It was a Monday morning, and the sun was high in the sky. Unlike other Mondays, this one felt different.
Today, Macy's students were starting their exams, which meant it would be a hectic week for her.
After parking in the lot, she entered the building where her studio was located.
Let me introduce myself properly. My name is Macy Brooke, and I’m 23 years old. I own a music school where I teach students and rent out instruments.
Music has always been my passion, so it only makes sense that I do what I love.
“Good morning, Macy,” my secretary Lori greeted.
“Morning, Lori. How was your weekend?”
“It went well,” she replied.
“Zara called to cancel this afternoon's meeting. Also, you have an appointment with Mrs. Jake at noon about her husband’s birthday party music,” she said, reading from her notepad.
“Thanks, Lori. And please remind Class One to prepare for their presentation.”
“I’ll take care of it,” Lori said before walking away.
After a long, tiring day, I got home, took a quick shower, and made dinner for myself. While I was eating, my phone rang.
“Hey, babe,” I heard his deep, familiar voice on the other end.
“How was work today?”
“It was fine, but exhausting as usual,” I answered with a sigh.
“I’m sorry. Have you eaten?” he asked, sounding concerned.
“Yes, I’m eating now,” I replied, taking another bite.
“I miss you so much, baby. I can’t wait to come home,” he said, his voice full of longing.
“I miss you too, love. I can’t wait for you to come back,” I replied, smiling.
That was Derick Torres, the second son of the Torres family from the Waterfall pack. He fell in love with a human girl who wasn’t his mate.
We have been together for a year and are deeply in love. But little did I know, everything was about to change.
Derick didn’t believe in the mate bond or that the Moon Goddess could control who he loved. Falling for Macy only strengthened his belief.
He was drawn to my simplicity, and I fell for his charm.
The week flew by. After finishing work one day, I headed home. My apartment was just a few minutes’ drive from the studio.
When I reached my door, I noticed it was open. I walked in cautiously but smiled when I saw Derick in an apron, cooking in my kitchen.
“Welcome home, baby,” he greeted with a big smile.
“Well, this is a nice welcome,” I teased, walking toward him.
“I wanted to surprise you.”
“And I am surprised. Thank you, babe.”
We ate dinner together and chatted before heading to bed.
The next morning, I woke up to Derick kissing my legs. I looked at him through sleepy eyes and smiled as he kissed his way up to my face.
“Come on, we need to get ready,” Derick said after breakfast as we sat on the kitchen counter.
“Ready for what? Are we going somewhere?” I asked, confused.
“Don’t tell me you forgot,” he said, raising an eyebrow.
“Forgot what?”
“It’s my mom’s birthday tomorrow, and my brother is coming back home. We’re going to Waterfall. We talked about this two weeks ago. I can’t believe you forgot, baby,” he said, looking a little hurt.
“I’m so sorry, babe. It slipped my mind. Work has been overwhelming,” I explained.
He chuckled at my excuse, then stared at my lips with a teasing look. Pulling me in for a kiss, he said, “You can always make it up to me, baby.”
I blushed as he led me to the bedroom. Soon, my moans filled the air.
Later that day, after some shopping, we drove to Waterfall, Derick’s hometown. The drive was about an hour long.
“What’s your brother like?” I asked, breaking the silence.
Derick glanced at me, surprised by the question. “Liam is... different from me. He’s strict but also the most loving and caring person I know.”
I nodded at his words, but my nerves crept in.
“You seem nervous, baby,” Derick said, noticing my unease.
“Maybe a little. I’m worried,” I admitted, taking a deep breath.
It wasn’t my first time visiting Waterfall. Derick had brought me here many times, and his family had always been kind and welcoming.
But this time was different. I was about to meet Liam Torres, Derick’s older brother, for the first time.
I stared out of the car window, trying to shake off the restless feeling in my chest.
