It was already sundown when I came back home. I strolled into the pack house, dirty and tired. Rage was still on high alert for his mate. At this point, all I wanted was to sleep.
“Son, how are you? Are you alright? You scared us,” Mom said, her voice laced with concern.
“I’m alright, Mom. I’ll be in my room,” I replied quickly, not stopping to explain.
As I walked away, I heard her whisper to Dad. “Something is wrong with my son, Ken. I can feel it. He’s not himself. He looks like he’s in pain.”
“Calm down, Grace,” Dad said, trying to soothe her. “Why don’t you go talk to him? He might open up to you—you’re his mother, after all.”
“You’re right,” she agreed. “I’ll go to his room now.”
Mom walked into my room without hesitation, relieved to find the door unlocked.
The room was dark, the only light coming from the moon filtering through the curtains.
“Liam? Liam, son, where are you? I just want to talk,” she called softly.
“Go away, Mom. I don’t want to talk to anyone,” I muttered from my spot in the corner of the room.
“Liam, I’m just worried about you. You don’t look well.”
“I’m fine, Mom. Please, just leave,” I said, my voice cracking slightly.
She moved closer, her concern unwavering. “Son, I can’t leave you like this. What’s the matter? Please, I can help.”
“You can’t help, Mom. So please, leave me alone,” I said firmly.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she insisted, sitting on the edge of my bed. “Maybe I’ll be able to help if you tell me what’s going on.”
“How? How can you help, Mom? Only the Moon Goddess can help, and I guess she’s ruined everything,” I said bitterly.
“Son, don’t say that. The Moon Goddess loves her children. She wouldn’t ruin you,” she said, her tone gentle.
“MATE!” Rage growled, taking over for a moment.
“You found your mate? Oh my goodness, that’s great news! Who is she? Where is she? And why didn’t you bring her home with you? Is she part of the pack, or from another?” Mom asked excitedly, firing questions all at once.
“Mom, she loves someone else! I’m too late,” I admitted, my voice heavy with anguish.
“What do you mean, Liam? She can’t love someone else—you’re her mate. Which pack is she from? Has she been marked by another? Answer me, Liam.”
“Mom, she’s not from any pack.”
“She’s rogue? Or what?”
“No, she’s human, Mom. She’s human,” I confessed.
“It doesn’t matter, Liam. Humans have been great Lunas over the years. There are many stories about it. It’s okay, son—we’ll find a way to convince her. She’ll be drawn to you. I know you’re scared she might reject you because of who you are, but you never know. She might accept you just as you are,” Mom said reassuringly.
I shrugged at her words. “I wish it were that easy, Mom. I wish.”
“Just who is this girl, Liam?” she asked, her voice softer now.
I turned to look her in the eye. “It’s Macy, Mom. Macy’s my mate. Derick’s girlfriend is my mate.”
Silence filled the room. I turned to see Mom’s wide-eyed expression of shock.
“What?! Are you being serious right now?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“Why would I joke about something like this, Mom?”
“When did you find out?”
“At the party. The moment I arrived, Rage smelled her. It broke me to see her with Derick. The bond called out to her—it was hard having her close and not being able to touch her, to claim her,” I admitted, my voice raw with emotion.
“Oh, my son, I’m so sorry you had to go through that alone,” Mom said, her voice cracking.
“The Moon Goddess decided to play tricks on me, Mom. It could have been anyone else—it should have been someone else, not her. I don’t want to hurt Derick, but I can’t give up on her, Mom. I just can’t.”
Kendrick’s POV
“I can’t believe the Goddess has chosen to hurt my boys this way,” I said, pacing the room.
“Liam is the Alpha of this pack, and an Alpha needs his fated Luna more than anyone. It’s crucial for the pack’s strength and future pups. Grace, you and I both know that Derick is head over heels in love with Macy. He’s not concerned about the bond, and since he’s not the Alpha, he isn’t obliged to be with his fated mate, even though he has Alpha blood.”
“Liam doesn’t look good, Ken. Seeing his mate with someone else has taken a toll on him, and Rage isn’t doing well either. What do we do? I can’t just sit here and watch him suffer like this,” Grace said, her voice filled with worry.
