Even: You won't say hi to my mate?

Author: First of all, I hate that you're no longer single. Secondly, looks like your mate is hiding something and I don't want to be friends with people who hide stuffs. I learnt my lesson the hard way. Mavis broke my trust. She broke my heart!!

Even: Okay, then bye.

Devlin: Please don't worry, I won't do anything like that.

Evening.

Outside, a few steps away from the front door sat Devlin, on his phone.

After calling for hours, Devlin finally got his friend.

He knew she was a busy person and won't be easy getting her but at least he tried and succeeded.

"More than 300missed calls?! Are you trying to kill my phone?!" His friend, Mily said, annoyed.

However, he could sense how happy she was, relief in her tone.

Smiling, Devlin said, "Bear with me dear"

"Shut up! So!......... Found your mate?" She asked.

"Yes, and he's more than I imagined. I don't know him that well but that's how I feel" Devlin said, smiling like an idiot.

"Called me to feed me dog food? I'm sorry but am not a dog" Mily said and he thought, 'You asked'.

Well, even thought she said that, Devlin knew she was happy for him.

Mily, has always been there.

Watching him suffer.

Cry out for his mate.

Vent out his frustrations.

She knew what he went through cause she was always there.

Well,...........not always, but every time he was desperate, longing for his mate.

"I need your help" Devlin went straight to the point.

They didn' have much time after all.

"Again? Things are not looking well over here"

"I know" Devlin replied.

He knew.

He also knew he had to go back.

Soon.

"You have to come back. I need you" Mily said and he smiled,

"Hearing that makes me want to stay for a very long time" he said.

"Harley needs you"

Right.

Harley.

He almost forgot about her!

How could he?!

"I'll be back. But right now, I need your help with something"

"What?" Mily asked and he answered,

"My mate's friends wants to recuse some people in Cidna Pack. They need you. The beautiful, smart, powerful witch" he said and silence took over.

Devlin knew she was thinking about it and he also knew what her answer would be.

"Fine. Tell me what to do" Mily said and he smiled.

This girl, could never refuse him or reject him.

That's how much she loved him.

And Devlin, was grateful to have someone like her on his side.

"Great" Devlin replied, smiling.

"Then, send me their pictures. I'll find the perfect place we can meet and I'll let them know"

"Brilliant" Devlin replied, smiling.

Afterwards, Mily hung up.

That was just like her.

That girl never liked saying goodbye.

"You got her?" Even asked.

Hearing his voice, immediately, Devlin spun around, facing him (Even), he smiled,

"Yes, she'll help" he answered and a smile graced Even's face.

"Great" he (Even) replied.

"Ah, Even, I didn' ask this........are you okay living with me? How are you feeling now?"

He (Devlin) asked yet he did not want to take a 'No' for an answer.

Seriously! What was wrong with him?!

"Fine. Also,....... If you don't come too close. I'll be fine. And.......I do want to live with you. I want to know more about you. Please don't hide anything from me"

".............Okay" Devlin answered, hesitating.

He......He (Devlin) was hiding something.

More than he should.

"Then, shall we go? Oh, what about your friend? Fred?" Even asked.

"Fred........" 

Wow!

He found his mate and he has forgotten all about his friends.

These people (Fred, Mily and Harley), were the most important people in his life and he forgot about them after meeting his mate.

Now.........this was terrible of him!

He (Devlin) was a terrible person!

"Can he move in with us?" Devlin asked.

He could not and should not leave Fred alone.

He has done so much for him (Devlin)

Gave up so much for him.

Devlin should not do him wrong and must protect him with everything he had.

Just like he promised him (Fred)

"I have no problem with that but we have to ask for permission. From Lvan" Even said, smiling.

He really hope Lvan will agree.

Whatever his (Even) mate wanted, Even wanted to provide.

He wanted to see that smile of his, always on his face.

"Then, let's go in and give them the news" Even said with a smile and Devlin smiled back.

".........Can......Can I hold your hand?" Devlin asked, taking a step closer to him.

Starting to feel hot within, Even immediately took a step back.

"Too close" he said, heart already racing uncontrollably.

Disappointed, Devlin also took a step back.

Ah! Even hated that look.

He also wanted to hold his hand but his body.....

