Chapter 3

"Where are you?" I growled in a low voice.

"I'm… at home… working out," Donna replied, her breath sounding hitched.

Working out? What a load of nonsense!

"Send me a picture," I demanded, a scowl darkening my face. I wanted to see just how long she could keep this up.

"Okay… ah!"

Donna yelped uncontrollably, then panted while saying, "Honey, there's a cockroach. I have to go."

With that, she abruptly hung up.

"Hello? Hello! Donna!" I barked as my fingers tightened around my phone as if I could crush it in my grasp.

"Donna Hill!" I shouted, my eyes locked on the entrance of the Pinnacle Hotel.

Donna, I'd be waiting for you!

I ended up waiting for an hour.

Finally, Mark and Kevin emerged with a woman, whose hair cascaded around her shoulders, sandwiched between them. I couldn't see her face, but her silhouette was unmistakable—it was Donna!
