Chapter 5

She woke up early the next morning with a throbbing headache from too much crying last night. She cried until she felt empty and tired.

Her eyes were slightly reddish and painfully irritated.

Her throat was too dry and itchy as if she would catch a cold. She suddenly felt really terrible this morning when she woke up.

She refused to come with Jake and their boss Ace when he visited his family on their ancestral house last night. She said that she was not feeling well.

Ace didn't bother her anymore and just let her take some rest since he knew she was tired the whole day yesterday.

Her excuse last night seems to backfired on her now. She wasn't really feeling well right now but she needed to go to the office with Ace today because they have an important meeting to attend with the clients whose proposing new projects with the Welling's Sky-Land Corporation and needed immediate attention.

She took some pain reliever medicine for her headache before she took a shower and wear her casual uniform.

A white long sleeve blouse and a black pencil cut skirt paired with black blazer. Formal enough for an assistant like her.

She tied her hair and let her bangs covered her eyes. She put on her eye glasses although she doesn't really need it, she just used it before to avoid any suitors who's plaguing her until she get used to it.

She took a quick glance in the mirror, her eyes was still slightly swollen but atleast it was taken care of by the eye glasses, so it doesn't look as bad as before when she woke up a while ago, she forced a smile on her face.

She looked older than real age, she was just only 29 years old and she was in her prime age but she chose to looked dull and lifeless and it doesn't bother her anymore, she was already used to it, looking like that for almost five years.

Ever since she got divorced, she didn't pay more attention on her physical looks, as if she already forgotten to take good care of herself. what matters to her now is to earned more money for her family and their needs.

Most of the girls of her age would make themselves presentable, young and beautiful yet here she was feeling contented the way she looked so old, and ugly.

She went straight to Ace's room and knock on the door to check if he was ready for work. Since they all come here for work, and wouldn't stay long, Ace suggested that it would be better if they stay together in that huge villa since he was alone besides it's more convenient for him whenever he needs them both, he can just call them right away without any hassle.

Who wouldn't want a free board and lodging nowadays?

She knocks few times before the door was pushed opened by a beautiful woman with a messy hair, wearing a white robe. The woman looked at her from head to toe before she yawn.

"Yes?" in a half asleep yet annoyed tone and with an arched brows.

"stop bothering us, you get it?" The woman said in an annoyed tone then slammed the door closed.

"but .." she wasn't able to continue what she was about to say. They have an important meeting at the office today but Ace seems busy and she was hesitant to disturb him.

She tried to knock on the door again although she was hesitant she needs to do her job to atleast remind him about their meeting.

After a few more knocks on the door, the same woman open the door with an agitated look on her face as if she disturbed her precious sleep.

"now what?" She said in an irritated tone.

"I'm really sorry ma'am but I really need to remind Mr. Welling about our scheduled meeting this morning." She replied in formal manner.

"Don't you know who I am? If I told you to stop pestering us you have to obey me or else I would tell Ace to fire you!" The woman said in a harsh tone.

"But ma'am.." she was about to say something when a hard slap landed on her face before she was able to continue.

Her eye glasses flew on the floor, good thing the floor has a soft carpet avoiding it to broke, she was shocked and she didn't see it coming from a decent woman like her.

She suddenly felt dizzy and the throbbing headache she felt before turned worst. Her hair scattered to her face from the impact and her cheeks turned slightly swollen in an instant and her eyes started to moisten with tears.

"Who do you think you are to argue with me?" The angry woman said glaring at her intently as if she was just a piece of a trash.

She wanted to slap her back but she forced herself to maintain her composure, she couldn't afford to offend Ace's woman no matter what happens.

She fisted her palm hard enough until her nails hurts her palm to ease the stinging pain on her cheeks and stop her tears from falling.

"Who the hell do you think you are to beat my employee?" The newly awakened man witnessed what had just happened, a frown was formed in his gorgeous face. They were both startled to see him right behind her.

"But honey she tries to argue with me." She said sweetly trying to explain herself.

"Get out!" He suddenly exclaimed in his loud and furious voice making them both terrified.

The woman suddenly burst into tears, she was offended in front of a maid and she couldn't accept it, she forcefully bumped her shoulder purposely as she ran away to leave, just wearing a robe and with a messy hair.

"Really? You're making trouble this early?" He said with a frown on his delicate face as he turned to her and shut the door closed leaving her standing still.

He was disturbed by their sudden arguing voices that's why he witnessed what that woman did to her.

She took her eye glasses and wore them again as if nothing happened.

The meeting with the clients was already over when he talked to her.

"How's your face?" He suddenly asked when they were alone in the office after seeing the bruise on her face.

"Nothing so serious sir, I already applied an ointment." She timidly replied while arranging files on the shelves.

"You should have slapped her back." He said in a serious tone but his eyes were fixed on his computer, busy with his files.

"But I can't afford to offend your woman sir." She honestly replied in a timid tone.

A soft chuckle escaped from his beautiful lips making her turn around to look at him in confusion. His chuckles make her sound so hilarious.

"She's my woman if I dated her a few more times in a month, and warm my bed everyday. So next time don't let anyone ruin that ugly face of yours." He said still laughing.

"get that, ugly duckling?" he added

She smiled sincerely. His words make her glad, knowing somehow he cares, despite the fact that he's making fun of her most of the time. She felt a bit of sincerity from the least expected person.

"But since you ruined my lovely morning, you have to pay me back, Ms. Ugly. Meet me at 10pm sharp in my room." He said turning his gaze at her with a blank expression.
