Chapter 49

RACHEL

A sharp scream evaded my throat as I got to my chamber and found the lock broken and droplets of blood at the threshold of my house. I was too slow and had gotten there way before Alpha Robert did, and I could see he had succeeded in breaking the locks of my house with his hands which only meant that his wolf side was beginning to show, and it only happens when he is extremely angry.

I pushed the door open and rushed to my room where I could hear a little bit of whisper coming from it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I prepared myself to see the worst before I opened the room, and what I saw there made my fear rise a notch.

My room was completely scattered, my furniture broken and my walls scarred with punch marks. I brought my hand up to my mouth and covered it in shock as I analyzed the damage Alpha Robert did to my room before anger started to sear through my veins.

But this wasn't the time to be angry, especially because of what I did to him. I didn't know how I would react if the roles were reversed and I was the one that betrayed him like this. I was feeling guilty, but at the same time angry because he couldn't hold his goddamn feelings in check.

He was sitting on the bed with his head in his hands while Paula knelt in front of him while she sobbed and whispered incoherent words to him.

"Robbie," I whispered, unable to move even a step from the bed, afraid I'd infuriate him even more. I didn't know if he wanted to see me because if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't want to.

"Leah." Paula turned to look at me with teary eyes. Her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths and her eyes were puffy, but she had not even a scratch on her body which made me sigh in relief.

He couldn't hurt her, she was his mate.

"Paula please leave the room, I want to talk to him." I threaded my hands through my braids.

She shook her head, but I passed her a glare that made her scramble up immediately and was about the door within seconds. I didn't know how to approach the matter with Robert, because I have never done much with him.

It was always him doing the explaining because he was the one doing the hurting so if he didn't understand me enough to forgive me for the mistake I made, I might as well bring all those times back up, including what he did to me the last time. When he was just trying to apologize before this matter came up.

I let out a sigh to aid my thoughts before I stepped into the room, carefully taking steps to avoid injuring myself because of all the broken materials on the floor. I sat down next to him once I got close enough, and then placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I am sorry about what happened Robbie, I should have told you about her before you found it out yourself this way." I apologized in a tender tone.

He was silent for a while before he turned his gaze to me, "Why is she back Leah?" He asked in a calm tone which was the complete opposite of the behavior he was showing just a few minutes ago.

It couldn't be the same person that trashed my house like this that was talking to me in a mellow tone.

"She realized she didn't want to be with the other Alpha," I told him.

He scoffed and shook his head, "So she is back to me because she couldn't hack it with him. Fair enough."

"I am so sorry Robbie."

"You know what Leah?" he raised his head away from his hands and turned to face me, which gave me room to analyze his face which was puffy from anger and possibly tears too. "I don't want anything to do with your sister again. In fact, if I see her in this pack again I will order to have her goddamn throat slit." He blurted with venom in his tone.

When he spoke like this, I knew only a miracle could stop him from going ahead with what he wanted to do. I couldn't stop him, no one could.

"She doesn't have a place to go." I tried one last time before he lost his cool, but he didn't. He just shook his head with a vicious smile playing on his lips.

"She left me, I didn't leave her. Why would she come back to my pack and expect roses and rainbows? She fucking betrayed me, the Alpha of the pack."

"But she is my sister." I shook my head, and from the softened look in his eyes I knew the miracle had just worked, or maybe it was just me that convinced him.

"If I let her stay here, then she will be part of the Omegas." He whispered as he cupped my face in his hands and brought me closer for a kiss on the forehead.

"I agree." I nodded with a smile because I knew that was the best I was getting, at least for now.

"I love you, Leah, I hope you never find a reason to doubt that." He gave me a last kiss on the lips before he got up and left, leaving me lightheaded.

I could barely breathe as his words started to register in my head, Alpha Robert loved me. He just said he did. I didn't know if it was because of the incident with Paula or not but either way, it was good to hear after he just did the impossible for me while at his worst. I didn't want to get ideas into my head, so I just shook the thoughts away.

Paula's footsteps by the door broke my trance and I turned to look at her, suddenly feeling guilty for feeling what I just felt with the man she loved.

"Should I start packing my bags to leave Leah?" She asked in a miserable tone. She looked like she would fall to the ground if she pushed with a pinky.

I smiled at her, "No." I wiped the tears away that were still cascading down my cheeks unrelentingly.

"What do you mean no?" She asked, dragging her feet into the room and collapsing when she got next to me.

"I got him to agree to let you stay silly." I placed a hand on her shoulder, then pulled her into a hug.

"Shit, you got him to let me stay in that state?" She smiled. "Did you convince him to let me in again?"

For some weird reason, that made my heart constrict. Maybe it had to do with the words he just said earlier before he left because I was certainly not feeling this way towards him when she asked me for it the other time. I was willing to hand over Alpha Robert to her on a silver platter.

I squinted my eyes and managed to give her a fake smile, "I don't know Paula. He just told me to tell you that he needs you to go back to the Omegas. That shouldn't be that hard, you could go back to our parent's house." I told her.

It was vacant and I always asked the maids to clean it up but did not make any permanent changes to it because I loved walking down memory lane in the house when I didn't have anything to do and I started to miss my parents and Paula.

She scrunched up her face with the idea, "Don't ask me to stay where I would be reminded of our parents every day Leah, I can't stay there." She shook her head vigorously as tears started to crowd her eyes again.

"I don't have any other choice, you caused it upon yourself when you eloped with another man." I shrugged before I stood up and started packing up all the broken vases on the floor.

I was not going to stay here any longer, or any time soon but I would have the maids clean it up and get me another set of all the materials that were broken.

"I told you, I deeply regret it."

I nodded, "You should. I will get you a log cabin." I said, keeping the debris I got and keeping them on the table.

She smiled, "Thanks little sister," she got up from her position. "I think I should start with my Omega duties, I will clean this up. Pack your clothes and go back to your husband." She placed a hand on my shoulder, and I nodded.

I got up and threw all the clothes that I brought to my chamber into my boxes before I wheeled them down to the palace, ready to make things right with Alpha Robert.
