Chapter 30

Elena’s POV

I stood there, stunned and hurt, as Alex walked away from me. I couldn't believe what had just happened. The man I loved, the man I thought I knew, had just hit me and called me a helpless orphan. I felt a wave of tears wash over me as I realized that I had been living in a fantasy world, a world built on Alex's lies and deception.

I knew I had to get out of there, to get away from Alex and his toxic behavior. I turned and ran, tears streaming down my face as I fled from the lobby. I didn't stop until I was back in one of Alex’s cars, driving away from Alex and his lies.

As I drove, I felt a mix of emotions: anger, sadness, and fear. I was angry at Alex for his behavior, sad that our relationship had come to this, and fearful of what might happen next. I knew I had to protect myself, to get away from Alex and his abuse.

I drove to Bonnie's house, tears streaming down my face as I told her what had happened. She listened, her eyes filled with concern and anger.
