~Aubrey
As I'm dragged away in the police car, I feel a wave of despair wash over me. I'm trapped in a living nightmare, with no escape and not only have I been reborn into the life of a mistreated wife, but now I'm being charged with murder. The injustice of it all feels suffocating. As I think about Marilyn's distraught face, tears start to pour down my cheeks. She believes in my innocence and is trying to save me from this nightmare, but she has no idea that I'm actually Aubrey, trapped in Victoria's body. Her loyalty and trust in me only make this situation more heartbreaking. The police car suddenly screeches to a halt right outside the station and I'm dragged out of the car and thrown harshly into a cold, dark cell. I bruise my elbow badly on the concrete floor in the process, but the pain is nothing compared to the anguish in my heart. The police officers snickered. "Can't believe a pretty lady like her is actually a killer.. never judge a book by its cover, huh?" "Yeah, and I even heard that she was having an affair with her husband's business partner." "And I also heard that her husband never once came to visit her during her stay in the hospital, and look, he isn't here either. “Ha! I guess he's been trying to get rid of her for years and has finally gotten the opportunity to do so." Their gossip and laughter echo through the cell, making me feel sick to my stomach. I slam my fists angrily against the bars. "You have no right to take me in without evidence! This is unjust!” But they just ignored me, leaving me alone in the cold cell. And then it hits me, this must be the doing of The Winstons. They must have paid the police handsomely to arrest me. I tiredly slumped to the ground, feeling hopeless. I had no one to turn to, no money to hire a lawyer and asking Marilyn to help me with the bail money would be too much of a burden, I knew she was struggling financially as it is. I slowly hugged my legs, my face buried into my knees, I was completely alone. "Mr Blackwood?!" A policeman suddenly said in shock, his voice echoing through the cold, sterile hallway. I immediately lifted my head, my eyes scanning the doorway, and that's when I saw him, Alexander Blackwood, standing tall and imposing, his presence commanding attention. His eyes, cold and detached, swept past me without a flicker of emotion. Why was he here? He strode towards the officers, his movements fluid and purposeful, and he began to speak in a low yet authoritative tone. I couldn't hear what he was saying, but the officers nodded hastily, their faces lighting up with gratitude. One of them took a thick stack of cash from Alexander, and my eyes widened in shock. Was he bailing me out? Why? I thought he hated Victoria? As Alexander was talking with the officers, he turned towards my cell, his gaze finally settling on me, but his eyes didn't soften, nor did his expression change. He looked at me with a bland and disinterested expression, as if I were some worthless artefact, a mere inconvenience. But why was he helping me? What did he want from me? I felt a shiver run down my spine as he approached my cell, his presence suffocating and his gaze unyielding. Once he was some metres away, I couldn't help but notice his dark hair, which was neatly gelled back revealing his piercing black orbs that seemed to bore into my soul. His nose was straight, his jawline chiseled, and his lips thin. He was currently putting on a black suit, the fabric accentuating his strong arms and broad shoulders. I remembered that he was 10 years older than my past self, Aubrey, which made him 15 years older than Victoria, the age gap only added to his intimidating presence. As he reached the cell door, he adjusted his cufflinks, his movements precise and calculated. His gaze finally settled on me, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. He didn't say a word, just gestured for me to follow him and I did. As we walked through the police station, Alexander's silence was oppressive, weighing heavily on me. I tried to speak, to ask him why he was helping me, but he just raised a hand, silencing me and I felt like a child, scolded and insignificant. We arrived at his car that was sitting outside, a black sedan with tinted windows. He gestured for me to get in, I hesitated, unsure of what laid ahead but nonetheless I got in, and he followed. As soon as we were alone in the car, Alexander finally spoke, his voice low and cold. "I