Georgie." she greeted with a traitorous smile. "And to what do I owe this pleasure?" George kept his voice neutral but continued on with his task. "Now, now is that any way to treat the daughter of the Mayor? Not to mention an old friend?" Elaine questioned with a cock of her head. George sighed and stood straight. He turned and faced Elaine who smiled her pearly white teeth along with her fangs. "That's better." She mused. "Why are you