What exactly was wrong with him?

He was a beta, this shouldn't be happening!!!!!

Entering the house, Lvan, Tristan and Carlos watched as Even and Devlin took their seats.

It wasn't easy waiting, for more than five hours.

However, they (Lvan, Tristan and Carlos) did.

They had their lunch.

Came back here.

Talked.

About their (Lvan and Josh) trip to Jackson Pack (Dr Jerin's Pack)

Had their dinner.

Came back again and continued chatting to kill time.

While doing so, Jeol and Josh decided to leave.

Jeol said he wasn't feeling well and wanted to get some rest.

And Josh, he had to go back to his post.

Guarding the town.

The two left, leaving the four (Lvan, Even, Carlos and Tristan) of them.

Impatient, worried about his mate, Even went out to see him.

And then!.........we all know what happened afterwards.

"I called my friends and I sent them your friend's picture" Lvan said.

Devlin sent him Mily's picture before he went out to call her.

Immediately, he called Sebastian and told him, Zane and Corey about him and Mily, their plans and sent them her picture as well.

They liked the plan and were willing to co-operate.

That's if Mily agreed to help them.

Also, they were really surprised when they heard about Devlin who was a vampire and also, Even's mate.

"I got my friend and I told her everything. I'll send her your friends picture and then, she'll find a place they can meet"

"That's great" Lvan exclaimed, smiling.

That meant Mily agreed to help them.

"So, you came here for Even" Tristan said and he (Devlin) looked at Even, smiling.

Even could feel his gaze on him but he did not want to raise up his head and look up.

He did not want to look at Devlin.

His face.....

He could tell he was blushing.

Didn't want Devlin to see that.

That would be embarrassing.

Deities! He (Even) never knew he could blush so easily!

"How did you find out about him? Where he is?" Tristan asked, smiling, he answered.

"Mily helped. She said something about her friend knowing Even. With her help, I found out about Even"

"Really?" Tristan asked.

A friend who knew Even.

Who was it?

Was this person in the pack?

Who could it be?

He (Tristan) thought before asking,

"Also, you knew us already, right? Yesterday when we met,.......it looked like you knew us already"

Yes.

He (Devlin) did.

Mily helped, again.

A few words spoken on a mirror and he could see everyone in this house.

What they looked like.

Their names.

Who they were to each other.

Devlin knew everyone.

During the time they were questioning Old man Secks.

When they found out about the illegal trades and the experiments.

Devlin saw and heard about everything.

Their plans to save those kids from Cidna Pack.

"You can say, I spied on everyone" he (Devlin) answered, surprising everyone.

Including Even and finally, he looked up at Devlin, no longer blushing but really surprised.

"Should you be saying that?" Tristan asked.

"Should we be worried?" Lvan asked.

"Don't worry, I have no bad intentions. I only wanted to know more about my mate. The kind of people around him" Devlin answered.

Well, that made sense.

Also, if Devlin really was a threat, he wouldn't have shared that (Spying on them), right?

"That's sweet" Tristan said, smiling, watching Devlin and Even as they stared at each other, smiling.

Right then, the front door opened, gaining their attentions.

They watched as Chris and Colten entered.

Chris held his mate, helping him walk, looking so worried.

They (Lvan, Devlin, Even, Carlos and Tristan) were happy to see Chris and Colten but also worried.

Worried about Colten who couldn't walk on his own.

"Colten, are you okay?" Tristan asked worriedly.

They watched as Chris hepled Colten sit beside Even and then he sat beside him.

Holding his (Colten) hand and laying his head on his (Chris) shoulder.

Colten smiled, amused.

Chris was extra caring all the way here.

And now that they were here, he was still the same.

Colten wasn't that weak but then, he couldn't reject Chris.

Didn't want to.

It was nice getting taken care of by someone you love.

"Colten, are you okay?" Lvan asked, worried about his friend.

Finally!

He (Colten) was home!

Raising up his head from Chris's shoulder, "I see everyone is here" Colten said with a smile, looking at his friends.

Totally missing Devlin and ignoring that deep frown on Chris's face.

Probably there because he no longer needed his shoulder even though Chris believe he did.

*Sigh, Colten sighed in mind, he (Colten) missed his friends and their scent....

