DANTE
My body hadn’t stopped trembling with anger ever since she went missing, I couldn’t think straight and even if I ran as fast as possible I couldn’t catch up to them that day, hell I couldn’t even see them, they were too fast because I could still perceive her scent faintly but she was nowhere to be found I returned to the kingdom and turns out the news had already reached before I arrived, mournful cry echoed through the castle walls, vibrating in my bones, rattling the very air I breathed. It was a sound that spelled one thing and one thing only, chaos. Panic. Desperation. And at the center of it all, I stood there silent, seething; my fists clenched so tightly that my claws had torn clean through the skin of my palms. I barely even registered the blood dripping onto the marble floors of the war room. "Lock it down," I snarled, my voice a raw thing dragged from somewhere deep and violent inside me. "Lock the entire kingdom down. No one leaves. No one enters. Not without my explicit permission." The warriors surrounding the table stiffened visibly. None dared argue, not when the storm in my golden eyes was one heartbeat away from spilling over into something far deadlier. They nodded, sharp and mechanical, scrambling to obey. My heart was still hammering in my chest as I tried to think of any possible place he could be In the corner, I caught Hans out of the corner of my eye, his arm strapped up in a crude sling, blood still seeping sluggishly from the wound he'd earned during the ambush. Beside him stood Kiara, pale and rigid, her fingers wrapped so tightly around the hilt of her sword that I half-expected it to snap in two. But I barely saw them. I barely saw anything beyond the roaring need that tore through my chest like wildfire. It wasn’t the first time she was out of my sight but now that she was I truly was screwed as nothing went through my head except a certain chant over and over again Find her. Find Leah. She was out there somewhere alone, terrified, bleeding and I wasn’t there. I hadn’t been there. The thought sliced into me, brutal and unrelenting, feeding a rage so savage it left me trembling. I slammed my fist against the table and immediately groaned at the jolting pain that surged through my bones, I had totally forgotten that this table was made from a oak tree that was a thousand year old "Double the patrols," I ground out, my voice barely human. "Search every inch of the kingdom. Every forest, every rogue den, every damned abandoned village. I don’t care if you have to tear the world apart, find her." They scattered, leaving only the heavy stink of fear and adrenaline behind. I didn’t wait for further updates. I couldn’t. Every second spent standing still felt like a betrayal, I shoved away from the table and stormed out of the war room, my boots slamming into the marble floors, the hallways blurring past in my furious haze. My lycan threatened through slip through my control snapping its jaws in my head, desperate to be unleashed. Demanding blood. Demanding vengeance. Demanding to see his mate again I stepped out of the room and head towards the door, the moment I burst into the courtyard, I gave in to him. The shift ripped through me violently, bones snapping, muscles tearing, until I stood there in my massive form, a shadow streaking through the gardens. Hans and Kiara weren’t far behind; they shifted without hesitation, and we were out of the pack in span of few seconds The earth was torn and churned, patches of grass soaked dark with blood. Shattered statues lay scattered among the ruins, the sharp, metallic stench of fear and rogue blood clung thickly to the air, coating my tongue with every breath. But beneath it, a faint and fragile scent lingered and I knew it any day, any time. They had pass through this place, I paused, ears pricking, nostrils flaring. I pressed forward, tracking her scent through the chaos, through a broken hedge wall that led into the woods beyond. The trail twisted, tangled, a desperate, frantic dance across the forest floor. Scratches marred the bark of trees. Bits of cloth fluttered from thorns. Joy coursed through my bones knowing I was getting close but just like that my heart came to an abrupt stop, just like that it was gone, I could no longer perceive her anymore. I shook the growing fog in my mind as I tried to perceive, turn different ways to get it again but it was gone I skidded to a halt, claws digging deep into the dirt. A growl ripped from my throat, low and furious. They’d masked her scent. Maybe even teleported her. Every fiber of my being screamed to lash out, to tear something apart, but