Noah was angry, His fists clenched at his side.
The smirk left Hero’s face after he felt the death glare. Noah’s red eyes seemed like they caught the fire that started in his heart, the anger was pure within his veins. It took him a moment to realize the kind of face he had on, he instantly released the tension from his muscles and his features relaxed to return to their soft features.
‘What in the world was that?’ he asked himself while taking a deep breath. Hero has always been a nuisance, sometimes taking his jokes a bit too far but, it wasn’t something unusual to Noah. So why did he get so angry? He couldn’t understand the source of his anger.
Ophelia and Hero felt like they were staring dagg
“You are sorely mistaken, Young Master,” Ophelia hissed. Rage scorched behind her violet eyes while her brows were arched painfully causing the skin in between to wrinkle, a side of her that Noah has never seen before nor did he ever catch a glimpse of. The bright usual princess he was used to has been erased as if she never excited. For a minute there, Noah feared that she might shift and release her wolf until he realized that it was impossible. If the human part of her was this raged, Noah doubted he wanted to meet the wolf. Despite the anger, Noah couldn’t look away because there was something else he saw. It was hard to grasp at first but, he figured that she wasn’t angry at him. This rage. This burning fire within her wasn’t because of Noah, it was already within her way before he provoked her. In fact, the incipient stage started the moment her home was set ablaze. It has been burning every sense, getting stronger with Ophelia’s every waking moment, every moment she shut
Hand in hand, both Ophelia and Noah walked into the main house’s portico. They were the first ones to arrive, the reason was obvious, Ophelia couldn’t sit still for another minute in the infirmary with Noah. The wind was chilly on their cheeks, Noah shrunk into the fur of his black puff jacket, its collar reaching all the way up to his mouth. His hair reached almost to the nape of his neck while the top parted on either side of his head, reaching a little below his eyebrows. His scarlet eyes were bright behind the dark curtains of his hair. Despite being the future Alpha of the pack, he still couldn’t handle the cold. He stood at the edge of the stairs to allow the sunlight to warm his young body. On the other hand, Ophelia stood with her head up taking the cold air straight on. Noah could see the tip of her nose turning red with cold. “You are going to catch a cold,” he said, his voice muffled through the fabric. He could feel the fur against his tongue. “I’m not really cold,”
The cars came to a stop amid the frozen woods. The highway was far behind them at this point, there was nothing but dirt underneath the tires and snow coating everything around them. When the sound of the engines died, there was nothing now but the sound of nature around them. Ophelia was disappointed at the disappearance of the white noise, it helped her focus her nerves. Now, she felt that she was on the edge of collapse. Everything around her was familiar. It was home. Everything around her was home. This was where she and Luke would hunt rabbits and raccoons among the bushes, they would lay on the dirt with their eyes gazing heavenwards till the moon rises high in the sky. This was also close to where she shared her last moments with Luke before they returned to find their world upside down. Even the happy memories gave her doom. It took every bit of her power to focus on the task at hand. She wasn’t here to mope over her misfortunes. She was here to find out the truth. This w
It was hard to tell from this distance if Ophelia was crying or not. But Noah couldn’t help but think that he saw her shoulders shudder. The naive part of him hoped it was only his imagination. However, if she was indeed crying, then he hoped she would let it all out. Let everything that she has been holding back until this moment.Noah felt a chill run down his spine the moment his eyes fell on the lifeless body of the woman on the portico. She lay on the stairs with her head resting on the blood-stained concrete handrail next to her. He had a hard time convincing himself that this woman was dead. If it hadn’t been for the snow covering her, it would have seemed as if she was sitting there waiting for someone to come home - for Ophelia to get back home.Noah felt his heart being pierced with a dagg
Ophelia bit down on the inside of her cheek to hold in the scream, her nails were painfully digging deep into the palm of her hands. The pain of the injuries was enough for her to hold back her voice from resonating through the snow. But, it wasn’t enough to block the scream inside of her.The force of it clattered her rips. The sight of her father, the Alpha, was another dagger to wound her heart. The wound she suffered from her mother was still ripe in her heart. Now both wounds lay side by side within her small heart, tormenting her with the pain she couldn’t gasp. She squats down to be on a level with her father’s head. She couldn’t bring herself to believe that he was gone, just like that. He has been in the cold on his knees for all these days. She couldn’t help but wonder wh
The blue flame spurted from Bernard’s hand was a beautiful shade of pastel blue, a shade darker than the morning sky. Aura. The purest form of werewolf's power was the implementation of long years of practice. Not every werewolf is blessed with this ability. Every shifter has his own unique aura, the core of his powers and existence. But not everyone could materialize it like Bernard. Bernard was the second person that Ophelia met who had such strength, the first was her father. His aura unlike Bernard was a pretty shade of lilac purple resembling the color of his eyes. She could count the few times she saw her father use his aura and it was always nothing but a warm flame at the tips of her finger. She only heard from the other knights of the Crescent about the true destructive power of Alpha Gregor’s aura. It was hard to believe that such gentleness could bring about any sort of harm, let alone destruction. She always wondered if she would be able to master her aura just like her
Ophelia stood at the door, hesitant to take another step forward to find that it was all a dream. But it wasn’t. Noah stood on the side with a gentle smile on his face, he shifted his weight to one side and waited for Ophelia to get comfortable enough to enter. Noah had a hard time reading her expression, it was blank and void. However, he wasn’t greedy to ask for anything. Not after what they have been through. He could only imagine the pain that Ophelia is going through, she saw her own family - her clan, slaughtered in the dirt. He couldn’t even begin to relate to what she could be feeling. All he wanted was to relieve her of some of the pain, by giving her a gift he thought she needed. A home. Ophelia carefully studied the room. The moonlight was flooding through the balcony opposite to her. White Chiffon curtains are drawn apart, delicately flowing to the parquet floor. Against the left wall, a king-sized bed was centered. Atop it was a curtain canopy of similar white chiffo
‘I’m just being hopeful,’ Bernard said in the back of his mind. He trusted Garelt’s abilities, he even admitted that they were far superior to his own tracking skills. In short, if there has been someone there, he would get a trace back to them - or at least that’s what was supposed to happen. Garelt returned at the crack of dawn. Ryan pulled open the gates to let the wolf through. Garelt’s brown fur was coated with a thick layer of snow that he dusted away. “So?” Ryan asked raising a brow, he watched the wolf circle around his own tail before laying on the dirt. Ryan caught that he must be tired. He sighed and joined him on the ground, using Garelt’s fur to warm his cold hands. Usually Garelt would growl and bite his hands away. Ryan figured that it was because he was either too tired to react or thankful that he stayed up this late to wait for him to return. Ryan doubted the latter. “Aren’t you going to change back?” Ryan asked, looking at the fur head next to him. Garelt whim
