Elena’s POV

“Elena, why do you look frightened? Don’t tell me you’re going to trust him again?” Bonnie questioned me, looking at me with disbelief.

But I couldn't help it. I still loved Alex and still wanted to believe that he would change. And when he showed up at the police station, his eyes pleading and remorseful, I felt my resolve weakening.

"Elena, please come back to me," he said, his voice low and husky. "I promise I'll never hurt you again. I'll do anything to make it right."

Bonnie stood beside me, her arms crossed and her eyes flashing with anger. "Don't do it, Elena," she warned. "He's not worth it."

But I ignored her, my heart melting at Alex's words. I knew he was my only family, my only love. And I couldn't bear the thought of losing him.

"Okay," I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'll come back with you."

Bonnie's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. "Elena, no way!" she exclaimed. "Don't tell me you are going back to him!"
