Chapter 7

Alice had gone to the kitchen to cook with Chef Amelia. Upon seeing her, Amelia smiled.

"What's for dinner today?" Alice asked.

"Don't worry, just assist me with slicing the peppers," Chef Amelia replied.

Alice did as she was instructed; the aroma of the food was already enough to fill Alice.

An hour later, they had finished cooking. Alice yawned, "Although I'm already familiar with your cooking, I haven't seen you cook this ever before."

Chef Amelia, while cleaning up, said, "Yes, Miss Margaret came to ask me especially to cook this. It's her favorite."

Alice scowled, surely displeased, "She is not the madam of the house yet, and she's already ordering us around."

Chef Amelia just smiled, "Help me take this to the dining area."

"Aunty, wait. Let me go and call the maids to do that. You will not serve them; let the maids do it," Alice said before running off to do so.

The family was already sitting, waiting for food to be served. Margaret was also there, wearing short pajamas, smiling incessantly, though nobody was joking or talking.

She shook her head and went to the maids to take the dishes, and they served the family. They all dug into the food.**

Margaret breathed in the aroma of the food, amazed. "Carson, do you like it?" she asked.

Carson nodded without raising his head. The four daughters of Macpherson were not even informed that a visitor would be coming. But all the same, they still liked Margaret.

"Margaret, how was America?" one of the daughters asked. Mia.

Margaret was not interested in chatting with the daughters of MacPherson, but she might later need their help. "America is so interesting. There are so many fun places to go to, just to have fun and enjoy your life."

Mia got excited hearing that. "I've always wished to go to America to study, but Dad insisted that I must study here in London," she pouted. "But still, I will be spending my honeymoon in London."

Carson shook his head and asked his dad. He found it unusual if his dad said, "Do you like her that much?" Carson asked because he knew that she wouldn't understand.

Mr. MacPherson smirked, "Yes, I do."

Carson had two more spoons of the food and left, suddenly in a bad mood when he heard his father's reply.

Margaret stared at his back, clearly disappointed. She had in mind that they would spend the night together reminiscing, from their creche to high school before she finally left for America. There were lots of fun things to talk about.

After having her food, she also left. Others thought she was in a bad mood, but she had something else in mind. She knocked on the door of Carson's room.

"Who is it?" he asked from the inside.

Margaret said cutely, "It's me, Maggie."

Carson took a few seconds before opening the door. Margaret entered and went straight to the bed, jumping on it as if it were hers.

Carson was amazed.

"Come sit beside me," Maggie patted the space beside her.

Carson sat down, waiting to hear what she wanted to say.

Margaret smiled as she reminisced, "I remembered when I was in America, I had many guys chasing after me, wanting to date me, but I refused all of them," she said, wishing to make Carson jealous.

Carson kept a straight face and asked, "Why?"

Margaret was so happy when she saw his reaction. "Because my heart was already with you. I imagined getting married to you many times while I was there. That's why I've been so eager to see you."

Carson faced the other side, thinking deeply. 'Should I give up on my love and treat her as my wife?' It was really hard to decide for himself. It was never so hard to decide when he was with Angela or Lisa, but seeing Alice every day was tough for him.

Margaret noticed that he had been staring at the side since she turned his face and brought hers closer to his.

She gave him a hot kiss. Margaret closed her eyes as she enjoyed it. Margaret was the only one doing the work, while Carson just stayed motionless.

Suddenly, he pushed her away. Margaret lost her balance but managed to pull Carson's arm. They both fell on the floor together. Margaret was lying on top of Carson.

It was a scene from a romantic movie that was replaying because they were both staring deeply into each other's eyes. But what they were looking for was quite different.

Carson shook Margaret, "Do you want to sleep here on my chest?" he joked.

"If you would permit me to do so," Margaret also joked back, but she was really sincere about it.

She got up when Carson said nothing to her. She sat back down on the bed. Carson did not dare; he stood in front of her, ready to listen to her.

Margaret didn't want it to be awkward, so she changed the subject. "Let's go and visit my family's house tomorrow. I'm sure Mom and Dad will be so excited to see us together."

Carson nodded in approval. "Okay, but we have to be fast; I need to go to the office."

Margaret jumped, "Yes, thank you so much. I can't wait to finally see my parents. I'm on top of the world."

Since there was nothing else to say, she stood up and gave Carson a peck on his cheek. "Good night, hubby."

"Hubby" is a common style used among couples nowadays, but they've not even started dating, and she's already calling him hubby.

Margaret seems dumb, but she knows everything; she only pretends to be weak in front of Carson, but she is a true lioness in real life.

Carson locked the door after she was gone; he lay on the bed and fell asleep very soon. Since it was nighttime, it was easy for him to fall asleep quickly.