I forced myself to think. To breathe. To not lose her twice and for the first time in a long while my eyes sting with tears I doubled back, widening the grid. Orders buzzed through the intercom in my ear, voices reporting back one after another. Nothing. No Leah. No sign. Every negative report was another blow, another crack through the foundation of the barely-held-together man I was pretending to be. By the time night fell, I was a mess of blood, dirt, and fury. My paws stumbled over roots and rocks, my breathing ragged, but I didn’t stop. I couldn't stop. I had sent Kiara and Hans back home hours ago Out here, under the cover of trees, away from the eyes of my soldiers, the walls I had built around myself finally buckled. I failed her. The thought whispered through my mind, insidious and poisonous. I failed her, just like I failed my mother. Just like I failed everyone. A broken sound tore from my throat as I shifted back into human form. My knees hit the ground hard enough to bruise. I bowed my head, digging clawed fingers into the cold, damp earth, grounding myself against the crushing guilt threatening to tear me apart. I saw her then. In my mind, Leah’s face bloomed laughing, fierce, and alive. The way she had looked at me last night, trusting me with everything she was. Trusting me to protect her even if she could do it herself and now she was out there, alone and probably in pain, because I hadn’t been fast enough. Smart enough. Strong enough. I clenched my fists so tightly blood seeped anew from the wounds in my palms. "I swear to you," I whispered to the night. "I will find you." Even if it meant razing this kingdom to the ground. Even if it meant drowning the world in blood. A sharp grunt shattered my spiral. I jerked my head up to see Hans, still in his wolf form, rigid and alert a few yards ahead. His tail was stiff, his ears pinned flat against his skull even if I had told him to go home Another grunt, urgent this time. My heart stuttered in my chest. I was on my feet before the thought finished forming, sprinting toward him. Hans nudged something toward me with his snout. I dropped to my knees, my hands trembling as I reached out. A scrap of fabric, delicate, torn, soaked in blood and I immediately knew where it was from Not just any fabric. Leah’s gown. I stared at it, feeling the world tilt and darken around me, the blood was unmistakable, her blood. The fabric slipped from my numb fingers, fluttering to the dirt. Hans’s voice broke through the haze, tight and brittle. "We’re deep inside rogue territory." The words hit like a punch to the gut. They had her. They had taken her into the darkest part of the kingdom into a place where mercy was a foreign language and she was bleeding. I clenched the scrap of her dress against my chest so hard it crumpled in my fists, my vision swimming red. My wolf was howling inside me now, howling in agony, in fury, in helpless, blinding rage, but I didn’t move recklessly, not this time. I sucked in a slow, shuddering breath, forcing my brain to override the animal instincts snapping at the edges of my sanity. "Track every scent," I ordered my voice low and lethal. "Every footprint. Every whisper of movement. I don't care what it takes we move, now." I rose to my feet, my fist still clenched around the bloodied fabric. I lifted my head; letting the savage burn of vengeance pour through me, steady me and I knew too well that this time... this time there would be no mercy. None. Not after what they had done to my wife, they had made her fight, made her bleed and I don’t even know the condition she was in but there was no mercyLEAH Pain and I… we’ve been longtime companions. Breathing heavily, I looked front, and my body felt like it had been dragged through hell though I’ve fought through broken bones, bled for wolves who never once deserved my loyalty, and carried grief like a second skin. But this… this is a different breed of agony. One that doesn't just rake its claws through flesh, it scrapes against the soul. The machine strapped to my chest hums like a predator, its silver gears whirring in time with the pulses of torment it feeds into me. Every time it surges, I feel something being pulled from my core, like muscle torn from bone. I bite down hard, swallowing a scream that claws its way up my throat. My back arches violently, involuntarily. My breath hitches. The cuffs around my wrists burn like open fir soaked in wolfsbane, they sear through skin and muscle, keeping my wolf sedated, quiet, caged. My ankles are locked down to the legs of the chair, chained with old iron laced in suppressive magic.
