79 Removing the Mark

Blood was everywhere—coating Robert’s body, soaking his torn clothes that clung to his skin like a second, shredded layer. He was a mess, broken and barely recognizable as the arrogant Alpha heir he once was. Michael stood over him, his eyes gleaming with a vicious intent that left no doubt—he wanted to end Robert’s life.

And then, with a speed that made my heart leap to my throat, Michael's claws slashed through the air and stabbed into Robert's neck.

Blood spurted from the wound, gushing in a crimson arc as Robert's head jerked back. The sound that came from his throat was unnatural—like two pieces of glass scraping together, a gurgling, choking noise that filled the silence of the forest. His arms and legs flailed uselessly before collapsing to the ground, motionless.

I clamped my hands over my mouth, choking on the scream that threatened to escape.

Michael had killed him. Right there, in front of me—he had killed Robert.