bailed you out because of my reputation, I couldn't have my wife rotting in prison." He suddenly tossed a huge stack of money at me, the bills fluttering everywhere. "Take it and leave, never show your face again, the world will think you're dead, and it will benefit us both. I don't need to be married to you, and you don't need to face the consequences of your actions." "I'm not going anywhere." I said with a firm voice. That was far from the plan I had in mind. I couldn't just disappear without getting revenge on The Winstons now that I had the chance. I had to make them pay for all the maltreatment they'd done to me. Alexander raised a brow, surprised by my refusal. "What makes you think I won't just get rid of you and simplify things?” I gazed up at him, a fierce determination burning within me. "You cannot kill me, because you'd also take the life of your unborn child.”Alexander's expression changed from calm to confusion. "Is this some kind of joke to you?" He asked, his voice laced with anger. I shook my head, my heart racing. "I'm serious." But Alexander just laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "You expect me to believe that?” Saying that, he reached for the door handle, ready to throw me out of the car, but I grasped his arm, desperation creeping into my voice. "Wait! Do you really want to loose the heir to your empire?" Alexander's eyes flickered, a hint of uncertainty in their depths. I pressed on, trying to sound more convincing. "We can go see a doctor tomorrow if you wish, and you may confirm if I'm pregnant or not." Alexander's gaze turned cold again. "Even if you were pregnant, how am I sure the baby belongs to me?" I swallowed hard, thinking fast. "We can get yours and the child's DNA tested too." Alexander raised an eyebrow, skeptical, but nodded curtly. He stepped on the accelerator, and soon we arrived at his mansion. The exerior
~AubreyI sat in Conner's office, my heart racing like a wild animal’s as I tried to process his proposal. "So, let me get this straight.” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You'll help me convince Mr Blackwood that I'm pregnant, but in return, I have to get him to partner with your hospital for a charity event?"Conner nodded. “That's right Mrs Blackwood. I believe you're the only one who can convince him, he's your husband after all.”I could only scoff inwardly at his sentence. But just as I was about to respond, the door suddenly burst open and Jarred walked in, his eyes fixated on me. “Mrs. Blackwood.” He said, his voice an intrusion into the tense atmosphere.I felt a jolt of surprise, my heart skipping a beat in slight fear. What was he doing here?Conner's expression on the other hand didn't change, but I sensed a flicker of irritation. "Ah, Mr Jarred? perfect timing, we were just discussing about Mrs Blackwood’s ultrasound."Jarred's eyes narrowed, his gaze lingering o
"Aubrey.. my wife.. you killed her, you fucking killed her!" I hear Kenneth speak and I finally release the breath that I had been unconsciously holding in. So he doesn't know..I see his fake tears flow out easily like a well rehearsed performance and I am instantly repulsed by how good his acting was. If I hadn't discovered his secret, I would have still believed he was the loving, innocent and caring husband he played as.Georgina suddenly swooped in, comforting her son with a gentle touch before her eyes locked onto mine, casting me an angry and disgusted look. "Can you see how much pain he's going through because of you? You're the reason my darling Kenneth lost his beautiful wife!”I scoff, now that I'm dead she finally remembers to give me a compliment. What happened to ragamuffin? wretched girl? Four eyed bitch?“And how in the world did you even get out of jail?!” Georgina asks, now realising. My gaze drifts to Alexander, wondering if he'd reveal himself as my benefactor, a
Reality finally hits me at that moment. I had been so relived with the fact that I was able to fake the pregnancy test that I had totally forgotten about the DNA.“I didn't remember it, I'll go back to the hospital tomorrow.” I speak and Alexander slowly rises from the chair, and only now did I realise how insanely tall this man was. His dark suite accentuated his broad shoulders and toned chest well, his hair slightly dishevelled, rested some inches just above his dark orbs.As he took some steps closer, his height only became even more intimidating and I gulped, but I stood my ground and didn't move an inch back wards, instead I stared straight into his dark eyes.As if understanding that I was trying my best not to feel intimated, a slight smirk crawled to the corner of his perfectly shaped lip. This was the closest to a smile I had seen him done, my past life and now.His smirk was both alluring and unsettling, and it made my palms grow slightly cold in fear. I searched his eyes,