“If we do anything rash, we risk hurting our other son, Grace. We need to think carefully before making any decisions,” I cautioned.
“But we have a bigger problem, Ken. Macy doesn’t even know about us. She doesn’t know what we are or that she’s mated to an Alpha. Derick has been keeping it a secret from her,” Grace said.
Before I could respond, the front door opened, and Derick walked in.
“What’s going on, Dad? What’s with the tension in the room?” he asked, his gaze shifting between us.
“Nothing,” Grace and I said in unison.
“Are you sure? You both look tense,” he pressed.
We nodded, but I knew he wasn’t convinced.
“Dad, I hope nothing’s happened to Liam. Is he back from his run?”
“Your brother’s fine, Derick, and yes, he’s back,” I assured him.
“Then why are you acting strange? Are you sure you’re fine?” he asked again, his brows furrowing.
“Yes, we’re fine,” Grace said quickly. “Did you drop Macy off safely?”
“Yes, Mom, I did. I helped her with some work, and we grabbed lunch before I came home. That’s why I’m late,” he explained.
“That’s great, son,” Grace said, her voice forced.
“I’ll just go check on Liam, see how he’s doing,” Derick said, starting toward the stairs.
“NO! Don’t go,” Grace and I shouted in unison, making Derick stop and look at us in shock and confusion.
“Why?”
Derick's POV“Okay, Dad, Mom, you’re freaking me out. What’s the matter? Is my brother okay? Why can’t I go into his room?”“Well, he’s sleeping, son, and we don’t want you to wake him. That’s why, right, Ken?”“Uh, yes, your mother’s right, Derick.”“Are you sure? You both look tense, and you’re acting weird.”“I’m worried too. I mean, Rage taking over his body like that— I just don’t get it. He always controls his wolf. First thing in the morning, I’m talking to him. I need to know what’s wrong.”“Derick, please don’t ask what’s wrong with him. Just let your dad and me handle Liam.”“What are you saying, Mom? Liam’s my brother, and I have every right to talk to him and be concerned.”“We know that, but let us handle it. Your brother is fine, I promise.”“Are you sure? You’re acting like something’s up, and I don’t like this feeling.”“We’ll let you know if something’s wrong, Derick.”“If you say so, then. I’m off to my room.”Mom and Dad are hiding something from me—I can feel it. I
Macy’s POVI woke up sweating and panting—the same dream again! This has to stop. I can’t keep dreaming about my boyfriend’s brother. It’s been happening so often, and it’s driving me crazy.Shaking off the thoughts, I got out of bed and got ready for work. It’s been a week since the party, and I’ve been busy as hell.Once I was ready, I quickly left the house. At lunchtime, I decided to eat at the restaurant across the street from my office. As I walked in, I noticed a black car parked out front, but I didn’t think much of it. After finishing my meal in less than an hour, I returned to work. When the workday ended, I headed to the parking lot. That’s when I noticed the same black car again. A strange feeling crept over me, like I was being watched or followed. It made my skin crawl. Trying not to panic, I quickly got into my car and drove off.Liam’s POVI couldn’t help it—I needed to see her. Rage wanted her so badly, and it was getting harder to keep him under control.“Liam, yo
Our wolves ran as fast as their legs could carry them. The awful stench of Rogues hit my nostrils as we entered the pack’s territory. Rogue scent was like rotten flesh—the worst smell imaginable. We reached the pack house just in time. My father and brother were both in their wolf forms, fighting off these vicious-looking wolves. Without wasting a moment, Greg’s brown wolf leaped forward, grabbing one by the throat. He was fighting alongside my father. Greg shook his head fiercely until the Rogue went limp.“I need one alive,” I mind-linked before Rage, my wolf, attacked the Rogue fighting with my brother. Rage tore into its neck, ripping it apart with no mercy. The air reeked of blood and death. We had killed all the Rogues except for one, who was now locked up in the pack’s cells for questioning later. But I had more pressing matters at hand. Two of my men had been badly injured in the attack. They were taken by surprise, and it nearly cost them their lives.“Where were you, Lia
