Chapter 7

Evelyn was jealous of me.

It dawned on me, but I could not understand why. She had everything I wanted. She had everyone’s love, with affection levels at 100%.

"Evelyn, how about we make a deal?"

Evelyn and I were tied up on the edge of a cliff.

By the time the men arrived, my clothes were tattered from the beatings. Evelyn did not play by the rules. She had me beaten half to death.

My already frail body became even weaker.

A burly man with a scar held a knife, moving it back and forth between the ropes binding me and Evelyn.

"Jacob, you caused my father’s death, so I’m going to make you lose the person you love most."

He laughed maniacally.

The scarred man was someone I found using my system points. His father had died in that medical accident.

He hated Jacob’s hospital. He hated Xander and Oliver for using their money to cover it up. He hated everyone, including me and Evelyn.

But Evelyn thought he was just some money-hungry thug.
