Melissa.
Alan was standing before me.
Alan, who I met last night and who had stirred different things inside me that I didn’t know existed. Alan, whose single touch had sent shivers down my body. Alan, who I couldn’t stop thinking and dreaming about last night was here and he looked perfect in his blue robe as he watched me.
And he is my stepbrother? I asked myself, almost screaming loudly inside my head. Of all people that could be my stepbrother, why him?
“What are you doing here?” I blurted out immediately when I couldn’t contain my shock any longer. When he lifted an eyebrow and made to come forward, I shook my head, hating myself for sounding stupid.
“What?” He asked, a smile creeping up on the side of his lips. “What did you say?”
“I asked why you are here.” I repeated, trying my best not to look at his beautiful face, even though that was the only thing I had thought about throughout the night.
“Apparently, I am going to be living here.” He replied, amusement in his voice.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you were the Luna’s son?” I asked again, gaining the courage to look at him. He raised an eyebrow, making me look up at his lush black hair that was pleading to be touched.
“My family tree wasn’t a topic of interest when we had our conversation last night.” He replied. When he saw the look on my face change, he cleared his throat, getting rid of the smirk on his lips. “I didn’t know you were the alpha’s daughter either.” He added.
I sighed in frustration, not because of what he said, but because of what his presence was doing to me at the moment. My gaze shifted from his face and caught sight of my training kit sitting prettily on his wardrobe door. Without saying a word to him, I hurried to it, picked up the outfit and dashed out of the room.
Swearing under my breath, I got to my room and locked the door gently behind me, hating the trouble that the moongoddess was placing before me.
Recalling that I was going to be late if I didn’t hurry up, I quickly got dressed in my training kit, took a last look at myself in the dressing mirror before leaving the room, thankful that I didn’t bump into Alan on the stairway.
I heard the chattering coming from the dining room and knew immediately that my father was having breakfast with his new family. I tiptoed quietly and tried to sneak out through the back door when I heard my father clearing his throat behind me. I turned, only to see him holding a mug of coffee in his right hand and a newspaper in his left.
“Join us for breakfast, Mel.” He said to me. It wasn’t a request but an order that came out in the most pleasant way possible. I smiled and walked into the room, ignoring the gaze of my new family members while I sat.
“Hello Melissa” Freya and her mother greeted me at the same time and I smiled politely at them.
"Hello, good morning."
During the course of the breakfast, I listened to their conversation, lost in deep thoughts. My father tried his best to involve me in the dialogue, but I only nodded and smiled when I had to. Few moments later, I looked at the clock again and stood from the table, excusing myself without even eating any of the slices of bacon Ciara had placed before me.
“Melissa.” My father called softly when I was at the door and I turned again, making sure my eyes was only on him. He walked towards me and leaned in, placing a kiss on my forehead.
“Happy birthday, my love.” He said out loud so that others could hear him. “Here is to finding your wolf and mate today and may they be perfect.”
I smiled at him, kissing him on the cheeks. Freya and Ciara said happy birthday to me and I returned the smile also, wanting nothing more than to disappear out of the room.
“Happy birthday, Melissa.” Alan called to me, forcing me to look at him. He lifted his mug towards me with a pleasant smile pasted on his face. “I hope you find your mate today and may he be perfect.”
I raised an eyebrow at the glint in his eyes, but said nothing in return. When he used his right thumb to sensually rub off the bacon sauce from his lips knowing fully well that I was looking at him, that was all I needed to run away from the room.
I continued walking without looking back till I got to the gate of the alpha house and from there, I took to my heels.

The professor left the training hall after the first round of class to allow us take a break and I collapsed on the ground. Chloe, my best friend turned to look at me with a smile on her face, her elbow supporting her head.
“Don’t worry.” She said to me. “When you get your wolf later on, you will have the strength to do more than four trainings sessions at once especially since the blood of an alpha runs through your veins.”
