Hello everyone! I know, I know i am too late with chapter. But I had a deadline this week so it's making it harder to continue the book! But here it is! Thank you for reading so far! Till we meet again
Garelt covered his mouth as he yawned again. He lost count of how many times it has been already since he left his room.He was walking down the hallway with Ryan. Garelt barely got the time to wash up and jump into the first denim jeans and hoodie that he found before Ryan half dragged and half carried him out of the room. On the other hand, Ryan was back into his uniform, his deep-navy hair carefully combed to either side of his temples.Garelt always wondered how Ryan managed to keep his uniform ironed throughout the day. They walked like polar opposites down the hallway, heading to the Alpha’s office.“You should have at least let me do my hair,” Garelt whined, stopping by to see his reflection in a window arrayed down the hallway.
Ophelia sat there cautious of herself amid the room filled with adults. It wasn’t the first time she found herself with Bernard, Valarie, the knight commanders Ryan, and lastly their best tracker Garelt. However, it was too much to have all their eyes on her, she wondered why they called her here so out of the blue. But was it really out of the blue? After everything that has happened, they would obviously need a minute with her to set things straight. What were they going to do starting now? It didn’t require a genius to understand that their hands were tied up. They had so little to go on she could guess that Garelt’s search didn’t change much. Deep down she was anticipating the moment the Alpha kicks her out and says that they have helped her to the limit of their power, and there was nothing left to do. The overthinking of what would become of her sent shivers down her spine. A rogue. A big word for a small girl to use. That was what she believed would be her end, howe
Ophelia forgot to breathe as she nodded. “George White,” she muttered, her head hanging low on her shoulder as her mind ran a 1oo mile per hour. “George White?” It was Bernard who quoted the name. It sounded familiar to him. It wasn’t abnormal for each clan to know the influential wolves of another. Perhaps he had met him before? “The Knight Commander of the Crescents,” Ophelia said unconsciously as if someone else answered from within her. “Lord White.” Ryan took a deep breath and shared an uncertain glance with Gaerlt and together they stared at Bernard. The three men in the room including Valarie, were sharing the same disrupting thought. Was it a coincidence? They found themselves wondering what if it wasn’t. It would mean that they knew - that Lord White knew beforehand what was awaiting them, and to save the children, he sent them away. But if they already knew, how was there so much evidence that they were toke off guard? “Ophelia,” Bernard called, dragging the girl f
Noah was still in shock from Ophelia’s outburst. It was the first time he has seen her deliver this side of her. The side she keeps hidden. This wasn’t just momentary anger because Ryan said the wrong words. It was the accumulation of many days, starting from the day she ran away - no from the moment she saw her estate on fire with her brother Luke, till this moment today. Day after day the pain escalated to a degree far from what she imagined, and it went beyond that to the point where she lost track of it. She was faring well so far however, she couldn’t hold back her irritation and burst out at Ryan. It was the force needed to hold back, she was getting sick of it. For once, she desired to break loose. Her eyes shot daggers at Ryan, though deep down she knew that it wasn’t his fault she was so angry but she didn’t care. She was beyond reasoning. Noah hesitated to intervene. The fury he saw in her eyes was one he has never seen before. Behind her lilac-violet eyes, there was
“This will be it for today’s class,” the teacher said as she yanked the glasses off her nose. Ophelia let out a deep sigh as she stretched her arms above her head, feeling the tension it caused in her sides. She has been sitting there for a solid 2 hours. Noah and Hero joined her, sitting on either side of her on the long table. They both seemed just as tired as her from sitting and paying attention. It took more energy than it seemed.“Thank you, Lady Margret,” they said in unison, watching the woman pack her things. Margret was in her 40s or at least that’s what Ophelia heard from Noah. Despite her old age, she was still single without a mate. “Some say that she rejected her mate to focus on her studies,” Hero whispered to her amid class, only to have Lady Margret scold him as he did. Ophelia couldn’t help but feel attracted to the woman. It was hard to tell her age, from her smooth skin. It only seemed visible when the wrinkles form on her cheeks and forehead when she laughs o
With their ears pressed against the door, Ophelia and Noah could hear nothing but the muffled incoherent sounds coming through the thick wood. At first, they believed that Bernard was caught in an argument with someone, but the less heated it become and they were left with incomplete sentences. They pulled back, realizing that there was nothing more to hear. But it wasn’t enough to feed their curiosity. They clearly heard a voice yell at the Alpha. Now it was a question of, who dared to do such a thing.Noah sighed in defeat, his shoulders slumped in disappointment.“There is no way to know now,” Noah pouted, rubbing a frustrated hand through his ink-black hair and turning to Ophelia. “Did you get to hear anything?”