Chapter tenDerick's POVYesterday’s incident shook me to my core. It had been years since an attack on the pack, and none of us were prepared—least of all, me. I know I owe Liam an apology for the way I spoke to him in front of everyone. I panicked, and not having him there when it all went down terrified me. Liam has always been the one born for moments like these—the perfect son to lead and inspire. As for me, I’ve never been interested in pack responsibilities. It’s not that I don’t love the pack. They’re my family, and I’d do anything to protect them. But I have my own dreams—dreams of marrying Macy and leaving Waterfall one day.I sat in the living room, waiting for Liam to return. Mom mentioned he was attending to business in the neighboring packs. Hopefully, he’d be back soon.About thirty minutes later, Liam walked through the front door, looking exhausted. Greg was with him. Without hesitation, I got up and approached them.“Liam, welcome home. Can I talk to you?” I aske
Chapter elevenLiam's POVI was busy with paperwork that morning, attending to matters that required my urgent attention. I was still in my office when I heard Mom’s voice through the mind link.“Come, let’s eat breakfast together, son. I made your favorite,” her sweet voice echoed in my head.“I’m almost done, Mom. I’ll be down in a few minutes,” I replied. When I finally got to the dining area, Dad, Derick, and Greg were already seated.“It’s about time, Alpha! I’m starving, and Mrs. Torres here made us all wait for you before we could eat,” Greg teased.I glanced at Dad and Derick, who were both smiling at me.“Mom, why do they have to wait for me to eat?” I asked, raising a brow.“Son, I just wanted us all to start eating at the same time. It’s no big deal—they’re just being dramatic,” she huffed, rolling her eyes.“Alright, that’s enough. Let’s eat,” I said, taking my seat.As we ate, I addressed Dad and Greg. “Dad, Greg, and I have some business to handle in the city. We’ll be
Liam's POVGreg and I arrived in town that morning and parked in front of Macy’s office building, waiting patiently. Just like before, I asked Greg to choose a car with tinted windows, just to be cautious. My wolf and I were thrilled at the thought of seeing her again. Rage had been muttering non-stop in my head all morning, urging me to introduce myself to her as our mate and take her home. I wished it were that simple.“When you said we were coming to town, I didn’t imagine us sitting in a parked car, doing nothing but staring at an office building for hours,” Greg said in a bored tone.“What did you think we’d be doing, huh? Sitting in a bar taking shots or having lunch at a restaurant?” I replied, raising an eyebrow.“That sounds better than sitting here doing nothing. Alpha, we could just go inside, and you could talk to her,” he suggested.“Greg, I’m here for my mate, who doesn’t even know about me yet. You don’t expect me to just walk into her office and introduce myself, do
Macy's POVDreams do come true—now I believe that. I can't believe Liam is in my apartment right now. I mean, I never imagined I’d see him so soon, let alone have him bring me home. Yes, he’s my boyfriend’s brother, and I’m starting to feel something for him something I can’t fully understand. We walked into my apartment. I switched on the lights and led him to the sitting room. He looked around the house and took a seat.“Nice place you have here. It suits you,” he said.“Thanks. I just moved in a month ago. Plus, it’s close to the office, so I like it. Uh, please don’t mind me. I bet you didn’t want to know all that. I’m just blabbing too much.”Why the hell am I saying so much? I muttered under my breath.“You’re not saying too much. I wanted to know too, so it’s alright,” he said, smiling at me.Goodness! He is perfection. His smile is so beautiful I can’t stop myself from smiling too. I look down at my hands and bite my lip, feeling shy in my own house.“Do you want sugar or jus
Derick's POVI checked my watch for the 100th time. I was supposed to surprise Macy today, but I got caught up in an emergency meeting that won’t end. I looked up and stared blankly at Mr. Cole, who wouldn’t stop rambling. This deal is important for my company, so I just have to endure it.It’s surprising because this is the same man I’ve been trying to reach for months, hoping he’d consider signing this deal with my company. Then, out of nowhere, his secretary calls to set up an emergency meeting.“Why is this meeting taking so long, Tracy?” I mind-linked my secretary, who is also a werewolf.“I don’t know, sir, but it won’t be much longer. Please be patient,” she linked back.I shrugged at her answer. Well, I don’t have a choice but to wait until we’re done here.Liam's POV“Greg, how’s Derick?”“Still in the meeting. I just texted Mr. Cole. They’re still keeping him in,” he replied.I nodded at my Beta’s answer. I asked Greg to set everything up with Mr. Cole earlier this morning