Their scent....... Their scent......

What.......

Finally noticing an unfamiliar scent which was that of a vampire, immediately he (Colten) looked ahead, Chris doing the same.

"A vampire!" Chris said, glaring at Devlin who sat on the couch opposite theirs (Even, Chris and Colten), looking nervous. 

Colten stared at him, surprised.

How come he (Colten) missed his scent?!

Before coming in, he could smell their (Lvan, Carlos, Even and Tristan) scent and not his.

Maybe he didn' notice cause he was excited (To see his mate and his friends)

But then...........

What was a vampire doing here?!

"Don't worry, he's powerless" Even immediately said, worried about his mate.

"He's not paralysed, is he?" Chris asked, rolling his eyes.

"He's my mate"  Even blurt out, surprising Chris and Colten.

"What the......" Chris said, finding it hard to complete his words.

This vampire was Even's mate?!

This bloodsucker?!

This guy?!

"He came here for me" Even said, smiling at him and Devlin smiled back.

He (Devlin) knew them (Chris and Colten) already.

Devlin wasn't scared but he was nervous.

He did not want to fight them (Chris and Colten) because he knew they were important to his mate.

Also, he could tell.

Chris and Colten were not ordinary wolf and dragon.

They were far more than that.

"Welcome to Moonlight" Colten said with a smile.

He (Colten) couldn't put a finger on but.........he could feel it.

This Devlin, was no ordinary vampire.

"Thank you" Devlin replied with a smile, relaxing.

"Don't welcome him Colten" Chris said, glaring at Colten.

Seriously! This guy!

Hasn't he notice?!

Colten thought, shaking his head.

"I mean no harm" Devlin said and he and Chris had a staring competition.

This bloodsucker,...... His eyes,..... The way he spoke.......

There was something about him.

Something that screamed danger.

Trustworthy at the same time.

That....... What was up with him (Devlin)?!

Chris thought, glaring at him (Devlin) while he only smiled.

Devlin meant no harm.

No matter what!

He won't fight.

Won't fight anyone in this pack.

Devlin thought.

"I see you're fine" Colten said, clearing the atmosphere.

His mate could be hotheaded sometimes.

"I am and it will never come again cause he's here" Even replied, looking at Devlin with a smile.

He (Devlin) smiled, glad, happy to know his mate thought that way.

"Great. And now, I can smell your true scent. Your beta scent" Colten said with a smile.

"You had us worried Even" Chris said, a frown on his face.

"Don't ever trade your scent, your true self for anything. You're priceless" Colten said.

Feeling guilty, Even had his head down,

"Okay" he (Even) said.

*Sigh, Devlin sighed in mind, he did not like that look on his mate's face.

But then, there was nothing he could do.

Even did not want him close.

"Oh, so, where's my mate?" Chris asked, finally remembering he had another mate waiting.

"He......." And before Tristan could complete his words, Jake's voice came through.

"Chris! Colten!" 

Turning to the direction of the stairs, they watched Jake as he walked down slowly though impatient.

He looked happy, excited and relief at the same time.

In fact, they (Chris, Colten, Carlos, Tristan, Lvan and Even) could smell that.

"Jake!!" Chris and Colten yelled out at the same time, smiling as they made their way to their mate.

Arms opened, Jake jumped into their arms after coming down from the last stair.

"I miss you guys so much! Why did you take so long?" Jake cried out, hugging them as he breathed in their scent.

Their scent......was still the same.

Still intoxicating.

And like never before, he felt more relaxed.

Relief.

At peace.

"We're sorry" Chris said as he (Jake) pulled away from them.

Gently, they caressed his cheeks and Jake leaned into their touch.

Realizing he missed them more than he thought.

"Are you okay? You look pale" Colten asked, worried.

That wasn't all.

Jake was too cold.

And......

Those dark circles........his yellow eyes were darker........ What was going on with his mate?

What happened to him?

His eyes weren't like this.

Also,......what was up with his mate's scent?

There was something wrong with Jake's scent.

However, he couldn't point out.

Colten thought, worried.

"Fine, just a bit weak" Jake answered, smiling but Colten wasn't convinced.

He was still worried.