It wasn’t like what Noah expected, at all…This was the first time he saw Ophelia use her strength. She was the level where she could keep up with Ryan, to a certain extent at least. Her movements were delicate underneath her light weight, her feet was quick to evade any straight on attacks. It was all things that Noah lacked. He remembered the last time he sparred with Ryan, it was an utter embarrassment. To the point where Noah swore never to spar with Ryan again, until he is strong enough to do it. Noah recalled that despite Ryan holding back on him, he still had a hard time catching on to his quick movements. Before long, Noah gave up as he lied in the dirt after a couple of hopeless trails against Ryan. Noah realized why his father chose Ryan as Kn
The 1st of January. It was the day of the long-awaited council meeting and Ophelia barely had a wink of sleep. She was staring at the canopy hovering over her bed waiting for Sarah to wake her up. Until then, she tossed and turned to find a comfortable position but nothing seemed to work. She replayed all the instructions Bernard gave her that night a few days ago. “It will be as if you are never here,” he said, leaning forward on the dining table. “I know it’s hard but you will stay within the second floor’s range.” The council meeting will be held on the ground floor. The Alpha reassured her that there was no need for their guests to roam around the house. The meeting usually lasts a couple of hours before everyone departs back to their home. Ophelia’s room was on the first floor. However, the Alpha found that it was better to safe than sorry and told her to stay the rest of the day on the last floor and away from any paths that the guests could take. All 8 clans were goi
*THIS IS A FREE CHAPTER IF YOU WERE CHARGERD PLEASE CONTACT GOODNOVEL*As this journey comes to an end I'm left with many doubts regarding the way I did it. There were days when I wanted to quite, but my heart desperately clung on to the last string of hope. The novel wasn't going along as well as I thought it would. Through the darkest days I had to remind myself that there are readers out there enjoying it. The last 2 years have been a roller coaster in my life, writing was hard, I barely had the time or the energy. But as I finally got a breather, I decided it was time to end this book. I ended it to mark the end of a phase of my life, and the life of my characters... Some might see it was rushed, but, it was the only way I saw it coming along.I the excitement of reaching the end gave me power to keep on going... And now the thrill of starting a new journey is giving me power. I believe to start something new, you need to end the past. And I did. These characters all repli
It has been a year since 18.6.2024…The day Ophelia’s life had taken a turn forever. It was hard at first to keep on living, to be the only survivor it got to her harder than ever since all hope had vanished with the day she set E.VI.L on fire. However, time proved to be stronger than any sensation that lingered after that accident. She soon began to overcome it all. Though she never forgot. But it didn’t hurt as much anymore. Having Noah and Luke by her side made it all easier since she focused on preserving what she had left rather than what she had lost. She was sure that would be what her clan wanted her to do. She lived on carrying their memory with her every breath. “Ophelia!” She snapped out of her trance to return to reality. Luke hovered over her as she crouched down before her parent's graves. It was summer now, the snow melted and the sky above was clear. The birds sang atop the trees behind the graves of the Crescent. Flowers sprouted beside her parent's graves in s
The ocean spread vastly around the yacht in all directions. The horizon line turned dark blue as they sailed away from Glaham. The sky weaved with the water in perfect harmony. There were little to no clouds in the sky. It had been raining cats and dogs the past few days. She appreciated the sun today. Ophelia took a seat on the roof of the yacht, it was all in white, the metal, the fabric, it all gave a sense of serenity with the sound of crashing waves against the boat’s belly. Luke on the other hand couldn’t decide if it was better on the roof or the deck, and in his pursuit, he climbed up and down over a dozen times. Finally, when they were halfway through their journey, he decided to settle next to his sister, his pale features were paler as he sat with a loud thud.“All is good?” Ophelia asked raising an eyebrow, offering her pack of chips that she saved from her brother’s wrath. Luke waved her off and gagged. “I think I’m getting sick.”“I told you not to eat too much before
Later after Ophelia left Noah, she headed to her room to change into something more comfortable for the long way ahead. It would take them almost half a day to reach the organization according to Luke’s statements. They will take a ship from the shores of Encford. Ophelia recalled Margret, Enzo’s daughter. News of the Alpha’s death has probably reached them by now. This whole trip was to fulfill her promise to Enzo, to get the medicine needed for his daughter’s survival. Alpha Laura promised to do her best to study the medicine and replicate it if possible. Aside from the promise, she wanted to see what it was like for Luke there, and the other Crescents. During Luke’s interrogation, he mentioned that some Crescents were still held captive by the organization. Ophelia held back from having any hope at all. It has been a long time since their capture, there was no knowing what changed in them during these years. She was able to bring back her brother, deep down she wanted to save