Daryl stood over the fallen form of Vercus, his chest rising and falling heavily as the storm of battle subsided. Blood and sweat dripped from his brow, but his heart pulsed with a strange sense of peace. Vercus’s body lay still, consumed by the dark magic he had once wielded with pride. The power of Jeldon’s spirit, the malevolent force that had bound him, had been shattered by the strength Daryl unleashed, channeling the light of Yago Dir Gunther, his great ancestor. The battlefield was eerily quiet now, with the once fierce and chaotic battle reduced to hushed murmurs of the survivors. Vercus’s corrupted Lycans had either fallen or fled in the face of the united packs. For the first time, Daryl felt the weight of destiny lifting from his shoulders. He had done it. He had saved his family, his pack, and the Lycan race from the curse that had haunted them for generations. But the victory was bittersweet. The ground was littered with the fallen, and though they had won, the cost o
The night sky was thick with tension as the pack gathered at the outskirts of Star Crust territory. The air buzzed with the anticipation of battle, the final confrontation that would decide the fate of both the Waterfall and Star Crust packs. Daryl stood at the front, his posture strong but his mind racing. He had trained for this moment, but nothing could have fully prepared him for the weight of leading his people into war.Beside him were his father Liam, Greg, Asher, and other allies they had managed to rally, including some hesitant members of Star Crust. Mara stood near Asher, her face a mix of concern and determination. Aria was nearby, her eyes fierce despite the danger looming ahead. They all knew what was at stake. Vercus was determined to destroy them, and he had a dark weapon — Jeldon's spirit, bound to his will through black magic. As they marched forward, the sounds of snarls and growls echoed from the Star Crust forces ahead. Gordon stood tall beside Vercus, both me
The atmosphere at Waterfall was thick with anticipation. The once peaceful packhouse, usually filled with laughter and camaraderie, now buzzed with tension as the leaders gathered in the great hall. Liam stood at the head of the room, his face stern and lined with determination. Greg, a trusted pillar of strength, stood beside him, while the rest of the pack leaders murmured amongst themselves, their unease palpable, yet their focus unwavering. They had all felt the tremors of what was coming, but now, the true scale of the threat was fully revealed.Liam cleared his throat, commanding silence as he began to speak. “We’ve received confirmation of what we feared most. Gordon of the Star Crust pack isn’t acting alone. Vercus is behind it all, manipulating events to create chaos and eliminate us.”The room fell into a heavy stillness as Liam’s words sank in. Vercus’s name carried a dark weight, a legacy of evil and domination. A wave of disbelief rippled through the pack, but there wa
As Daryl, Leo, and Aria maneuvered through the dense foliage of the Star Crust territory, the air was thick with tension and the distant sounds of combat echoed ominously in the background. Each step felt like a countdown, the urgency to escape palpable as they moved closer to freedom. Their hearts raced, not just from the fear of being caught, but from the knowledge that they had to protect not only themselves but their families as well.Suddenly, they stumbled upon a clearing where a group of Gordon’s men were gathered, their brutish laughter filling the air as they counted their weapons. Daryl's blood ran cold. They had to fight their way through if they wanted to reach Waterfall.“Stay close,” Daryl whispered urgently, gripping Aria’s arm. Leo nodded, his jaw set with determination.Without a moment’s hesitation, Daryl charged forward, fists clenched. The element of surprise was on their side, and he was determined to make the most of it. “Attack!” he shouted, launching himself
