Elena’s POV

"As I watched Alex storm out of the room, I felt a chill run down my spine. Something was wrong, and I had a feeling it was more than just 'work stuff.' I tried calling out to him, but he was already gone. And that's when I saw it - a text message on his phone left open on the bed. My heart raced as I read the words, my world crashing down around me: 'Meet me at the usual place. -K'."

My mind raced as I tried to process the cryptic message. Who was K, and what was Alex's involvement with them? I felt a pang of unease as I realized that Alex had been keeping secrets from me.