I rolled my eyes at her, before jumping to my feet and excusing myself to use the restroom. As I walked across the hall, I ignored the looks the other students threw my way, knowing fully well that the training kit tightened my body and brought out all my curves.
Once inside the bathroom, I turned to the dressing mirror and sighed at the image in front of me. There was a pack of tissue by the side so I drew one out and was using it to clean off the sweat on my temple when I felt an immediate heaviness in my chest that didn’t last for long before returning to normal.
Surprised at what it was, I ignored it and continued to clean off the sweat, with Alan and his handsome face still occupying my thoughts.
“Well, hello Melissa.” Someone said to me and I jumped in surprise, turning back immediately to see whom it was.
“It is me, silly.” The voice spoke again. “It is your wolf.”
I stared hard at the mirror, allowing myself to get used to the lovely voice, before smiling sweetly at my reflection. “Well, took you long enough.” I said.
She chuckled at my statement and I felt immediately connected to her. “My name is Lia, by the way.” She said again.
“You have a name?” I asked, genuinely surprised. “I thought I was supposed to give you one.”
“No, I have a name. Mother named me before she died.” She answered and I nodded my head slowly, falling in love with the name already.
“Lia, it is.” I replied. “I like it.”
With excitement in my heart, I walked happily out of the bathroom, chatting with Lia, already figuring out how to do so without moving my lips. I walked towards the class and was about to take the turn back to the training hall, when a strong smell of vanilla mixed with marshmallows enveloped me.
I shrugged off the scent, thinking it was coming from the cafeteria and continued my journey, but the scent came back, stronger this time around.
“Mate!” Lia screamed with joy, startling me. I widened my gaze, looking around the hall to check if I would see who she was referring to.
“Where is he?” I asked. “I cannot find him.”
“Well, follow the scent, silly.” She murmured, laughing with joy. I indulged her and the scent led me to the corner of the registrar’s office, where Freya and Alan stood, chatting excitedly with each other.
I turned away immediately, not wanting him to see me, but Lia shouted excitedly again, making me to turn back to look at him. As if noticing that I was standing there, he looked towards my direction, his lips curling into an arrogant smirk. When he waved slightly at me, my heart began to beat heavily against my chest.
“Mate!” Lia screamed excitedly at me again. “He is our mate.”
Melissa“No.” I whispered softly to myself. There was no way on earth that the moongoddess would do this to me after so many years of waiting. There was no way Alan, my stepbrother, would be my mate.Still looking at Alan and his raised hand, I turned away again, not moving an inch from the spot. As I stood quietly, I noticed footsteps behind me and from the excited giggles from Lia, I was definitely sure it was Alan coming towards me.Closing my eyes and sighing in distress, I took to my heels, ignoring the surprised stares everyone threw at me. At the entrance of the school, no one, not even the security personnel spoke to me as I ran out of the gates. I was the alpha’s daughter afterall, and the alpha was the only one allowed to scold me.I ran as fast as my legs could carry me through the pack houses, until I was close to the woods, away from where living creatures occupied.“Where are we headed, Melissa?” Lia asked, but I shook my head, still running.“We are not heading anywhere;
MelissaI kept tossing and turning during the night, thinking of the implications of not just having two men, but two mates. The fact that I was sexually drawn to both men made the situation even worse for me.They were both very different; I continued to think as I lay on my side. While Alan had the god-like sexy look that was harsh to the eyes, the other one whose name I later found out to be Zach from one of my party guests, had a calmer look. His lush brown hair was perfectly styled backward on his head, while his eyes had been a dark color of blue that I could tell shone brightly like the sea.“Damn it.” I groaned, sitting up on my bed again, my hair already ruffled from constant touching. I stared hard at my door, reminding myself that Alan was sleeping just few steps away from my room. I could go to him and beg him to take me roughly on his bed throughout the entire night. But that wouldn’t speak well of me, I recalled. He was my step brother and even though the moongoddess had