The oppressive darkness of the room felt like a living entity, wrapping itself around Daryl, Leo, and Aria as they sat huddled together. The weight of their captivity pressed heavily on their shoulders. Daryl’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, each one more chaotic than the last. He couldn’t shake the recent revelations about his family’s history—the legacy of betrayal and blood that twisted through their veins like a venomous snake. Vercus's malevolence wasn’t just a personal vendetta; it was a curse passed down through generations, a darkness that sought to obliterate everything in its path.Daryl clenched his fists, feeling the sting of anger mix with despair. How had it come to this? The thought of Vercus wanting to eliminate him and Aria, by using Gordon? To snuff out the light of hope they represented, fueled his resolve. He would not allow history to repeat itself. Not on his watch.Suddenly, the door swung open with a creak that echoed through the room, and Gordon stepped
Author POVThe tension in the pack house was palpable, an electric charge that crackled in the air as Liam and Greg gathered with their family. Fear mingled with anger as they processed the abduction of Daryl, Leo, and Aria. Every moment felt like a ticking clock, with the fate of their loved ones hanging in the balance.Liam paced the room, his hands clenched into fists, frustration bubbling just beneath the surface. “We need to act fast. Every second we waste gives those bastards an advantage.”Macy, his beloved mate, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, her eyes brimming with tears.“They’re strong, Liam. We’ve trained them well. They’ll find a way to protect themselves. We have to trust in that.”“Trust is not enough!” Liam snapped, shaking off her touch. “I should have foreseen this! The Star Crust Pack has always been a threat, and now they’ve made their move. We can’t afford to be blindsided again.”“Liam, blaming yourself won’t help our children,” Greg interjected, his
Author POVAlpha Liam roared angrily after hearing the devastating news that his sons and their mate had been kidnapped. The weight of his rage threatened to crush everything in its path as he and his beta, Greg, hurried to the scene of their disappearance. The area where their car was parked by the roadside felt eerily quiet, the air heavy with an unsettling tension. They could still catch whiffs of their scents—faint but unmistakable.“They must have drugged them to carry them away,” Liam seethed, his voice laced with fury as he surveyed the surroundings. His instincts screamed that time was of the essence.“You think Vercus did this?” Greg asked, brow furrowing in concern.“I have no idea who orchestrated this,” Liam replied, frustration threading through his words. “The fact remains that we have numerous enemies at hand, and this could be anyone.”Liam's orders were clear: his men were instructed to secure the area, waiting patiently behind as they combed through the site for a
Liam’s POVThe tension in the pack house was thick, palpable, and impossible to ignore. My children, especially Daryl, were furious at Elaine and me for keeping the truth from them all these years. The prophecy, Daryl’s true lineage—these were secrets we had held for their protection, but the time for secrecy had passed.I had known this day would come, though. Sooner or later, the truth always finds its way into the light. For years, we’ve shielded Elaine and Daryl from the rumors that circulated about the Waterfall Pack harboring the lost princess and her son. Vercus Gunther, the evil Lycan king, knew better than to strike here—at least until now. We’d heard whispers over the years that Vercus had gone into hiding, but I knew better. He was always plotting, always looking for ways to destroy his only grandson before the prophecy could be fulfilled. My spies had confirmed that the king was rarely seen, a ghost among his people, leaving behind only the scent of death wherever he we
Aria's POVDaryl’s emotions hit me like a tidal wave, overwhelming through the bond we shared. My mate was a mess—sad, angry, confused—all swirling together like a storm I couldn't calm. The mate bond allowed us to feel each other’s emotions, whether joyful or broken, and right now, Daryl was shattered.I tried reaching out to him through the mind link, but he’d shut me out, a wall firmly erected between us. Leo had done the same.Gigi whimpered inside my head, longing for our mates. She could feel their turmoil, especially Daryl’s. He was the most affected, and I couldn’t bear the thought of him suffering alone. Leo, too, felt distant through the bond, and that worried me even more.I rushed downstairs, my heart pounding, hoping to find them. As I entered the living room, all eyes turned to me. Luna Macy and Elaine sat quietly, tears glistening in their eyes as their mates, Alpha Liam and Beta Greg, consoled them. The room was heavy with tension and sadness. Mara had already fill