LEAHMy freedom began with a click and I still stuck on that click even if it felt good, it felt like a relief, but I couldn't keep myself in this position, I had just few hours before they come back, and I needed to get out of here quietly It was so soft I almost thought I imagined it. Just a quiet snick of metal giving way, but it roared through me like thunder. The first shackle was off. Three more to go, I took a deep breath not blinking an eye as I pushed further knowing my life depended on the outcome of my predicament. I didn’t sleep, I couldn't bring myself to do that when freedom was just few hours away, I looked through the window and relief coursed through my veins knowing I still had time, but I needed to hurryI took a breath before I continued to move knowing I could not afford to stay another day not with that monster of a machine humming beside me like it owned my soul, not with Victor’s voice echoing in my mind, claiming me like some lab rat he'd broken. My body was
DANTE The hall was filled to the brim with the senior members of the pack. It was a well-designed and modern hall that was just opening today, designed to hold the pack's meetings. Alpha Dante Lockwood always had a thing for breathtaking architecture, it was of no surprise that after his father left the pack for him 10 years ago after he died, he dedicated his blood, sweat, and tears to making his pack the most perfect there is in that part of the world. He made it the first first-world wolf country in the history of werewolves and that was why it attracted the most tourists every year like witches, vampires, and even dragons. Supernatural creatures loved coming to his city since they couldn't go out to the human world and see what civilization is like without being stigmatized and other times killed. "Welcome to the first meeting in our newest hall." Beta Louis stood up from the chair that was next to Alpha Dante's, but significantly lower to show him the respect. T
Jacob Blackwood looked for his son everywhere. After he heard what happened in the pack meeting with Alpha Dante, he knew he had to find him and talk some sense into him before he spoilt everything for them. He has always known his son to have anger issues and with the bubbling hate he had for Dante, he knew he was bound to explode someday like an active volcano, which was why Charles was doing everything in his power to stop it. He got to his son's chambers even though he knew he had very little chance of meeting him there since he wasn't the type to come home to his mate after a bad day. When he got to his house, he left his car which was imported from the human world for the royal family only. There were other means of transportation amongst the wolves but there was none that matched the luxury cars Alpha Dante brought in for them. He headed to the door and knocked on it until Cassandra, his son's mate opened up the door. She was clad in a matching lacy thong and g
LEAH I strolled down the palace with my comfortable shoes to supervise the work of the Omegas that worked in the pack. Other times when I was less busy, I would go on to help them do one or two chores before I go back to my room to paint something out of boredom. My life used to be interesting before I got married to Robert. I mean, even though my parents weren't rich and we were practically Omegas, I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted without being restricted because of my duties as the wife of the pack's Alpha. I used to be a bubbly little girl up until marriage ruined me. Now, I would never have the chance to experience what love was like because no one will dare to go for the woman Alpha Dante was married to, or even was once married to if we ever get separated at all. "You need to put in more effort in ironing Alpha Robert's clothes," I told one of the Omegas. "I don't want to see a wrinkle on it after you finish or I'll simply have to relieve you of the duty and g
DANTE The sun was about to set when Alpha Dante started to get ready for his meeting with his sister. He picked up the cloak they'd usually wear back when they were kids and their parents would force them to wear them for their family meetings. Even though they detested it back then, it was one of the few things that reminded him of his childhood and their parents. He stared at himself in the mirror as he went over his outfit then once again, got lost while looking into his own eyes. They were a light shade of brown and had an innocent round look to them. He had long thick eyelashes that were mostly covered by his jet-black hair. He had a chiseled strong jaw that gave most of his face its shape, and full pale pink lips that sat under his clean-shaved mustache. He had just shaved his face some minutes ago and the spicy scent of his after-shave filled his room. He looked over at his bed that had his clothes that were sprawled over, which he all tried on before he found the one t
The days went faster than the nights because of dealing with Paula when I got back to my chamber. I was starting to get irritated with her with every day that passed, and I knew it had everything with her changing an environment because that was certainly not how she was before. “When do you plan to clean up the goddamn room Paula?” Anger seared through my body as I found her laying on my bed with a box of chips made for me by the maids. It was hard to make them because of our potato scarcity, and I craved them all the time. So now that I had the power to have it whenever I wanted, I took the opportunity faster than lightning. “I will clean it, stop whining. You know you don’t have to go through all these if you just tell Robbie about our plan right?” I folded my hands over my chest which was covered with a dry towel I just wrapped around me after bathing. “You don’t tell me what to do Paula.” I turned my head away as a weight settled in my chest when I remembered our l