Zachary's Point Of View.It was impossible to look away from her.Even though there were more than twenty students in the class, it was difficult to look anywhere else but at her. The other night her scent had called to me from the shadows and no matter how much I had tried not to think about her, her beautiful face and breathtaking figure kept coming to my mind. Why had the moongoddess made this young irresistibly beautiful female my mate? Why had she made me so attracted to her that it was difficult to look away? And most importantly, why was my fated mate a student and also the daughter of the alpha of the pack?Yesterday, I had watched her shift to her wolf for the first time. I had seen the proud eyes of her father when he touched her shiny white furs and my heart couldn’t help but admire how fast she had run into the woods. Now that she was finally in front of me, I could no longer think. And it was very dangerous to be thinking nasty thoughts about your student, while standing i
Melissa's Point Of View. We’ll see! I exclaimed in my heart. Of all the things he could have said to me, it was we’ll see?“Well, we will see, Mister Professor, who thinks he is all that.” I said, walking out of the training hall. To hell with the insufferable mates the moongoddess had bestowed upon me. One was hovering around me, causing me to have wet dreams about him, while the other was acting rude and cold, even though throughout the training session, he had been staring at me like I was the only person in the room.Shaking my head, I walked through the hallway, ignoring my friends and even my other classmates as they greeted me on my way out. Inside the changing room, I changed back into my normal school outfit while thinking about the conversation I just had with the new professor.I shook my head as I remembered the way he had stared at me during the class, knowing fully well that he was only trying to put on a tough front. The door to the changing room opened and Freya walked
Alan’s Point Of ViewShe fit perfectly like a glove in my arms, almost like she belonged there. My eyes drifted to her lips, one that seemed like it was begging to be kissed. Her lips had been the first things I had noticed on that night in the garden and, since then, I found myself on countless occasions, dreaming of doing too many things to her.It was still weird that someone could connect with me this fast. When my mother had announced to my sister and I, her decision to merge with Redmoon pack, I had been so disturbed and furious with her. But my anger disappeared the night my wolf sensed Melissa while she stood by the garden door, looking like the princess that she was. My anger disappeared the first time I had a conversation with her and since then, I have wanted to have many conversations with her, even though she always dismisses me.Why has the moongoddess made my stepsister my mate, and what was this obsession I was having towards her? I have asked myself numerous times, but
Melissa’s Point Of ViewI sat with my father and the leader of his warrior organization as they strategized and planned on how to guard the pack during the full moon which would be taking place tomorrow. The full moon is the night everyone of shifting age changes into their wolf forms and take a run in the woods. It was the only night in every month where pack members are given the opportunity to do whatever they wished without any fear of being punished. For years, I have felt terribly lonely whenever my father and the other servants of shifting age leave for the shifting square without me.But now, I would not only be going with them tomorrow, I would also get the chance to see other people shift into their wolf forms and that made me very happy. Chloe and I had planned to go for a run further into the woods and although it was considered a dangerous thing to do, I was really looking forward to doing it.My inner wolf began to dance with joy suddenly and my mind jumped back into the
Melissa’s Point Of View.“The professor is here.” Freya whispered to Chloe and me, as we stretched in the training hall. My heart skipped a beat as she said those words and I stood to my full height to watch him walk into the class. He was putting on his training clothes and very white sneakers that glittered on the floor. On his wrist was a gold wristwatch that I surprisingly couldn’t peel my eyes off no matter how hard I tried.Professor Zach walked through the aisle of the hall, nodding his head to the greetings of the other students and also smiling at them. I scoffed silently in my mind, wondering why he seemed to know how to smile to others, but frowned anytime he talked to me.“He is so handsome,” Freya said as she watched him. I turned to look at her sweaty face, only to see a very bright and dreamy smile on them. Rolling my eyes with disdain, I focused my attention back on the professor who was now standing on the raised podium located at the far end of the training ground.“