"What about you Colten? Are you okay? And you Chris?" Jake asked, worried, caressing their cheeks.

Should he be worried about them?

Colten thought.

"We're fine" Chris said, taking his hand which was caressing his cheeks and Colten did the same.

He (Colten) was really worried and judging by Chris's behavior, looked like he hasn't noticed the changes in their mate (Jake)

"And the witch? That bitch?!" Jake asked, a deep frown on his cute face.

Gosh!

He looked so cute.

Chris thought, smiling.

"You killed her right?" He (Jake) asked and Chris answered,

"Mercilessly"

"That's great" Jake said and they (Jake and Chris) smiled at each other.

"Uh, Jake.....you.....you smell different. Are you okay? You look pale and skinny too. Didn't you take care of yourself?" Colten asked, worried.

He just had to ask.

Couldn't take it anymore.

"Well....." Jake began and from nowhere, Tristan answered,

"That's because he's pregnant" surprising Chris and Colten.

"Thanks a lot Tristan" Jake said, rolling his eyes.

Smiling, Tristan said, "No problem"

"What?!" Chris exclaimed in shock.

"You're pregnant?" Colten asked, also surprised.

Jake was pregnant?

Pregnant?!

This was the best news he (Colten) has heard so far!

"Should you be up? Do you need something? Water? Bed? Blankets? Pillow? Dr Jones?" Colten asked, panicking.

"He's not giving birth Colten" Tristan said, rolling his eyes.

Seriously?

What was up with him (Colten)?!

He (Tristan) thought.

"Have you eaten? Do you need food? Juice? Bathroom? Cloths?" Chris asked, also in panic mode.

And once again, Tristan answered, "He's not going to the hospital to give birth Chris"

Seriously!

What was up with him (Chris)?!

What were they thinking?!

"Let's go. You need rest. Come on" Colten said, gently taking his hand and leading him (Jake) back to their room.

Smiling, Jake said, "Fine" 

Chris watched them leave, smiling and still, a bit surprised.

"Looks like Colten is all better" he (Chris) said, smiling.

"Well, I will be if I was in his shoes" Lvan said.

Making his way to the couch (The one he and Colten sat on earlier), Chris took a seat on the couch beside Even, still in shock. "I'm going to be a father" He (Chris) said in disbelief.

Wow!

He (Chris), a father!

................This was the first time and he wanted to do his best.

He'll take care of Jake.

Never leave his side.

He...........

Shit!

Chris exclaimed, remembering something.

He looked at Tristan, feeling guilty.

Here he was.

Happy.

Excited!

Overjoyed!

Totally forgot about Tristan.

is feelings!

What he must be going through knowing his friend was pregnant and he (Tristan) can't conceive.........

"Tristan........" And before he could say another word, Tristan cut him off.

"Don't worry, am fine" he (Tristan) said, smiling.

He (Tristan) really was okay.

He was okay with this,.....right?

"By the way Chris, did Colten tell you? How come he got kidnapped by that witch?" Lvan changed the topic.

Tristan did not need this.

Even though he said he was okay, Lvan knew he was not.

Tristan wasn't entirely okay with this.

"Yes. Something must have happened, or else, Colten wouldn't be gotten captured so easily" Even said.

"Well, he said when they got to WHPB......"

"Got to where?" Lvan asked him (Chris) surprised and confused.

"We Hate Paranormal Beings, that's the name of the town. WHPB for short" Chris said.

"That's too specific" Lvan said and he (Chris) smiled, saying,

"Tell me about it" 

"He said, the witch was following them. They got to their rooms and she came there. Used magic on them and everyone in the motel. They got kidnapped and no one remembered what happened or about them" Chris continued.

"But......." Tristan began, confused.

Colten was kidnapped so easily?

That......

"Before she used the magic on them, she said she knew why they were there. They were on their way to Cidna Pack. If she let them go, they'll not only save those kids but destroy the pack and their plans as well and she can't let that happen" Chris said.

Their plans?

What could it be?

Selling those kids to the illegal humans organization or selling them to the vampires?

 What was their plans?!

Tristan thought.

