Chapter 80

Alexis's POV

I left the dungeon feeling a heavy weight on my chest. My hands were still trembling and my heart was pounding in my chest. Each step I took back to my room was heavy, my feet dragging as if I were moving through snow. The memory of the guard’s lifeless body, his throat being slashed and blood rushing out was repeatedly playing in my mind and I couldn’t shake it off.

When I finally reached my room, I barely made it to the bed before collapsing on it. I didn’t bother with the covers or try to get comfortable, I just lay there, staring up at the ceiling, trying to process everything I had just witnessed even the images kept replaying in my mind, Alpha Kane’s cold eyes without pity in it, the sound of the whip and the guard’s cries for mercy.

The tears came down from my eyes. It was hot and uncontrollable. I put my face into the pillow as I sob into it. There was no one to comfort. I have been damned into this hell.