Melissa’s Point Of ViewI kept staring at Freya’s back in anger as she walked before me to the school gate. She could have given me just one minute to see what the professor would do. I had needed just one minute to see what that intense gaze between him and I would lead to. By now, Professor Zach and I could have been kissing each other in the hall, or we could have at least had a conversation about our mating bond. If only Freya had given me just one more minute.Shaking my head, I allowed my mind to focus on the present, realizing that if she had also given us that one minute, she might have caught us in an inappropriate situation that I might not have known how to handle. As soon as we got out of the school gate, someone pulled me away to the side and I gasped into Chloe’s face, surprised as hell. “What is the matter with you?” I asked, placing a hand on my chest.Chloe pointed at something with her index finger and I followed her direction, only to see Alan leaning on his car, we
MelissaIt was Alan’s coronation ceremony, and we were all gathered in the shifting square to witness the occasion. I stood sandwiched between Freya and Chloe, who looked at the podium Alan stood with love in their eyes. It was difficult for me to concentrate on the event though, because I kept thinking of Zachary even though it had been two weeks since his death, but I stood there, looking on like everyone else. The sorceress performed her incantations on Alan and after putting on the alpha robe on his body, she invited the spirit of all alphas before him to dwell on him. At that moment, he shifted into his wolf form, to show that the process was now complete, and everyone bowed their heads in respect to him. Alan’s wolf howled into the sky, his sound the only thing being heard in the shifting square, and I closed my eyes, already feeling the impact of his strength around me. When he was done, he shifted back into his human form and the warriors gathered around him to cover his naked
MelissaAfter twenty minutes of crying and holding Zachary in my arms, I finally found the courage to crawl to my father’s table and press the button underneath it for the servants. Zachary still laid on the floor in his pool of blood and as for his heart, I kept holding it in my hands because it reminded me of the fact that I was the one who killed him. It didn’t take up to twenty minutes for Jackie and one of the servants to appear in the room and they both froze at the sight in front of them. “Melissa?” Jackie called softly as she came forward to kneel beside me, ignoring the blood and Zachary’s body. “What happened here?”“I did what I had to.” I responded, allowing my gaze to settle on Zachary again. This time around, I felt no more pain because I had stayed long enough with him in that state.“Is this why the sorceress came today?” Jackie asked. “She wanted you to kill him?”I nodded my head in response, before looking up to the other servant who was still shaken up by the whol
MelissaLike a ghost, I walked weakly into the house, surprised that my legs could carry me despite how weak they were. I wanted to scream at the moongoddess, wanted to bawl my eyes out, but the more I thought about killing one of my mates with my own hands, the weaker I felt to even do any of those things. The maids watched me with intrigue as I walked, but I ignored them as if they were not even present. While taking the stairs one at a time, Jackie rushed to meet me and with her right hand, turned me to face her. I forced myself to focus on her face, seeing that she had on an expression of worry and concern, so in order to ease it, I offered her a genuine smile.“What did she want?” Jackie asked, her eyes scanning the entire house to make sure Zachary wasn’t anywhere close. I took her hand off my arms and shrugged my shoulders in response to her question.“Tell me, Melissa.”“She just wanted to confirm something from me. it is not a big deal.”“I heard her say something about you h
MelissaI shuddered at his words and the meaning behind them, just realizing for the first time that he had indeed lost his mind. He really wanted to make love to me? I wondered, thankful that I didn’t say the words out loud. Zachary wanted me to have sex with him, despite the turmoil going on in the pack and the many atrocities that he had committed. He wanted me to give myself to him and forget the fact that he had killed so many people in the pack and was still holding my stepbrother and sister hostage. Was he crazy?Don’t you want me to make love to you? his voice came crashing through my mind, forcing me to blink away my thoughts and focus my attention back on him. there was something in his eyes as I looked into them, something that told me I wouldn’t like his next action if I were to say no to him. with a little hesitation, I linked my arm around his nek, and pressed my lips against his.The kiss was slow, and very calculating, as if he was trying to make sure we were on the sa