~Aubrey“On second thoughts, never mind, it isn't important.”“Victoria are you sure?” Marilyn asks from the other end and I pinch the space between my brows. What was I thinking wanting to tell her the truth? What did I even want to tell her anyways?Oh, I'm actually your best friend Aubrey in Victoria's body? The fuck?Marilyn is important to me right now, she's going to be very helpful now and in the future, I can't afford to loose her because she thinks I've gone crazy after spending some hours in jail.I sighed. “Yeah I'm sure, it's nothing important.” Marilyn hums from the other end. “If you so. I'll leave you to rest now, call me if you need anything, alright?”“Alright.” I replied and she finally disconnects the call, silence enveloping me once again. I slip the phone back into my pocket and run my fingers though my hair. “Dear universe, I hope I don't die in Alexander's hands tomorrow.”~~Alexander’s povI walk into the study room, closing the door shut behind me. My finger
"Why?” I ask but Alexander does not respond and instead walks towards me, his eyes never leaving the gown. Once he was a few metres away, he finally takes his gaze off my dress, but only repeated what he had said initially.“I want that dress off you.”I'm about to insist on why he wants me to do so, but he turns around and heads into the car, I follow suite and a crease forms between my brows before I turn to face him. “Why do you want me to change into something else? Is there something wrong with the dress?”He ignored me and instead faced Jarred, who was handling the steering wheel. "Take us to a boutique."I didn't utter a word and just gazed out the window, confusion still etched on my face. Why in the world was he so adherent on me changing?Soon we arrived at the butique and we stepped inside, the opulent interior enveloping us. I see everyone's gaze land on us and gasps soon echoed throughout the store.“Wait, isn't that Mr Blackwood?”“Oh my, what's he doing here?”“He looks
The expression on the man’s face immediately transformed from that of confidence to fright. “B-blackwood?” He stammered before falling to his knees. “I had no i-idea you were with her sir, please forgive me.”“Get out before I do something despicable.” Alexander briefly speaks, wiping the dirt on his hand with his silky handkerchief. The three men all nodded hastily before quickly scurrying away like frightened rabbits and it made me wonder, why was everyone so afraid of Alexander? Even in my past life, everyone including the Winston's were terrified of him, I mean looking at him you'd instantly know he's not someone to be messed with, but that alone couldn't be the reason why everyone was so scared, right?I push that thought aside and instead force a small smile at him. “Thank you.”“I did that for the baby, not you.” Alexander responds, his eyes still on the hand he was wiping and I dismissively click my tongue. So rude.Soon enough, as if luck wasn't on our side, rain began to p
The old lady placed a gentle hand on her grandson's shoulder, her expression soothing. "That's all in the past, now let's get back to our dinner."Lionel's face twisted in frustration. “How can you be so calm grandma? He's the one who made you loose your shop!”The old lady smiled faintly. "Even if we bring it up dear, what will be done? Will it change anything? or do you believe we could win a court case against Mr. Blackwood?"Lionel's scowl deepened, but he did not say anything else, his fists just quietly clenched by his sides.~AubreyMy attention soon shifted to little Kiya, who excitedly skipped towards me with her doll. "This is Victoria, but I call her Pink Vickie!"I smiled, taking the doll from her. "Pink Vickie? But what's the 'Pink' for?" Kiya giggled, her eyes sparkling. "It's because her hair is pink!"I mouthed an 'O' and smiled. "I see."Just then, Alexander's deep voice cut through the warmth. "Drop the kid and go to bed, you're already carrying one in your tummy, is
