Giovanni’s eyes narrowed slightly, but his expression remained guarded after hearing what I just stated.

The room seemed to grow quieter as he absorbed my response. The questions he had lingered in the space, unspoken but clearly felt, leaving an almost tangible tension.

“I made every effort I could to bring you back to me,” he said, his voice strained and full of emotion. “It was a terrible mistake to let you slip away. But how could you let him claim you? How could you let him have you?”

His words were fierce, and I could see the anger and frustration in his eyes. His teeth were clenched tightly, and it seemed like he was trying hard to control his feelings.

I stood there, taken aback by his words. The fact that he wanted to get me back was a shock. But why?
