Chapter-35(a) Game Over

Spike gazed blankly in front of him, completely dumbfounded. It was necessary for him to take action. He couldn’t avoid talking to her. Angelina was surprised to learn that she was not the lady she believed she was. He had no doubt that she was resilient, but he was convinced that the way she was headed would do her more harm than good in the long run.

He forced the saliva that had become lodged in his throat back down and made an effort to walk forward, but just as he did so, he was struck on the side of the head by something. When Spike took his hand away from his head after it had slowly touched his head, he noticed that blood was coating his fingertips.

He mumbled something about the moon goddess just before he fell to the ground.

When Arianna came into the light, she was holding in one hand the wooden stick that had an engraving of Spike’s blood on it. It was not every day you held a stick in here, but there had been one lying around, and she had picked it up to do her job.