Aubrey's POVI stood frozen, gazing at the ruined dress on the bed, the fabric shredded beyond repair. Layla's concerned voice soon broke the silence."Ma'am, what should we do?"I raised a hand, my eyes still fixed on the dress. "Give me a moment Layla."Layla nodded and quietly exited the room, leaving me alone. For a few moments, I simply stared at the dress and a small laugh escaped my lips. I should have anticipated this.Georgina thought she'd ruined my day, but she underestimated me.I walked towards the drawer and pulled out a white silk dress. The fabric shimmered in the light, its delicate embroidery showcasing simple elegance. The dress was indeed a masterpiece, sleeveless, with a subtle V-neckline and a delicate silver clasp at the back, little tiny pearls adorned the hem, adding a touch of sophistication.I had bought this spare dress, knowing that Georgina would retaliate after the event that happened with Rebecca at the store. Little did they know, I was once step ahea
Aubrey’s POVI sat on the vanity chair, gazing at my untidy hair in the mirror. Layla had informed me earlier that Alexander had left the house, dressed in a dark suit. I knew where he was headed–the burial. I sighed, knowing he'd purposely gone alone.Taking a deep breath, I turned my attention to the hairdresser, who stood patiently behind me. "What can you do with this mess?" I asked, gesturing to my hair that resembled that of an eagle's nest.Madame Dupont's eyes sparkled. "I can create a subtle yet stunning design, Mrs Blackwood. A braided updo with delicate twists, perfect for the occasion, it'll still be pretty yet not so outward."I nodded, satisfied by the idea. "And how long will it take?""Approximately 25-30 minutes ma'm."And indeed, within the mentioned time, Madame Dupont transformed my hair into a masterpiece. I gazed at my reflection, admiring the design."Beautiful.” I said, smiling curtly.Madame Dupont bowed respectfully. "Thank you ma'am."As she exited, Layla en
Aubrey's POVI narrowed my eyes, my cheeks flushing with annoyance. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?" I said, my voice laced with sarcasm.Alexander's expression remained stoic, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes. "Immensely."I feigned a sweet smile, trying to conceal my irritation. "Good because this is just the beginning."I adjusted myself on the picnic mat, arranging my dress around me. Alexander's gaze followed my movements, his eyes lingering on my legs. I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I refused to acknowledge it.Jarred soon handed Alexander a glass of lemonade, which he accepted without breaking eye contact with me.I began to serve the food, serving the sandwiches and fruits, still, Alexander's eyes never left mine, his expression, indifferent. As I bit on my sandwich, a group of noisy children ran past, chasing each other. Alexander's gaze flickered towards them, and for a moment, I saw a glimmer of something else-perhaps longing for one of his. My heart so
Aubrey's POV I stood frozen, my mind a big mess from the sudden kiss. Alexander's eyes locked onto mine, I'm about to speak but his next words render me speechless."You didn't like it?" He asked, his voice low and husky.I opened my mouth to respond, but words failed me, instead, I settled for a weak retort, my hands unintentionally fumbling with the hem of my top. "You're drunk."Alexander furrowed his brow and then slightly tilted his head. "I'm not drunk."The pungent smell of alcohol and cigarettes waft off him, making my stomach turn. "You reek of it." I countered. He shrugged. "I drank, doesn't mean I'm drunk."I bit the inside of my cheek, my palms curling into fists, his nonchalance infuriated me."By the way." I said, changing the subject. "I planned a picnic for us today."Alexander raised an eyebrow. "You want us to go for a picnic in the middle of the night?"I casually shrugged. "I'm not against the idea, but that was not what I meant. I was saying I had planned for it
Author's Note: [Sorry for the delay guys! I was taken off guard by a sudden cold, had to get myself together, enjoy ^^]~~Aubrey's' POVElise's eyes locked onto mine. "I don't have an appetite, ma'am." She replied, her voice a little shaky.I arched a brow, a sly smile appearing by the corner of my lip."What's wrong Elise? don't you trust Layla's cooking?" I leaned in, fluttering my lashes but my smile, which couldn't even be referred to as one, revealed my true expression. If she had tried to hide her emotions when Layla was about to bring the dish, I would have never suspected that she may have placed something in the meal, unfortunately, she was bad at controlling her expressions.Elise's eyes snapped back to mine, her expression guarded. "No. I'll have a taste.” She replied, her voice strained.I smiled sweetly, my eyes never leaving hers. "Good then, take a spoon." I nudged my head towards the spoon in the bowl before relaxing into the chair.Elise's hesitation was palpable, he
