Chapter One Hundred And Twenty Nine

Adriana’s POV

I couldn’t stop screaming even as I watched Paramedics take Michael’s body away, nor did I stop screaming when he was pushed into an ambulance.

My body shook with something that I never felt before, it felt like some kind of rage, fuelled by intense sadness. It tore into my chest, numbing me momentarily but at the same time, gave me strength, angry strength. I yelled.

I wanted to ask Massimo about what had happened, wanted to be told in detail the complete gist of what had gone down today, some minutes ago, but then after one look at his face, I found myself sobbing.

He seemed weak… broken even.

He sat hopelessly on the tiled floor with tears streaming down his eyes in torrents. In his hands was Michael’s distinguished wristwatch, one which he now held onto as if for dear life.

Even from here, I could see the redness and puffiness of his eyes and could even see the now empty look that had replaced his usual sleepy dark boy look.