"Afterwards, she used magic on them. It did not work on Colten and he played along, thinking he'll find something else about the trades, the vampires and the illegal organization. But then,......that witch used something else after taking them to her house. They couldn't move or speak or contact us. Just so the witch won't suspect anything, he played along. He couldn't contact us cause there was a barrier preventing him. He couldn't leave Sebastian and Corey who couldn't move or speak,, and so he stayed. And the mission failed" Chris said.

"Well, he could have just attacked the woman and gotten the information" Tristan said.

"Yes, but, that woman. She has placed a curse on herself. If she say a word about the illegal stuffs, she'll die"

"That's crazy" Tristan said.

She went that far?

Why?

"Anyways, I killed her. She didn't have to say a word and die" Chris said.

"What did Colten find?" Lvan asked and he (Chris) answered,

"Nothing. He said he searched the house, everytime the witch was asleep or left the house and he found nothing. She hid nothing in the house and never said a word"

"So, why didn't he ran or escape with Sebastian and Corey" Tristan asked.

That wouldn't have been hard for Colten right?

"Dear Tristan, Sebastian and Corey were trapped. Couldn't speak, stand or walk. The whole house had a spell on it. They were literally trapped in the house"

"Right" Tristan said.

When a witch casts a spell, only they can lift it.

Tristan knew that much.

"Do you know about the trades? The vampires involved? And the humans organization?" Chris asked Devlin, suspicions.

Yes.

Devlin knew all about them.

Everything.

But he can't say a word now.

Also, if he said a word, Harley would be in danger.

She was with evil uncle of his.

He'll only say something when Harley's back with him.

He........He shouldn't have left her there.

He should have brought her with him.

He made a wrong decision coming here with Fred alone.

"Answer me" Chris said, glaring at him (Devlin)

"Enough Chris" Even said, a deep frown on his face.

His mate (Even) was already protective of him.

This made him happy.

Devlin thought, smiling as he looked at Even.

"Fine! So, What about him? Where is he staying?" Chris said, dropping that topic.

He (Chris) did not want to be on bad terms with his friend (Even) just because of this bloodsucker.

"With me. In my house" Even answered, that deep frown still on his face as he looked at Chris.

"I'm not surprised. You got that house for your mate and now you have him beside you. Just didn't think is a male or a vampire" Chris said.

Annoyed, Even asked, "Problem with that?"

And Chris answered, "None. I have two" but were not vampires. He (Chris) thought.

"Great" Even replied with a fake smile.

Okay, the atmosphere was turning into something else.

They (Lvan, Carlos and Tristan) could see Even was angry.

He did not like the way Chris talked to his mate (Devlin).

And knowing Chris, he was not going to change his ways anytime soon.

It......It'll be hell living with these two (Chris and Even)

"So, you're not coming back?" Mandy asked, disappointed.

She was on the phone with Zane.

I'm not surprised.

Wanting to hear his voice, even if it was for a second, Mandy called him and he immediately picked up.

Not a second wasted.

"No, I have to save some people. I'll be back in no time" Zane said, disappointing her even more.

Two days?

Two days was far too long.

Mandy wanted to see him now.

Now!

"Give me two days. Just two days and I'll be back" Zane said.

And it sounded more like he was pleading.

*Sigh, Mandy sighed in mind, well, there's no need objecting that.

There was nothing she could do.

"Two days it is" she said, still disappointed and sad.

"Great. Take care of yourself, Mandy" Zane said and she smiled,

"You too Zane" she replied.

"Bye"

"Bye" Mandy said, smiling as she hung up, holding the phone in hand.

"Go back to your room Mandy. I don't want to hear about your love life" Jeol said, annoyed.

In his room, he lay on the bed, Mandy seated on the edge of the bed.

He has been trying to get some sleep but couldn't no matter how hard he tried.

And then, his sister came in.

Made herself comfortable and called Zane.

Seriously! Couldn't she do that in her room?!

Why here?!

"Come on, I want to be with my brother. He needs me" Mandy replied, smiling at him while he glared at her.

Annoyed.

"I'm fine. And I'll like it if you leave right now" Jeol said.

"Some single people don't want to be around couples. I'll heard it so many times and am experiencing it, right now" Mandy said, smirking.

Irritated, Jeol yelled out, "Go away!"

"By the way, I heard there's a vampire in this house"

"Leave!!" Jeol yelled out.