Derick parked the car in front of the pack house, and Leon, the pack’s Gamma, walked up to greet them. After exchanging pleasantries, they all walked into the mansion. Mom and Macy hugged as soon as they saw each other.Derick pulled Macy to his room so she could freshen up, and later, they came down for dinner.“This is so tasty, Mrs. Torres! It’s been a while, and I can’t believe I forgot how good your cooking is,” Macy said while eating.“Don’t mind my son for not bringing you here as often as he should,” Mom replied, giving Derick a playful glare.“Mom, I’ve been really busy. It’s not my fault. By the way, where are Dad and Liam? I haven’t seen them since we arrived,” Derick asked.“They had some business to take care of in the neighboring pa—um, I mean, community,” Mom said, stumbling slightly before clearing her throat. She caught herself just in time. Derick handed her a glass of water, and they exchanged a quick glance. Macy, however, didn’t notice anything as she was fully
Macy's POVThe party had started, and the crowd poured in. It was a grand event, filled with so many important people, and it made me wonder just how rich the Torres family was. Well, that’s a question for another day.“Now, aren’t you the most gorgeous woman under this roof?”Derick’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I smiled at his words. He always knew how to make me happy.“Thanks, babe.”“Come on, dance with me.” He took my hand and led me to the dance floor. We started moving to the rhythm of the music.I noticed several women staring at Derick, their eyes filled with longing, while they glared at me like I’d stolen something that belonged to them. I ignored them and focused on enjoying the moment with my man, who couldn’t take his eyes off me.We danced for a while until my bladder demanded relief. Excusing myself, I headed to the ladies’ room. When I returned to the party, I felt a pair of eyes watching me. I couldn’t figure out who it was, but the feeling made my skin t
Chapter fourMacy's POVThe silence in the dining room was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I couldn’t eat anything on my plate. I just sat there frozen, his eyes watching my every move like a hawk. I felt so small under his gaze.“Liam, have you met Macy? Derick’s girlfriend,” Mr. Torres finally broke the silence.“Yes, I have,” he replied, looking straight into my eyes. I shifted uncomfortably in my chair, hating the attention on me.“You ran off earlier when I introduced her to you, Liam. Now Macy thinks you don’t like her,” Derick said to his brother without hesitation.“Derick, I had other things to take care of. Your girlfriend shouldn’t assume things,” Liam responded, irritation clear in his voice.“She’s not assuming, Liam. That’s how you made her feel.”The brothers’ conversation was starting to heat up, and the last thing I wanted was for them to argue because of me.“It’s okay, Derick. Maybe we just misunderstood,” I said to my boyfriend, who looked annoyed. Derick
Liam’s POVRage was losing control every second, urging me to snatch our mate and claim her in front of everyone. In my 29 years, I’ve never felt so helpless. She was right there, yet I couldn’t touch her or feel her.The mate bond called out to her, pulling me to claim her. It took everything in me to stay in control.Last night, I dreamed of us together, with our pups running around the pack house. We looked so happy. It was everything I’ve ever wanted. So why would the moon goddess punish me like this? I’ve always waited for my mate, dreamed of her, and now, when she’s finally here, she loves someone else. And the worst part? That someone is my brother. It hurts more than I can describe. I know he loves her—I’ve seen it. He even told me once over the phone that he found his heart in someone who wasn’t his mate and didn’t care about finding one. I laughed at him then—who wouldn’t want their mate? But now I’ve seen how he looks at her. Derick has never looked at anyone like that
It was already sundown when I came back home. I strolled into the pack house, dirty and tired. Rage was still on high alert for his mate. At this point, all I wanted was to sleep.“Son, how are you? Are you alright? You scared us,” Mom said, her voice laced with concern.“I’m alright, Mom. I’ll be in my room,” I replied quickly, not stopping to explain. As I walked away, I heard her whisper to Dad. “Something is wrong with my son, Ken. I can feel it. He’s not himself. He looks like he’s in pain.”“Calm down, Grace,” Dad said, trying to soothe her. “Why don’t you go talk to him? He might open up to you—you’re his mother, after all.”“You’re right,” she agreed. “I’ll go to his room now.”Mom walked into my room without hesitation, relieved to find the door unlocked. The room was dark, the only light coming from the moon filtering through the curtains.“Liam? Liam, son, where are you? I just want to talk,” she called softly.“Go away, Mom. I don’t want to talk to anyone,” I muttered fro
Derick's POV“Okay, Dad, Mom, you’re freaking me out. What’s the matter? Is my brother okay? Why can’t I go into his room?”“Well, he’s sleeping, son, and we don’t want you to wake him. That’s why, right, Ken?”“Uh, yes, your mother’s right, Derick.”“Are you sure? You both look tense, and you’re acting weird.”“I’m worried too. I mean, Rage taking over his body like that— I just don’t get it. He always controls his wolf. First thing in the morning, I’m talking to him. I need to know what’s wrong.”“Derick, please don’t ask what’s wrong with him. Just let your dad and me handle Liam.”“What are you saying, Mom? Liam’s my brother, and I have every right to talk to him and be concerned.”“We know that, but let us handle it. Your brother is fine, I promise.”“Are you sure? You’re acting like something’s up, and I don’t like this feeling.”“We’ll let you know if something’s wrong, Derick.”“If you say so, then. I’m off to my room.”Mom and Dad are hiding something from me—I can feel it. I
