Chapter 5

Zoe's pov

I woke up the same as yesterday with my alarm at 5 am. I check my notebook and wake up Blake.

"Gooooood moooorning Blake!"

"WHAT THE HE.... hey Rose, sorry I didn't expect that. But good morning Rose."

"So I can be ready in 15 minutes, is that okay for you?"

"Yeah, so I will call you then, only if you want to see me dressing up or if you want to sing to me again I will stay here"

"I'm okay, thank you, I will call you, see you later."

I end the call because I don't want him to hear me singing again. I do my morning routine and change into a black sports bra and black leggings but with rainbow dots. Yes, I love black, I think it suits me the best. 

I get ready just in time and when I am outside, Blake calls. 

"So you ready?"

"Yes Blake, it should be me, who ask that, because obviously, you are not a morning person."

"HEY, I can wake up early but I just didn't have a reason before. But now I have a very good reason. So how long do you run before your shift?"

"I don't know, I have a place where I love to shift, but I think it's something about 30 minutes. Is it okay?"

"Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, I think I can survive that."

"Hey, you use Jake's catchphrase. Do you like it?"

"Yes, it's fun and I am looking forward evening because I can watch it again. I kinda stayed up late and I am already in season 2."

"I know that, I can watch it again and again and don't get bored, I play it in the background when I am doing something."

 "That's cool, I do the same, but I listen to songs because if I play some movie or series I have to watch it. I can't stop that."

"That's bad, I can."

We continue talking for the entire run. It's a change for me, but it's a good change, I'm not so alone anymore. I used to run with Meredith in the morning, but when she found out that Alex was her mate, she stopped, because they become inseparable. They are a year older than me, so it's a long time ago when I have a company with me. 

We said our goodbyes before I shifted and let Aurora take control. That was 4 hours ago and now I am in my office doing another set of paperwork. I have to work every day because then I have less work and when I have school I can fully focus on that. 

My attention takes an envelope from Alpha Julian, he is Alpha of the Blood river pack, they are our neighbors on our west border. I open the envelope and I look at the beautiful design paper. It is an invitation to a mating ball. A mating ball is not exactly a typical ball.  There are werewolves from many packs and they are trying to find their mate. It's something like speed dating. But here you are dancing because we are keeping it very formal. In most packs, it's almost a 100 years tradition. Before my parents died we were also holding mating balls, but we kept it small, just our neighboring packs, but when some pack members wanted to go in further packs to find a mate, we happily allowed it. But I have to think about it. Alpha Julina is almost 25 and he still hasn't found his mate. And now when I am 18 and can find him but I do not want to. But it will be a good opportunity to make more allies. It's no harm to have more.

'I think it would be a good opportunity, but I do not care what you decide, I know that it's better for our pack if we do not find a mate now.' Aurora says in my mind and it makes me glad, that she is not a horny she-wolf like others. 

'Thanks, Aury, I appreciate it.'

I will talk to Nate and Meredith about it. I have one week to make up my mind. So I mind-link them to come to my office and it takes just 5 minutes when they both come. They sit in front of me and I inform them about the invitation and about the possibility of finding a mate. Nate is always against it, he thinks that my reasons are stupid. He thinks that he is ready to be an Alpha, but I think not, the Elders also think that they want 16 to give him the position with me still being temporary Luna so I can do the Luna duties. 

After the war, we didn't have elders and I wasn't Luna, I was Alpha for a while, but when we decided to stay hidden, the older members of the pack became the Elders and I became temporary Luna because we wanted to honor my parent's wish of Nate becoming Alpha. And on Nate's 16 birthday we will have an Alpha ceremony and he will be officially Alpha of our pack. But we still have 6 months before that happens. 

Nate wants me to find a mate, so I can be happy. Meredith also thinks that, but she also agrees with me, that we should wait. After a while, we decided that we will decline the invitation. Now I am finishing the rest of my paperwork before I have to go get ready for another date with Blake. I am excited. 

I have time to take a proper bath, which is at least 1 hour long, I love to read in the bath. After 2 hours I am ready and waiting for Blake. But it never happens. He texts me that he has a pack emergency and that he will text me later. But he promises that he will go running with me in the morning. And with that, I fall asleep.
