77 The Beast’s Restraint

Everyone turned their gaze toward me as I dashed forward. They all knew the danger of approaching a werewolf in a frenzy. But I had no choice—I had to do this.

“Get back!” I heard Sasha’s frantic voice echo behind me. “You’re going to get yourself killed!”

I glanced back to see Sasha trying to follow me, but a man blocked her path. She was struggling against him, but he held firm.

As I got closer to Michael, something incredible happened. The strength in my body surged back. Moments ago, I could barely stand, but now I felt more stable, my legs steady beneath me. It was true that a werewolf’s mate could draw strength from their bond. My senses sharpened, and over the roar of the rain, I heard Sasha arguing with the man holding her back.

“What are you doing? Let me go!” she yelled. “Cecily’s going to die! Michael’s not himself right now. Anyone who gets close is an enemy to him! We’ve seen it before—he won’t snap out of it until his beast is completely unleashed.”
