Chapter 52

LEAH

We got to the palace late at night. The doors to the palace were closed, the Omegas were back at their log cabins but the bodyguards still stood, the night shifters who I’m sure came in just a few minutes ago. I was sure Alpha Robert was in our room, trying to get some sleep after a long day.

I’m sure he hadn’t fallen asleep because I could peek at some light right from the threshold of the palace.

“You should get my clothes upstairs,” I told my maid as I stepped into the house. The bodyguards were surprised to see me, but they greeted me nevertheless and welcomed me back.

“Okay, ma.” She nodded before she headed upstairs to my room where I kept some of my stuff.

Alpha Robert didn’t allow any Omega into our room because of reasons unknown to me, but I knew it had to do with his mother. She was that way towards the Omegas too, even though Robert was softer than she was to them.

I headed towards the fridge that just had its position changed recently. We always did that because he didn’t like his house looking boring. I couldn’t count how many times we had to change a few pieces of furniture and their arrangements since I got married to him.

I brought out a chilled bottle of water, then opened it up and gulped it down in three sips. I tossed the bottle and cover in the bin before I wiped my hands on my body and let out a silent burp. I was hungry but I wasn’t about to sit down here and eat before I met with Robert.

I was going to tell him all that happened, and that I didn’t want to see as little as Alicia’s shadow as long as I lived. I made my way upstairs to his room and paused when I heard noise coming from our room which was weird because he hardly ever let anyone in.

I took in a relaxing breath to ease my tired muscles from all the trekking I did from Alicia’s house to the palace before I headed towards the door and clicked it open. My limbs suddenly froze as I took in the sight in front of me, my breath nearly seizing.

“What the fuck?“ I whispered, fluttering my eyes close momentarily before opening them up again. I couldn’t believe the sight in front of me because it looked like a dream, it felt like so too.

Paula and Robert both stared back at me as if they had just seen a ghost, and I was looking at them the same way too. Wasn’t it the same Alpha Robert that hated the sight of Paula’s guts? Then what the fuck was he doing on top of her? Why are they fucking behind my back while I went to make up with his cruel mother that hated my guts?

“Leah.” Robert got up from the bed. He was stark naked, his huge and hard cock poking out of his crotch like a rod. He tried to put his erection into his briefs but it could barely be hidden, he was the most turned on than he would ever be.

I felt my eyes tingle with tears as I took a step back, staring into Paula’s eyes because she was responsible for whatever it is that is happening. I took her in, gave her a place to stay, and even convinced Alpha Robert to let her stay but here she was, betraying my trust like she usually does. Like she always did.

I wanted to hurt her so much. My heart felt like it was on fire as I whirled my heels back and headed towards the stairs, not knowing what to do or where to go. Just when I thought I was having something with my husband finally. Paula came into the picture and spoiled every single thing and now I’m left with nothing but a broken heart.

“Wait.” I heard her voice say behind and instinctively, I stopped. I cocked my head to look at her once enough, and she flinched from the death glare I was passing her. If looks could kill, she would be buried ten-feed underground.

“What the fuck have I ever done to you, Paula?” I asked, turning my body towards her and my hands on my waist because I could barely support myself. My bones felt like they were being made out of jellies because of how weak I felt.

“I’m sorry Leah. I didn’t know you would have a problem.” She gestured as she knotted the rope of my robe that she wore.

That made me scoff. Did Paula think this was her home?

“What? Not only are you stealing my husband away from me but you’re also taking mine. Nice work Paula, you should keep it up.” Hot, angry tears started to rush down my face because I wanted to give Robert a chance. I thought we would finally have something, but they're here it was.

“You said you’ll find me a way to get back with the Alpha. Why are you changing your goddamn mind now?” She snarled, making me dark my head back to her face that was flashing me a frosty look. Was she trying to be angry at me?

A smirk found its way to my lips as I wiped the tears on my cheeks. Both she and Robert did not deserve my tears. I was the fool to take her in, to forgive him after trying to rape him, and to trust him blindly. They both had no self-conscience which only meant one thing, they fit each other like a puzzle.

“You’re right.” I nodded before I rushed back to the room. I found Alpha Robert sitting on the bed with his face buried in his hands, but that didn’t make me give him a second look. I got to my drawer and got out my traveling bag.

“I am sorry Leah, please don’t leave.” I felt him getting up from the bed and slowly trudging towards me. For some reason, I wasn’t even that angry with him. It was all Paula. She was my sister that decided to betray me after I just saved her goddamn life.

I got out all my clothes that were there, this time not excluding anything because I knew I was leaving for good. I was never coming back to this palace again because I would find a way to leave the pack once and for all before I couldn’t bear the sight of the both of them.

After I got out all of my clothes, I got two other traveling bags and stuffed the remaining clothes and some of my personal belongings before I finally zipped them up and started to wheel them out of the room but Alpha Robert stood in front of me. If not that I was afraid of his wrath even though I was angry at him, I would slap him. Hard.

“Leah,” he started, an awful expression of regret tainted on his face. “I love you. Please don’t leave me.”

For the first time in my life, the realization dawned on me that I was in love with him. I was running away from him to avoid getting hurt even more than I was. I hated how he was just telling me this now. I hated him for making me feel like absolute shit.

“Get out of my way Robert.” My lower lip quivered as I cast my eyes low to avoid him from seeing how much he hurt me and how much those words affected me.

“I am not going to let you go so easily, Leah.”

I balled my hands into fists, resisting all the urge in the world from hitting him. I pushed him away with a shoulder while I wheeled two of my bags in my hands. I kept them near the stairs before I went back in to get the rest.

“I would never allow you to leave me, Leah. I am very sorry.”

I didn’t want to talk, but I knew if I didn’t I would regret it for the rest of the night, “A mistake is when accidentally knock something over Robert, not fucking my goddamn sister while I was out trying to make things right with your mother. You know what? Fuck Paula all you want, she’s your mate either way. Good luck and please, leave me alone.” I bellowed at him with a stern hard look on my face that dared to blurt even another word in opposition.

He looked away with a dejected look on his face, which assured me that the message had been passed through before I wheeled out the last bag to where the others were. I called out a bodyguard and clearly instructed him to take them directly to my chamber before I went back to my other room to pack out my remaining stuff in a carry-on bag.

After I was done, I left the palace with the hopes of never looking back no matter what happens.
