Time (Around 7pm)

He has been here all day.

Seated behind the door.

Waiting for his mate to open the door.

Devlin was not losing faith.

Even will definitely open the door.

Yes!

*Sigh, Devlin sighed, , already having second thoughts.

Did he really make the right decision?

Coming here.

Knowing it was very dangerous to be here.

This pack.....he hurt so much,.....turns out his mate was from this pack.

And he, everything was his fault.

Definitely, Even won't forgive him when he finds out.

But then, he still wanted this.

He wanted his mate.

He has been alone for so long, waiting for his mate.

He never gave up and he won't do that now.

Right then, the front door suddenly opened and lucky, he positioned himself well, who else, he would have fallen.

Even couldn't take it anymore.

It's been more than four hours and he was still here, waiting for to invite him in.

Even still wasn't feeling well and being close to this man wasn't helping.

He was uncomfortable!

Like really uncomfortable!

However, he couldn't let the guy stay outside alone, in this quiet place, knowing it was dangerous. Knowing he was a vampire and his pack weren't fond of them.

What if he got attacked?

Where his house was, there were many houses but they were all empty.

Some houses belonged to those who died in the war with the vampires and some were built to occupy people who had no where to go and wanted to stay in the pack.

Well, as long as they were not vampires, they were welcomed.

Also!

Even wanted to know more about this guy.

He wanted to know if he really was his mate.

Nervous, quiet, Even watched as the guy stood up and turned to face him.

Everything!

Everything played in slow motion and the moment their eyes met, the guy blurt out,

"My mate" smiling.

Even could smell his happiness, relief, gladness, gratefulness, he was feeling all these and he (Even) could smell........... He.....He really was his mate.

The man said so.

Meaning, he could believe his wolf now.

He could his body's reaction.

Even.......he (Even) has found his mate.

'I told you so' his wolf said and he ignored him.

Even wasn't feeling well.

His body wasn't helping but he did not want to give up.

He'll control himself.

He won't kick him out.

He won't slam the door on his face twice.

He'll fight for control.

"Even" he called out to him and Even snapped out of his thoughts, staring at him, eyes widened.

Seriously?!

What has he done in his life?

What has he done to deserve such a gorgeous man!

He has never seen a guy like him!

He seemed to be in his late 30s.

But Even knew he was above that.

Gorgeous! Really gorgeous!

Long black hair and red eyes.

Tall, fair, pale skinned.

And his scent.......

His scent was to die for.

Even could smell him and he was going crazy!

His heart was literally coming out of his chest.

And his pheromones were begging to be released.

His insides were burning!

Driving him crazy! 

And he was up for something he did not want to say.

He was feverish, giddy.

This.....This was totally insane! 

This was the first time he was experiencing something like this and he was going crazy!

'He's our mate' his wolf told him.

Yes, he was.

Even believed his wolf now.

And he.......He didn' care knowing he was a vampire.

The kind his pack hated the most.

All he cared about, was that, this guy was their mate.

One the deities chose for him and he wanted him regardless of what others thought or said about him.

"Hi" he said, smiling.

Gaining his (Even) attention, again.

What?!

What was up with that smile?!

It was driving him crazy!

'Get used to it' his wolf said a smirk.

A smirk?!

His wolf's smirking?

I wish I can see that!

In the living room, Tristan, seated on one of the couches, watched Carols as he walked around impatiently, looking worried.

Fred had Minna and Sandy watching over him and that's why Carlos could be seen here, walking around.

Releasing how worried and impatient he was into the air.

Not like Tristan wanted to smell all that but he had no choice.

*Sigh, Tristan sighed, exhausted,

"Calm down Carlos" he said, rolling his eyes.

Stopping, Carlos turned to face him, "Calm down you said! How could you allow him to go out alone!"

He only left for the bathroom to relief himself and when he came back, the strong vampire was gone!

And the alpha mate watched him leave without saying a word!

He (Tristan) told him (Carlos) this himself.

"The pack leader will have my head! What if he doesn't come back?"

"We have his friend" Tristan replied.

"What if he plans on destroying the pack?!"

"We have his friend"

"What if he calls his kind to attack our pack?"

"We have his friend"

"What if the friend escapes as well?"

"You're here"

"Are you getting what am saying?!" Carlos yelled out, worried and annoyed.

*Sigh, Tristan sighed, again, "That's not happening"

"How sure are you?!"

"Cause Even is his mate" Tristan broke the news, just like that.

"What?!" Carlos exclaimed in shock.

In the house, Even sat on the couch opposite the one Devlin sat on.

Knowing his body's reaction when he's close to Devlin, Even decided to keep his distance.

Also,.....he knew.....if he was close to the guy,....definitely! He'll jump on him. Leaving no space or time to comprehend what's happening.

In any case............

 It was.......awkward!

Both were nervous. 

The sound of their heart beats was loud in their ears.

But none of them wanted to comment on that.

Even, was still not feeling good but at least his insides were no longer burning up and he was no longer feverish.

That said a lot, right?

"You have a nice house" Devlin said, looking around.

Deities knew, he (Devlin) has never felt this awkward.

Or nervous!

He (Even)  has never wanted anyone close!

But with Even, he wanted him closer.

Closer!

Leaving no room for him (Devlin) to breathe.

"T—Thanks" Even replied.

This.....This was all he wanted!

Having his mate in his house.

This was all he wanted!

Come to think of it,......

"What's your name?" He asked and Devlin looked at him, smiling.

His eyes, saying how happy he was.

Even only asked for his name.

And he looked so happy.

Like he just won millions of dollars.