MelissaAfter convincing Zachary to allow me to move freely outside the house, I walked into the cell where Freya and Alan were supposedly kept. I froze at once after seeing the pack and mansion warriors occupying different prison houses, with Marcus being one of them. The guards all stood up from the floor they were sitting on and bowed their heads in respect when they saw me, their simple gesture forcing me to bow back.“What the hell happened?” I asked, looking at Marcus alone as he walked closer to stand in front of me. Even though the railings demarcated him from me, I could still see his injured face properly.“Zachary has lost his mind, Melissa.” He spoke, using his hand to massage his swollen lips. “He came here with rogues and disrupted the coronation process.”“I know that.” I responded, looking around to be sure the rogues standing as guards weren’t paying attention to our conversation. “He has occupied my father’s bedroom and as it stands, I do not think he plans to let yo
ZacharyI knew Melissa hated me. It was in her eyes and also in the tone of her voice. I might look like a monster to her because I had done a terrible thing to take back what was supposed to be rightfully mine, but I knew she would grow to forgive me one day. Afterall, she had no other choice because we were both going to spend the rest of our lives together. The rogues I had put in charge of the cell bowed to me as soon as I approached and i nodded my head to acknowledge them. The cell housed four separate prisons, each large enough to accommodate more than twenty people at once. So, we put the mansion warriors in one cell, placed the pack warriors in another, and kept Alan and Freya in the third. The warriors were all pleading for their lives when the cell door opened but I ignored them completely and headed over to where Freya and Alan were kept. Both Alan and his sister were awake now, but while Freya remained seated on the hard ground, Alan walked round the cell, probably thinki
MelissaI woke up with a faint headache and the smell of coffee filling my nostrils. I tried to open my eyes, to understand what was going on around me but it was quite difficult to. Last night had been weird, and the only thing I could remember was preparing to leave the mansion for Alan’s coronation ceremony. A lot of things happened after that, but I still couldn’t remember what it was or how I ended up lying on a soft mattress which I could feel behind my back. This wasn’t my room. I knew it wasn’t my room because after sleeping on a particular bed for more than ten years, I should know how my sheets felt and how they smelt. The sound of footsteps approaching me got me back to my senses and I used the whole of my will to snap my eyes open. The view I met in front of me was quite deceiving, so I had to blink three times to be sure I was seeing right and not just imagining things. Zachary smiled at me as he lowered himself on the bed, making sure the cup of coffee in his hand didn’
AlanAfter a successful burial ceremony and mourning period for the alpha, I stood in the garden of the house, thinking about the responsibilities that were about to befall me. The beta and gamma of the pack had prepared me for the coronation ceremony which was to happen in few minutes’ times, and I couldn’t wait for the whole thing to be over and done with. The sounds of footstep from behind had me turning at once to see Freya walking towards me. I offered her a genuine smile, just realizing that since the banishment of Zachary from the pack, she and I hadn’t said a word to eachother. But she didn’t return my smile. Instead, she stopped few meters away from where I stood and stared deeply into my eyes.“Do you feel ready?” She asked in one of her serious voices. I looked at her in confusion and it wasn’t until she tilted her head to the side did I understand what she was asking.“I do not know…”“You are supposed to know, Alan, you are about to be made the alpha of two great packs.”
MelissaI walked into school the next day with all eyes on me. Some of the students murmured as they walked past me and from their discussion, I knew they were talking about the subject of Zachary’s banishment. So many of them believed I had something to do with it, but I ignored their murmurs since none of them had the guts to come ask me about it.As soon as I walked into the classroom, all speech stopped, and everyone focused their gazes on me. I scanned the class for Freya who seemed to have left the house before me and she was seated on her desk, hands folded with Chloe bending down over her, probably asking explanation for what had happened the previous day. Ignoring the silent class, I turned to the direction of my seat only to see Jake waiting for me with hands tucked into his pockets.“What is this that I hear about marriage, Melissa?” He asked. I closed my eyes in distress, realizing that the last thing I wanted to talk about was my sudden betrothal to him.“You will have to