The last gift…As Noah told her earlier, he was present for his father’s funeral. Ophelia never got the chance to attend funerals except for her clan's.But she was sure they were meant to be more crowded than this. It was her, Noah, and his parents, Merrick, Oswald, and Hero. No one else came. No one wanted to be here. The Council only approved this burial as a thank you to Noah for being a hero. Ophelia didn’t judge them, she would be lying if she said she felt sorry for Dustin. She was here because of what it meant to Noah. He wanted to bury a part of him with Dustin. Lock it all underneath the wooden lid of the coffin, and deep into the ground. Perhaps then, it would make his heart feel lighter. It was raining lightly now in the woods, the sky was paid actor as it shed tears over all those they had lost, the water droplets puttered against the leaves above their heads in a steady rhythm. Noah chose to bury his father on the flat land next to the lake. He hated this lake, alway
Rain…The rain continued for the next two days. The sun shined behind the dense clouds, its rays escaping through the gaps to illuminate the destruction of Glaham. The horizon was a thin line of smug and debris. The rain puttered on the leaves of what remained of nature and the trees. The once bright and soothing woods ringing the mansion now resembled a ghost city. Ophelia stood at her window, the rain drizzling down her window heavily. Her heart ached at the state of Moonglade, it reminded her of the time she returned to the Crescents after the arson. The destroyed homes, the blood-soaked streets, and the bone-chilling cold. Her eyes refocused on her reflection in the window. She looked tired. Her platinum white hair was tied up behind her head, her eyes were red-rimmed with lack of sleep, and dark circles reached her cheeks. She was dressed in a black button-up shirt and a black skirt. All the black brought attention to her tired and wary pale face. Whenever she closed her eyes to
Ophelia…The world went serene. Time stopped as if someone pushed the pause button. Warm light shyly intervened from the heavens. There were no shadows, or demons threatening the fated mates. Noah felt at ease as if someone was hugging his heart from within. The throbbing in his chest was gone the moment he saw Ophelia crouching in front of him, her long platinum hair falling like a curtain around her face.Noah got to his feet, lighter, his footsteps echoing in the air as he knelt to her side, gently touching her shoulders. Ophelia trembled softly under his touch, she slowly held her head up, her eyes shyly popping out between her messed-up hair. Her violet eyes were rimmed red, she had been crying. Noah couldn’t help the smile that touched his mouth. He rarely sees tears in Ophelia's eyes; when he does, he can’t help the empathy crawling into his heart. The need to protect every strand of her moon-like hair, and keep the tears from ever finding her eyes again. Noah extended his ha
“Come forth! Nymeria!”The eruption started from inside Ophelia. She felt it in her chest as it rattled against her rips, something was breaking free of constraints. Nymeria. She blazed in violet and light as if Ophelia was the center of a torture and her fire burned bright around her. It sent a shock wave in a ring around her, bringing the battle’s attention to her. She felt the ecstasy wash over her. In her hand, her power took form. It materialized from thin air into the most beautiful sword Ophelia lay her eyes on. The blade dazzled as it caught the light, it seared in the smug air, as if a star fell from the star right into her hands. The metallic hilt wrapped around her hand and wrist gracefully like satin. The sword was light in her hand, she felt it pulsating in her palm as it came alive. Nymeria, she thought feeling the she-wolf resonate within her very soul.I’m with you Ophelia, Nymeria said, her voice echoing in her mind. This is your power. Wield it!Ophelia took it a
“We do this together!” Ophelia stood center, Merrick and Hero on her right and Oswald on her left, she felt their auras pulsate in the air around them.“Are you sure you are well enough to fight?” Merrick muttered, his voice low only for Hero, but Ophelia heard it. “I’ve never felt better,” Hero said, stretching his arms over his head. Laura’s power healed the broken rips and wounds on his abdomen. He could feel the phantom of the pain where his shoulder dislocated, earlier a boulder fell from a collapsing house shattering his bones. Laura undid the damage with her healing powers. Ophelia couldn’t prickle to hear their conversation longer. Dustin stood before them unmoving, watching them with a cold lifeless expression, a smirk touched the corners of his mouth. It was the most upsetting thing Ophelia had ever seen in her life. It reminded her of clowns – the ones you run from.Behind him, the wall he built stood tall and thick, separating them from Noah and the others. Noah stopped
