Kayla.“I can’t do this. I’ve been trying this but nothing is happening”, I cried out as I looked at the woman who was looking at me as though I was joking. I had blood flowing out of my nose and that showed that I was making use of my entire powers to see that I walked again. “You aren’t doing something right Kayla. I mean, it would work but you aren’t doing it right”, she screamed at me and that was when I lost it. I screamed out of my lungs, causing her hut to shake fervently and then another party of the ground to tear open. “What the hell! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to do that. I’m just so angry that I’ve been laying down on this bed for almost two days and nothing I’m trying is working out”, I cried out, sniffing hard and wiping off the blood that came off my nose. She smiled softly and walked over to me, patted my cheeks softly and led me to bed. “You will be fine, Kayla. Just take a deep breath and relax. We would continue all of these tomorrow”, she said and I sighed d
Third person. “What other condition are you talking about?” Kayla asked the seer who cleared her throat and shut her eyes for a moment. She chuckled lightly after which she laid back on the bed and turned off the small lamp that illuminated the entire room. “It’s time to sleep, Kayla. You must not know about everything all at once”, she said to Kayla who was beginning to get angry because of how she pushed off things that were meant to be important. All through the night, Kayla barely got any sleep. She tossed from one side of the bed to the other, wincing in pain each time she felt the pain on her legs. Once it was daybreak, Kayla was already up and waiting for the seer. “You haven’t told me your name”, Kayla asked the minute she stood up and drew the blinds open. She smiled calmly and walked over to Kayla. “Call me Barbara. Not everyone knows me by this name. Most people prefer to call me the dark seer”, she explained to Kayla who nodded her head in understanding. Kayla’s m
Back at the pack house, it was a new day and a very sorrowful one for quite a number of people. The quad remained in a state of shock that they could hardly open up their mouth to say a word.Their father stared at them for a while, wondering how it was possible for the death of Kayla to touch his sons in such manner. He didn’t think that they were so close. As a matter of fact, after Kayla’s mothers death, he observed how they maltreated her and this gave him a sort of happiness. He wanted it to go on that way but then, all of a sudden, things started taking a different direction and that was what he did not like. He still recalled the number of times the quad took Kayla’s side against his. It stung his heart and made the hate he had for Kayla grow with full force. However, she was dead now and he couldn’t withhold the excitement that flowed through his veins. He was scared of Kayla because there was something fierce about her. He couldn’t place his hands on what it was but each
Kayla. “What was the condition you spoke about yesterday?” I asked Barbara who was still screaming in excitement because of how I was able to make use of my powers to get myself to walk again. This was truly strange. On my part, I was yet to fully sink into the fact that I actually had powers that were able to make my legs walk again, even if they were going to get paralyzed if I was a normal person. “You should relish in the present excitement. You have great powers that have never existed before”, she dropped and somehow, my mood went sour. It was a big thing and at the same time, it looked scary. She earlier told me that I would be in danger if anyone came to learn of the type of powers I possessed and so, what was there to be happy about. The only thing I wanted at this point was to find out who killed my mother and take my revenge on him or her. I didn’t want to care much about the powers because they would probably remain hidden for the rest of my life. “Stop. Stop what you
Third person.Kayla opened her eyes and found herself at the back of the pack house. That was the main place she had in her mind when she was trying to use the teleporting power. This was because it was usually scanty and that meant that no one would be there to see her. No…they couldn’t actually see her because her main body was back at Barbara’s hut. Kayla took in a deep breath, feeling so shocked and surprised to see that she was actually able to pull off something of this nature. She was really special and it was just at this point she was beginning to realize that. She walked closer and caught sight of few people scattered across the pack house, most of them were chattering excitedly and for a minute, Kayla forgot that they were actually gathered together for her funeral. Was that how much people hated her? Just then, she heard noises and voices that sounded so familiar. It was that of Jason and her step father. “Father, you are so selfish! You are only after things that co
Third person. Kayla opened her eyes and found herself sitting inside Barbara’s hut. Barbara had a small smile on her face as she gazed at Kayla whose eyes were filled with tears. “They feel my absence. Jason was crying. I mean, they love me”, Kayla said to Barbara who nodded her head calmly. “Like I said, nothing is a mistake. The moon goodness knows why everything happened and she had a reason for making the four boys your mate. Like I said, you would need them as you progress in life”, Barbara said to Kayla who gulped down hard and nodded in affirmation. “They all think I’m dead. What should be the first step to take. I don’t think it would be wise to show up in their faces, would it?” Kayla questioned Barbara who didn’t seem to have an idea about what she had just asked. After what seemed like ages, Barbara finally walked over to Kayla and cupped her cheeks into her hands. “I think this is the time to tell you the condition I spoke about all these while. It’s the hardest and s
Jason. I sat down at the garden, with my hands wrapped around my chest and the wind whipping through my face. My eyes were still swollen and it was hard to believe that I cried for Kayla. I guess nothing pained me the way the news of her demise did. It felt as though a part of my heart was taken away from me right under my watch. “Jason?” Ethan called out as he walked over to me, taking a seat beside me and sparing a second to take a careful look at me. “Are you still crying?” He asked and I took in a deep breath. “I guess I became vulnerable after all. All these while, I felt that being kind and close to her would make me vulnerable. I had no idea that I was already vulnerable before trying to prevent it”, I explained to Ethan who pulled me into a very warm hug. “This was her favorite place in this house. She loved the garden so much that she would come here each time she felt sad”, Ethan explained and I nodded, with a sad smile across my face. “It’s so hard to believe that sh
Kayla. Jason seemed to be the first person I could make my first appearance to. I had no idea of why the case was that way, but I didn’t push the feeling to do that. “You were at the funeral?” Jason asked again, still trying to ascertain if he heard me correctly. I took in a deep breath as I prepared myself to break the information to him. “Well…I have no idea of how to say this yet. But then, I really need to let this off my chest and think of what next to do”, I stated, watching how he stared at me intently. Jason kept staring at me calmly, with his heart beating calmly but his face wearing a great level of excitement. It was clear that he was super excited to see me. After what seemed like ages, he pulled me into a very warm hug and planted a soft kiss on my forehead. “I missed you so much. You have no idea”, he said in a voice that sounded like a whisper. Memories from the forest started trooping into my head and for a minute, I presumed that he might be lying. He seemed t
