Chapter 5

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed.

I tried to move my hands and feet but got no response.

A spark of hope ignited within me.

Had I returned?

I strained to control my eyes, darting them around. I was trying to see where my parents were. I missed them so much.

In the world where I had to conquer the male leads, my parents had always put their interests above everything else. To them, I was just another mouth to feed.

To survive, I had no friends, dedicating myself entirely to the mission of winning over the male leads. But all my efforts were in vain.

Other than my parents from the original world, no one ever loved me.

"Nina, you’re awake?"

Jacob suddenly pushed the door open and walked in. He looked exhausted but still sat beside my bed, soothing me.

"Don’t worry. You’re just temporarily unable to move. I’ll make sure you recover."

A chill ran through me as it felt like my blood was rushing backward.

"Why… why am I still here?" I thought to myself.
