Leo’s POV

To say I was shocked yet confused by Allison bursting into my office and her subsequent utterance was an understatement.

At that moment as I gazed at the woman I loved, I couldn't wrap my head around anything she had just said but I knew I had to be strong for the both of us, so I took her hands in mine.

“What do you mean, baby?” I asked, caressing her knuckles. “Can you give me like a summary because I'm confused. How did she burn your house? Who gave you the news?”

Inhaling shakily, Allison squeezed her eyes shut for a moment before flapping them open and looking at me.

“About a month ago, a detective called me from New York, informing me that a new police chief had been reinstated and had ordered for the reinvestigation of some cases,” She began then sighed heavily. “Fuck, I forgot to tell you that our house burnt down mysteriously five years ago.”
