Chapter 30

Amelia’s POV

It’s eight-thirty in the morning. Nyx has left for work. He came back at midnight yesterday and I don’t even know when he gets up this morning. He’s literally working his guts out. I want to check his injury and I still don’t get the chance. But I bet that wound is quite severe. I can tell from his pale face.

I get dressed, leave the pack house, and walk a long way to the appointed place, a coffee shop. It’s in somewhere remote in the pack and it’s a nice place for some private talks.

I enter the shop, order two cups of coffee, and begin to wait.

As I’m waiting, I look around the coffee shop. The wall next to me is something like a mirror, reflecting my face and my determined look.

Soon, the guy I wait shows up and sits in front of me.

“Hi, Duke,” I push a cup of coffee in front of him.

I can see that he’s a little nervous because I asked him out without telling him the reason.

“Remember that promise?” I ask.

Duke nods calmly. But he keeps drumming his finger on the table