Macy’s POVI woke up sweating and panting—the same dream again! This has to stop. I can’t keep dreaming about my boyfriend’s brother. It’s been happening so often, and it’s driving me crazy.Shaking off the thoughts, I got out of bed and got ready for work. It’s been a week since the party, and I’ve been busy as hell.Once I was ready, I quickly left the house. At lunchtime, I decided to eat at the restaurant across the street from my office. As I walked in, I noticed a black car parked out front, but I didn’t think much of it. After finishing my meal in less than an hour, I returned to work. When the workday ended, I headed to the parking lot. That’s when I noticed the same black car again. A strange feeling crept over me, like I was being watched or followed. It made my skin crawl. Trying not to panic, I quickly got into my car and drove off.Liam’s POVI couldn’t help it—I needed to see her. Rage wanted her so badly, and it was getting harder to keep him under control.“Liam, yo
Our wolves ran as fast as their legs could carry them. The awful stench of Rogues hit my nostrils as we entered the pack’s territory. Rogue scent was like rotten flesh—the worst smell imaginable. We reached the pack house just in time. My father and brother were both in their wolf forms, fighting off these vicious-looking wolves. Without wasting a moment, Greg’s brown wolf leaped forward, grabbing one by the throat. He was fighting alongside my father. Greg shook his head fiercely until the Rogue went limp.“I need one alive,” I mind-linked before Rage, my wolf, attacked the Rogue fighting with my brother. Rage tore into its neck, ripping it apart with no mercy. The air reeked of blood and death. We had killed all the Rogues except for one, who was now locked up in the pack’s cells for questioning later. But I had more pressing matters at hand. Two of my men had been badly injured in the attack. They were taken by surprise, and it nearly cost them their lives.“Where were you, Lia
We arrived at the pack house, and Ripley was already waiting for us. Mom stood next to her in front of the house, both wearing worried expressions.I walked into the pack house, and they all followed me. Dad and Derick had also arrived. The tension in the air was thick, and my wolf was angry. I was angry. We both wanted blood.“Ripley, we have a situation, and your ability is highly needed,” I told her.Ripley is a pack member and one of my trusted allies. She is both a werewolf and a witch. Her father was mated to a witch, and together they had her, making her a were-witch, as her type is called. She is the help we need to figure out why my mate is suddenly missing.“I am always at your beck and call, Alpha. What do you need me to do?” Ripley said as she bowed her head to me.“As you’ve heard, my mate and the future Luna of Waterfall Pack have gone missing a few hours ago. I need your help to find out where she is,” I explained.“Okay, Alpha, but I would need some of her belonging
Liam POVThe words coming out of my beta's mouth were confusing. I couldn't fathom what he was saying. How could she go missing when I spoke to her just an hour ago? He was supposed to bring her here."What are you saying? Greg, you were supposed to bring my mate home!" I yell at my Beta."Alpha, I am sorry, I arrived late," Greg says, his head bent low."Where is Macy?" I ask, my Alpha aura leaking out as I face my Beta. My wolf growls and paces angrily in my head at his words. Greg falls to his knees, gasping in pain as my aura suppresses him. My brother groans painfully, his hands on his head due to my aura, and my parents do the same as they all howl in pain.Despite my family being Alphas themselves, my aura still affects them. What makes my brother and me stronger is the fact that my mom is an Alpha. Her father was an Alpha, and a powerful one at that, which makes her an Alpha. She is now mated to a Waterfall Alpha, and together, they had us. Our genes are strong because we
Liam POVThe moment I answered her call, my heart raced as I heard her panicked voice over the phone. After hearing her reason for calling and that she was fine, my fear subsided.I knew this moment would come eventually, but I never imagined Derick finding out the way he did. I'll wait for his arrival; he knows better than to start a fight with me, but if he does, I won't have a choice but to fight him. Brother or not.I mind-linked Greg to come over to my office immediately. I heard a knock on the door, and I knew it was my Beta. “Come in, Greg.”“You called for me, Alpha?”“Yes, I did. I have something important I need you to do for me,” I explained.“Anything, Alpha. What do you want me to do?”“I need you to go over to Macy's house and bring her here.”"Alpha, I mean no disrespect, but are you sure about what you're asking me to do?” Greg asked, looking concerned.“Yes. Derick found out I took her to the beach house. According to her, he's furious. He just left her apartment and