Georgina's eyes widened in fake surprise. "Aubrey, you're the one who stole the ring? How could you? And to think a thief is actually related to us."“I knew she'd only cause trouble if we brought her along.” Janet chimed in, her voice full with disdain."Gina, better tell this stealing whore to return my sister's ring!" Danielle added, her tone venomous. I arched a brow, my expression unwavering. A small, mocking smile played on my lips, but it didn't reach my eyes. "Rachael, your ring went missing all of a sudden, and the first thing you suspect is someone stealing it? Isn't that quite odd?" I asked, my voice laced with amusement. "I mean, it could have fallen off in the dressing room for all we know."The room fell silent, and the staffs and customers began to murmur, they seemed to agree with my logical assessment.Rachael's face reddened, her fists clenched. "Are you saying I'm lying?"I smiled sweetly. "Another bold assumption you've made, Rachael."Georgina soon intervened. "
I rolled my eyes as the honking of the car outside grew louder, time to face Georgina and her cohorts. I took a deep breath, pasted on a fake smile, and walked out of the house. Georgina wound down the window, flashing me a saccharine grin. "Good afternoon dear. You look.. interesting." Her gaze swept over my outfit, her eyes lingering on my clothes. I raised an eyebrow, sensing the criticism. "What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" "Oh, nothing nothing." Georgina chimed, waving her hand dismissively. "You just look a bit.. underdressed." Her words, unlike before didn't move a hair on my skin, but once I saw the friends she had mentioned situated in the car seat, I clenched my fists, memories of my past life flooding back. The two sisters, Rachel and Danielle, had tormented me, belittled me, and made me feel worthless. It's unfortunate I won't get to repay both back for their generous deeds as Aubrey. "Hey ladies." I said, my gaze lingering on their faces. "It's nice meeting you."
~Aubrey The Next Morning.. I woke up to an empty bed, Alexander's side of the bed cold. The words he had uttered yesterday night suddenly popped up in my head and my cheeks flush red in anger. That b^stard! How could he have said such a thing with a straight face? I rest my face in my palms, angrier at myself for not doing anything and just facing the opposite direction instead. Finally done drenching myself in my embarrassment, I walk towards my room and take a quick shower. Done, I walk out just to hear Victoria's phone, lying on the dresser, buzz. As I picked it up, I couldn't help but notice that the caller ID’s name had been saved as "Witch" The name making me raise an eyebrow. Who could this be? Nonetheless, I answered and Georgina's voice resounded from the other end of the line. "Victoria?” I immediately burst out laughing, understanding why Victoria had saved the number that way. Georgina arched a brow in displeasure. "Why are you laughing?" I try to stifle my laugh
"As your wife, shouldn't I share the same room with you and even bed?" I asked with a pout. "I'm not happy sleeping without my hubby, so I'm moving in."The dining room instantly fell silent, the air thickening and the warmth from the candles replaced by an icy chill. Alexander's aura turned indescribably suffocating, his eyes narrowed, piercing me with a glare that sent shivers down my spine. He took some steps towards me, his long legs eating up the distance. His towering figure soon loomed over me, but I stood my ground despite my racing heart."Thank the universe you have that child implanted in you.” He spoke slowly, his tone chilling. "Or else I would have ripped your head out from your body."My throat turned dry, fear gripping me. I knew he meant every word but I refused to back down. I summoned a smile, forcing a hint of amusement into my voice."I see.. I thank the heavens I'm pregnant then.” I said, meeting his gaze. "I get to keep my head."Alexander's expression didn't ch
