Chapter thirty nine

Zack’s POV

I was elated to hear the news from her as she accepted me and went ahead to take away the whiskey from my hand.

“Don’t drink it,” I said, consciously pointing to her stomach as she chuckled.

“I wouldn’t dream of it.”

“It’s funny, you came.”

“I had to. I wanted to give you closure and tell you that I was sorry.”

I looked into the horizon.

“You know werewolves can’t get drunk,” she chuckled to me as I shrugged.

“You can if you add a bit of wolfsbane in it.”

“Wouldn’t wolfsbane kill you?”

“The right amount can weaken you, not kill you,” I corrected. “Bartenders at the bar back in the pack use it all the time. It would weaken the wolf and make you weak for some time but not enough to kill you or anything so you can relax.”

She laughed, looking at the drink.

“So… what now?”

“I’ve got to be at the edge of the pack by midnight and I have meetings with most of the guards there for multiple days. I won’t be handling the affairs of the main pack for a long time as that would be the
