Chapter 4

Allison POV

"What are you doing here?"

Cole and I asked simultaneously.

"What are you talking about? I live here?"

"No," he shook his head.

"Um, yes I do."

"But you said you are a transfer student,"

"What does that have to do with anything?" I questioned.

"Oh fuck! This can't be happening!"

"What?" I frowned, puzzled be the expression on his face, he looked about ready to convulse.

"You are my mate, that's what?"

"Oh, I'm sorry that I'm not pretty enough for you, is that why you left me in the cabin stranded?"

I glared at him, folding my hands around my chest.

"No, that's not…"

"Babe, what are you doing outside?"

I heard Hanna's voice from out the hallway before I saw her.

"Oh, I see you've met each other."

Hannah said.

"You know him?" I frowned.

"Yes, this is my boyfriend, Colleen and Collen, my roommate, Allison."

She smiled

I blinked, trying to make sense of what she'd just said.

"Nice to meet you,"

Collen quickly took my hands and shook them.

My hands fell limp to my side.

"Is everything okay?" Hannah asked, her green eyes searching mine.

"Yeah, just that um, I was about to go to bed when you came,"

I lied through my teeth.

My heart was beating not just within my chest but I could hear it in head. This was the first time I had lied to my best friend in all our twelve years of being friends.

"Oh, I was hoping you could stay up with us to watch a movie."

*Uh, maybe some other time." I cleared my throat afraid to look up at Collen.

I wanted to scream, tell Hannah what her boyfriend had done but I couldn't, for the first time in my life I could not tell my best friend the truth.

"Well, um. I'll leave you two to it then."

I barely choked out before turning around and going walking towards my bedroom.

As soon as I closed my bedroom door, I began to hyperventilate.

What the hell had I done?

Shit, shit!

I cursed as hot tears rolled down my face and my heart threatened to burst out of my chest.

Collen was my mate… my best friend's boyfriend is my mate.

How was that fucking possible?

I needed to tell her, come clean with Hannah. I couldn't bear this burden on me and I couldn't let her continue to be with a douche like Collen.

There was no way I could betray her, she'd done so much for me, so fucking much.

I marched towards my door, determined to tell Hannah the truth but as I opened the door and came out of my room, I found the both of them making out on the couch passionately.

My breath seized in my lungs at the sight of my mate kissing another woman and felt rage within my chest and so did my wolf.

I turned around and marched back to my room and spent the entire night crying my heart and eyes out.

I woke up the next day feeling worse than last night. I had not realized that I had even fallen asleep until I opened my eyes.

I groaned out in pain as I managed to pull myself up from my bed.

I dragged my foot out of my room and went straight to the bathroom to wash my face.

The memories of last night came rushing to the surface and I winced at the fact that it wasn't just a silly dream that I had had.

Collen was actually my mate and also Hannah's boyfriend.

I felt terrible but what was I supposed to do?

She'd been talking about him nonstop for months now and I knew she was very much in love with him.

God, I couldn't believe this.

On one hand, I could tell her that her boyfriend was a douchebag and that we'd had sex but that would break her heart and it would be my fault on the the other hand it I decided not to say anything, I'd be letting a douchebag like Collen have his way with my best friend.

I ran my hands through my wavy blonde hair and groaned in frustration as I stared at my reflection above the vanity.

My eyes were puffy with all of the crying I did last night and my hair was a complete mess.

I quickly brushed my teeth and walked out of the bathroom and went to the kitchen.

The dorm was empty, thankfully and from the note on the fridge, Hannah wasn't home.

She'd written that she had to quickly run some errands for her mother, apologizing for blowing me off today.

I sighed, glad that I could at least take the time she's away to think about my next move.

I opened the fridge and found leftover pizzas on the fridge.

I opened it and there was another note from Hannah inside.

I took it out and read it.

Here's some leftover pizza, my credit card is in my room, you can get something for yourself, take it as an apology for my absence.

She was trying to make me feel better but I felt terrible. She was so nice to me

That was it, I was going to tell her about what happened. I'm sure she would understand.

"Hey," I heard Collen's voice behind me and

I quickly turned around to find him staring at me with nothing but sweat on.

"What the hell are you doing here?" I glared, my jaw clenched in irritation.

"Um…" he started, scratching the back of his head.

I couldn't help but notice his muscles flex as he did that. He was ripped with washboard abs and pecs that I felt the urge to run my hands over.

I shook my head, disgusted by my own thoughts. I knew it was mostly the mate bond trying to sabotage me here but it was up to me to control it.

"You know what never mind," I glared daggers at him.

"What do you have to say for yourself? Cheating on Hannah? Have you no fuckinh shame?"

"That's not what happened,.Ali* He explained.

"Oh really? So I fucked myself then?"

I asked in disbelief.

"That's not what I meant! Hannah and I were broken up when we had sex…"

I scoffed at his words.

"That was fuckin yesterday! Not only are you a cheat, you are also a fucking liar!"

"No, I am not," he groaned. "I swear. I can prove it to you."

He said and quickly fished out his phone from his pocket.

He tapped a few buttons and walked over to me.

"See…" he handed me the phone and I plucked it from his hands.

I read the content of the message and just like he'd said, they'd been broken up for a week up until last night.

"Shit!" I cursed under my breath.

"Exactly." He sighed.

"How the hell am I going to tell Hannah about this? She's going to hate me. Fuvk! I knew I shouldn't have gone to that fuckin bar!"

"You can't tell her, she's not going to understand."

He said, his eyes pleading.

"I have to, she's my best friend. I can't look her in the eyes everyday and lie to her, I won't be able to." I shook my head.

"I know and I understand but I can't let her know about the stupid mistake I made."

For some reason his words stung as if he'd slapped me across the face.

"You think I was a mistake?" I asked.

"No, no,no, you weren't, I mean,shit! I don't know." He raj his hands through hair.

"You should reject me as your mate, make things easier when I tell Hannah."

"Ali, you can't tell Hannah about this "

Colleen begged, walking up to me.

"I have to," I whispered.

"No, you don't, listen to me, we can fix things." He said.

"No, no, don't try to convince me of this. I may want you but I'm not going to break my best friend's heart for you who I just met. Once she gets back I'm telling her!"

I said firmly.

With that, I walked out on him but I hadn't even taken two steps when he wrapped my hands around my wrist and pulled me against his chest..

I gasped at our proximity and pushed against chest but instead of pushing him away, I found myself wrapping my hands around his neck.

"Fuck! I didn't mean…" Collen started but stopped, his breathing shallow as he gazed down at me.

Desire flooded his eyes and I couldn't help but be drawn to him.

"Please, we can't do this." I whispered, trying to stop myself and step away from him.
