“It’s your birthday, Noah.”

The words sounded more of a question than a statement, as if she hadn't celebrated Noah's birthday every year for the last six years. When they snuggled near each other hiding from the chill of the night underneath the blankets, and a cup of cocoa warming their young hands.

“Ophelia what the hell are you saying right now?!” Noah said, covering the distance between them in long strides. He was a hot mess, his shirt ripped and stained with dried blood. He had his long sleeves rolled to his elbow revealing the veins bulging along his thick forearm.
