As Daniel carried me to the room, I felt a sense of relaxation wash over me. He laid me down on the bed and told me to rest, his voice soothing and gentle.

"I'll clear the dining room, beautiful," he said, smiling. "You just rest."

"Hey, girl," Phila said, her voice bubbly. "I booked the appointment with your uncle, but he's still doubting my motive. I think he might have figured out that I'm not being entirely honest."