"Devlin Von Delmar" he answered and Even smiled for the first time since they met.

Devlin could not stop staring at him.

He (Devlin) was happy.

Excited!

"That's sounds like a vampire's name" Even said, smiling.

"What about you?" He asked.

"You already know my name, right?" Even asked, smiling.

"Yes, but, is not the same" he replied.

Blushing, Even looked down, whispering, "Even Truth" however, Devlin heard it loud and clear.

He was a vampire.

Had a good sense of hearing.

"Have a brother or sister?" He asked and Even looked up, smiling.

Cheeks reddened.

He was blushing.

He looked cute.

Devlin thought, smiling.

"One brother. Roy Truth" Even answered.

"I'm guessing you're the oldest"

"I am" Even replied.

"Where's your brother?"

"Out of town. A lot happened and we found out a lot. You'll know all that later"

"Okay" Devlin said and Mr silence took control.

Mr Awkwardness getting involved.

Seriously, these two (Mr Silence and Mr Awkwardness) never give up.

'Go sit beside him or invite him to sit beside you' his wolf told him.

That's too quick.

Sure they were mates but that didn't meant they had to like or love each other.

Even was not like Lvan and Tristan or Chris, Colten and Jake.

He wanted to take this slow.

Get to know each other, fall in love before anything else.

He won't jump into bed with him just because he (Devlin) was his mate.

'Tell that to your body' his wolf said, rolling his eyes.

Well, his wolf had a point there.

His body, disapproved with his decision and he was controlling himself not to do anything he'll regret later.

'Also, Tristan and Jake are omegas, is understandable that they jumped into beds with their mates'

True, his wolf was right.

He was not omega, so he was going to take this slowly.

As slowly as he could.

"Your parents?" Devlin asked, drawing him out of his thoughts.

Devlin watched as a sad look covered his mate's face.

Now, that was bad.

He shouldn't have asked after all.

Were they dead?

"My parents don't like me because am the oldest and am a beta"

Okay, that was just absurd.

Hold on!

He (Devlin) knew his mate (Even) used to take those pills but didn't know why or who asked him to.

Could it be..........

"They forced you to take those pills, right?" Devlin asked, surprising Even.

How did he know this?

Come to think of it,.......he knew what was happening to his body earlier.

He said he could help.

What exactly did he know?

And how was he going to help?

Also, how come he knew about this?

During the times he came over, Even never told him about all this.

Or,......maybe he saw him taking those pills.

That one time before his brother came over and told him not to take those pills again.

"Every time you felt me. My presence, my scent, I was with you. But you could not see me" And he (Devlin) could not leave the house, either.

"I could see you, feel you and you could as well. My friend, she's a witch and she helped me" Devlin said.

That kind of explained a lot.

Even thought.

"How long have you been taking those pills?" Devlin asked, gaining his attention.

After a sigh, Even answered, "I don't know but,.....it's been long. Since I was a kid. My parents will force me to take them and it'll hide my scent and pheromones. Make me like an alpha but I never got the traits of an alpha like my parents told me. I had the traits of a beta, what am born with"

However, Even never gave up.

Arriving here, he always trained hard.

That's why he was this strong.

Stronger, close to an alpha.

"How do you know about the pills?" Even asked, smiling, Devlin answered,

"I know a lot Even, but I can't say anything right now"

"Okay, tell me later" Even replied.

There was no need pushing it cause it looked like he (Devlin) really didn' want to share.

And anyways, he (Devlin) was around, so......sooner or later, he'll find out.

"So..........how did you feel after taking those pills?" He (Devlin) asked.

"Well, my whole body would hurt. I would release my pheromones all over the room. My body,.......more like my stomach. It would burn like crazy"

Just like he felt the moment he heard his (Devlin) voice till he (Even) came home.

Well, it didn' stop there, however, he (Even) was feeling much better now.

"And as time went on, I never felt the same"

Until he met him (Devlin)

"I take the pills and I don't feel any pain. Still hides my scent and pheromones"

"Have you met your parents?" Devlin asked.

"No, but they know am here and they still send the pills. I received a bottle this month. I was taking them until my brother told me not to cause it had bad effects we still didn't know much about. Omegas can't give birth after taking them. For betas, we still don't know" Even answered his question and he (Devlin) nodded.

"Have you threw them out?" Devlin asked.

"Not all" Even replied, honestly.

He (Even) still didn' know why he kept some hidden.

.............Maybe because he believe he might need them some day.

"Please do and listen to your brother. Don't take them again" Devlin said, gently.

"What do you know?" Even asked but he (Devlin) did not answer him.

"In case your parents send them again, don't take them. Tell me about it"

"Next month. They'll deliver it again next month. I don't know who they are but they will. Will you be here when is time for the next delivery?" Even asked, a bit nervous to know the answer.

Also, he really wanted to hear 'Yes'

He wanted Devlin, his mate, around.

But then,........

"I plan on staying here for a very long time Even. I won't leave without you" Devlin said, smiling.

Gosh!

He (Even) was really happy to hear this.

However!

"My pack won't accept you"

"I won't leave without you"

"I can't leave my pack either" Even said.

What the heck was he (Even) doing?!

Trying to push his mate away?!

Was he crazy?!

"Then I'll prove myself to them. You're my mate Even. I've waited for so long for you. I will not leave without you" Devlin said and Even could see he was telling the truth.

His eyes.....

His eyes said it all!

"I believe you" Even blurt out, staring into his eyes.

Smiling, Devlin replied, "Wonderful"

Gosh!

This guy!

His smile will definitely be the end of him!!!!!!

What should he (Even) do?!