Macy's povI stared at the pictures, my hands shaking as I held them. Staring right back at me was a picture of myself and Liam walking together on the beach. There were so many pictures of us together at Liam's beach house, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.My heart was beating so fast and loud, it felt like it could be heard from a mile away.“De...De...rick, what is this?” I asked Derick, stuttering.“I’m all ears, Macy. I’m waiting for an explanation,” he said in a very calm tone, but it scared the hell out of me.I stayed quiet, not knowing what to say. How did he get these? I asked myself. What should I do? I can’t let a fight break out because of my selfishness. How can I want two brothers at the same time? I thought.Derick stared at me, his eyes not moving an inch from my face as he studied me. The tension in the room was so thick, it became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.“I’m waiting, Macy. These pictures won’t explain themselves,” he said.“Derick, it’s
I quickly took a shower and left the house. I got in my car and drove off. Arriving at Macy's apartment, I sat in my car, contemplating whether I should go up or not. It was the weekend, and she didn’t have work today, so I knew she was home.If there’s one thing the Moon Goddess blessed me with, it’s my sensitive nose. Among my pack, my sense of smell is the best. I don’t know why, but I’ve always been the one who could perceive things from afar, even at a young age. I smelled it again—werewolf. This one’s close, I thought. Why are shape-shifters suddenly interested in this neighborhood? I sat in my car, eyes wandering around, hoping I might catch him this time. I stepped out of my car and followed the scent in its direction. The moment he saw me, he darted off running again. Not this time. I’m not letting you go that easy again, I muttered as I chased him into the woods opposite the apartment building. He was fast, but not as fast as me. In no time, I caught up with him, hit hi
I lost track of time as I sat there, drowning in the sorrow of my brother's betrayal. The liquor had already done its work. I knew I was beyond drunk. I looked up and saw Miles still rooted in his seat, typing away at something on his phone. Not only that, but I felt hands on my shoulder. I turned to see Macy in a beautiful red dress. She smiled at me, and I was confused. When did she get here?“Macy? What are you doing here?”“I’m here for you, Derick. I missed you so much.”That voice didn’t sound like Macy’s, I thought. And Macy’s hair color is black, but the Macy in front of me was blonde. I blinked my eyes, maybe they were deceiving me.“How did you get here?” I asked in my drunk voice. I stared at her face, and she smiled lovingly at me. My heart fluttered at her actions. If this was a dream, then I’d rather not wake up, I thought. She raised her hand and touched my face with her soft fingers. I held onto her hand, keeping it there.“Derick, you called me over. Don’t you reme
Derick's POVMy heart ached as I drove away. I felt betrayed. What possible reason would Macy have to lie to me? I know my girl something’s wrong. I swear, if Liam so much as laid a hand on her, I would kill him. I don’t fucking care that he’s the pack’s Alpha. Macy’s my world. I’ve never loved like this in my life. She completes me. These past two years with her have been the best of my entire existence. I won’t lose her, not now or ever.I drove to one of the clubs I own. I fucking needed a drink. Going back to Waterfall isn’t an option right now. I don’t think I’ll be able to control myself around Liam, not until I figure out what’s going on and why the hell he’s involving himself with my girl. I walked into the club. It was packed with drunk and horny people, and it smelled like sweat mixed with sex. I went through the VIP door at the back and walked straight to the VVIP lounge. A waitress brought me a bottle of whiskey. I didn’t bother with a glass, just downed the contents
I stiffened at his words, my heart beating fast as the room fell quiet, his eyes watching me closely. Did he see us? My mind wandered to what might happen if Derick finds out that I spent the past two days with his brother. A war could start between them, and I know Derick well enough to know he won't let it slide. No… no, he can't know what happened, it would break him."Derick, what are you talking about? Uh, of course, there's no one else," I told him, avoiding his gaze."Macy, where did you go these past two days? This time, I want the truth." He said, staring deeply into my eyes."I… I already told you I visited home. What? You don't believe me? So now you think I'm lying?"I yelled at him, still trying to defend myself, knowing it was the only way to prevent chaos. He shook his head at me and pointed his finger in my direction."LIAR!"He growled, and my body trembled at his outburst. He scared me so much right now."I'm not lying. Please, Derick, you have to believe me. Kindl
Macy POV These past two days with Liam have been wonderful. I used to imagine myself being the only one lusting over him and wanting him, but I guess it's mutual. I bit my lip as I reminisced about the steamy moment we had in his kitchen, the way he kissed me and handled me just like a real man. Yes, Derick is good too, but Liam—he is so different and better. We didn't do much, but I felt satisfied, my body wanting more of his touches. Everything about him is just so perfect, I whispered to myself, smiling. I went straight to my room. As I entered my condo, it looked like someone had been there. The bed was made, and I knew it wasn't me. Derick! He must have come over. Why didn’t I think about him? He must have been worried about me. Liam had advised me to switch off my phone, which I did. I'll have to call Derick later—at least I owe him an explanation for my behavior and my disappearance. I think I should invite him over for dinner. I could prepare his favorite dishes