DANTE Alpha Dante tried to get the thought of what Maria told him out of his head. He used his usual tricks of making himself forget what was going on- like burying himself in work or going out hunting during the full moon when he transformed but all that didn’t work. He was still stuck in his sad little bubble that was getting worse and messing with his head with every day that passed. Today, he resorted to doing something he had not done for a very long time. Sex. He used to be able to keep it in his pants for an incredibly long time because of the self-control he learned to have ever since he was young but he knew he needed it now. If not, he would either go spiraling or go ahead with what his sister told him which was the last option in his mind. He called in one of his many royal concubines that were just living, waiting to be called by him. Every Alpha that didn’t have a Luna yet had a bunch of them provided by the pack but Alpha Dante slept with them only once in a blue
DANTE Alpha Dante toasted a cup to his uncle with a smile on his face as they went down the memory lane. He laughed as his uncle reminded him of all the goofy things he had done when he was young, all the sacrifices he made for the pack and all his parents did for love. He convinced him that no matter what, love always came first for the wolves in their pack. His father may not have done worse when it came to love but he knew if he was in that situation, he would do it without thinking twice. It was a day before Alpha Dante left the Aurora pack to the Tick moon pack with nothing but a carry-on of his clothes and money. He was going to make a brand new life in the neighboring pack since he had never shown his face, or had a meeting with anyone from the pack. Whatever relationship the both of them had come as a result of the pack members, and barely ever from the pack Alphas. “You have always been successful Dante, it wouldn’t be any different this time. I promise.” He placed
LEAH We got to the palace late at night. The doors to the palace were closed, the Omegas were back at their log cabins but the bodyguards still stood, the night shifters who I’m sure came in just a few minutes ago. I was sure Alpha Robert was in our room, trying to get some sleep after a long day. I’m sure he hadn’t fallen asleep because I could peek at some light right from the threshold of the palace. “You should get my clothes upstairs,” I told my maid as I stepped into the house. The bodyguards were surprised to see me, but they greeted me nevertheless and welcomed me back. “Okay, ma.” She nodded before she headed upstairs to my room where I kept some of my stuff. Alpha Robert didn’t allow any Omega into our room because of reasons unknown to me, but I knew it had to do with his mother. She was that way towards the Omegas too, even though Robert was softer than she was to them. I headed towards the fridge that just had its position changed recently. We always did
DANTE Dante's days were getting longer and each day that passed. He was barely able to have a good night's sleep before waking up in sweats and horror, unconscious of his surroundings. He was getting tired of it and taking Maria's advice suddenly didn't seem like a very bad idea. He was at the pack meeting, but he was barely concentrating on what the pack's committee was saying because of his lack of sleep in him. He caught himself dozing off a few times since the meeting started, which confused both his Beta and the rest of the committee because they knew Alpha Dante never showed a weak side. Even when he was sick, he would rather stay back in the palace than come down to the meeting and show a sign of weakness like sleep. "Alpha Brain," Beta Louis, who was closest to him touched his arm which jerked him up from his reverie. He brought his hand up to his forehead and massaged it before he turned to look at him. "What is it, Louis?" He asked. Beta Louis looked at him in
LEAH The next few days at my home were the best. I loved how I was being treated by Alpha Robert, which was strange compared to who he was a few days ago. It was quite surprising for a man that had that sort of tantrum to turn out to be all forgiving and loving in the next second. I was surprised but I knew I had to enjoy it while it lasted. “Are you done dressing up my queen?” He asked, planting a subtle kiss on my cheek and hugging me from behind. My body radiated with heat as thoughts of last night came rushing into my mind. I loved having sex with him, but I knew deep in my heart he wasn’t the one I wanted to be with. He was not my mate, he was my sister’s. It felt wrong letting him fuck me with every chance he got after I came back, even though I knew it had a lot to do with Paula. “Yes.” I nodded, a fake smile appearing on my lips as I tied my hair into my usual hairstyle. I decided to change my choice of clothing today because Alpha Robert’s mother would be here to ta
RACHEL A sharp scream evaded my throat as I got to my chamber and found the lock broken and droplets of blood at the threshold of my house. I was too slow and had gotten there way before Alpha Robert did, and I could see he had succeeded in breaking the locks of my house with his hands which only meant that his wolf side was beginning to show, and it only happens when he is extremely angry. I pushed the door open and rushed to my room where I could hear a little bit of whisper coming from it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as I prepared myself to see the worst before I opened the room, and what I saw there made my fear rise a notch. My room was completely scattered, my furniture broken and my walls scarred with punch marks. I brought my hand up to my mouth and covered it in shock as I analyzed the damage Alpha Robert did to my room before anger started to sear through my veins. But this wasn't the time to be angry, especially because of what I did to him. I didn't k
