78 A Tense Reunion

As expected, Michael turned his gaze toward me. This time, though, his eyes weren’t just cold—they were filled with a storm of anger and confusion.

"You can't kill him," I stammered, struggling to stand as I shifted back into my human form. I thought that maybe, just maybe, seeing me as I was—seeing the person he knew—might calm him down.

But instead of calming him, my transformation seemed to ignite his fury further. "You're still defending this b*stard after everything he tried to do to you?" Michael’s voice was filled with rage. "Have you forgotten what he just tried to do?"

I was taken aback by his words, and even more by the sight of him. Michael had shifted back into his human form too. It had been so long since I’d seen him, and now here he was, right in front of me, in such a chaotic and violent scene.
