Adriana’s POVI couldn’t stop screaming even as I watched Paramedics take Michael’s body away, nor did I stop screaming when he was pushed into an ambulance. My body shook with something that I never felt before, it felt like some kind of rage, fuelled by intense sadness. It tore into my chest, numbing me momentarily but at the same time, gave me strength, angry strength. I yelled.I wanted to ask Massimo about what had happened, wanted to be told in detail the complete gist of what had gone down today, some minutes ago, but then after one look at his face, I found myself sobbing. He seemed weak… broken even.He sat hopelessly on the tiled floor with tears streaming down his eyes in torrents. In his hands was Michael’s distinguished wristwatch, one which he now held onto as if for dear life.Even from here, I could see the redness and puffiness of his eyes and could even see the now empty look that had replaced his usual sleepy dark boy look. He opened his mouth like someone who was
Adriana’s POV“Gina, please can I see you privately?” I heard Massimo say softly to Gina. In my entire life, this was the first time I would see him this polite to her and I didn’t know whether to be angry or sad at the prospect of him being this kind because he was about to give her terrible news.“Where’s Michael?” She asked instead, ignoring Massimo’s failed attempt at trying to calm her but I couldn’t bring myself to tell her the truth. If there was anyone here with enough balls to tell Gina about what had just happened then it was Massimo and not me because there was no way I would break a news such as that to a girl just like me; I shuddered.“Where is Michael?!” She asked again, screaming this time, and in fear, I rushed to her.“He’s in the hospital!” Massimo exclaimed.Fine, that wasn’t a lie; Michael was in the hospital, even though it was a hospital’s morgue, but a hospital all the same.“What happened to him?” She cried, grabbing both of my hands as she fell to the floor.
Adriana’s POV“Gina! Please open the door!” Massimo yelled out worriedly. It’s been about thirty minutes since Gina locked herself in and every attempt to get her out of there seemed furtive. I was beginning to become really worried.I banged on the thick door a few more times but it still wouldn’t budge, and with a new kind of fear settling at the back of my heart, I looked up at Massimo.“Are there no spare keys?” I asked him and to my utter bewilderment, he shook his head.“There used to but I have no idea if they still exist or not. I have seen any of those in a long time.” He murmured under his breath, changing his position so that he could begin to hit the door with his shoulders but no matter the amount of force used, the door just wouldn’t bulge.“What do we do now?” I cried out desperately, almost tugging on my hair in frustration. I wasn’t sure why but I had a bad feeling about her being locked up in there.Deep down, I knew that she was in danger, a self-constructed danger,
Adriana’s POVI stared at the phone in my hands with panic creeping up the length of my spine. I couldn’t believe my eyes; I couldn’t believe that Caden would resort to something as crazy as this just to have me under his shackles. At first, I didn’t want to check his text but then curiosity had gotten the better part of me. I had been worried that he was about to threaten me, seeing as I had left the last time after almost killing him, but then I hadn’t expected this.I hadn’t expected to see a folder, and I hadn’t expected to click on it only to find a picture of my naked self in it. The picture was from a few days ago, probably around the time he had drugged me into passing out.I was on a bed with the bed sheets and my clothes scattered all over the place. Caden on the other hand lay next to me, he was also stark naked and his hands were wrapped around my midriff while his lips were around one of my nipples.Tears leaked into my eyes as I thought about how implicating this picture
Massimo’s POVI woke up to one of the most beautiful scenery I’ve witnessed in a very long time. The room was insanely bright and from the wall-length window right in front of my bed, I could clearly see the city below, I could hear the sounds of the birds chirping in the sky and of the cars below as they went about their everyday routine. To further complement this beautiful scenario, Adriana lay peacefully on the bed with her eyes closed in sleep. Her beautiful porcelain face shone in the bright light, making her seem more angelic than she already looked… if that was even possible.I watched her for a while, admiring the way her king eyelashes shielded her eyes, casting a beautiful dark shadow over her face. Even the way she sighed at intervals made me so excited, one would think that I had just recently won the lottery, and to think that she was naked underneath those bed covers made me even worse. I groaned.“Good morning,” her sweet voice said suddenly, causing me to sit up in
Massimo’s POV“We are all gathered here today to pay our solemn tributes to this lovely family, the family of Mr and Mrs George Greyson for the painful demise of their son…” The priest’s deep voice spoke loudly through the microphone, sending shivers down my spine. He was rudely interrupted when Michael’s father raised his hands into the air, causing the entire crowd to turn to look at him. When he was asked why he had interrupted the priest, he said; “you didn’t mention my daughter,”“Your daughter?” The priest asked incredulously, whilst eyeing Michael’s only sister, Patricia skeptically. Patricia noticed this and shifted uncomfortably in her seat.“I mean my daughter-in-law, Gina.” He supplied, pointing at Gina’s coffin. As soon as the priest got a whiff of what he was trying to say, he sighed, nodded his head, and with an impatient flick of his wrist, snapped;“I know! And we’re coming to her!”I wasn’t sure exactly what it was; whether it was the fact that Michael’s obnoxious fat
Adriana’s POV“Adriana speak, you’re wasting my time! I saw you at the back of the house pushing some food into your mouth when you’re supposed to be fasting! How can you be so insensitive on this special day?!” He growled, causing me to flinch back in fear.At first, I didn’t make sense of what he was trying to say but then when it made sense that that was the crime he thought I had committed, I exhaled in relief.“I am sorry!” I cried, pretending to be really shaken by the fact that he had seen me eating when I was supposed to be fasting on Michael and Gina’s behalf. “… but I was so hungry and my stomach kept hurting. I would’ve tried not to eat it but there was nothing I could do with the intense stomach ache I felt at the time.” I added, sniffling.Well, that hadn’t been a total by the way. I had woken up today with intense stomach pain, and then fasting had only made it feel a lot worse. Just when I couldn’t take it any longer, I sneakily went to the back of the house and helped
Adriana’s POV“I can’t do that! How heartless can you be?!” I yelled into the phone and pressed it to my ears while my hands shook in panic.“Do you think it’s that easy for me to raise such a huge amount of money all the time? When exactly did you turn into a charity organization that I have to donate some money to regularly?!” I spat angrily, feeling more infuriated than ever with Caden’s excesses.Right now, he was trying to threaten me into giving him the two million dollars he asked for, and no matter how many times I told him that I couldn’t raise it now, he just wouldn’t believe me.“Don’t test me, Adriana, I have his contact, and the more time you take to send me that money, the more I get the urge to click the send button.” He answered instead, choosing to ignore the part where I said I didn’t have the money.I huffed, blowing out my chest to relieve myself of the tension I was feeling in there but somehow, it seemed as though the entire universe was against me today because
