~Aubrey
“On second thoughts, never mind, it isn't important.” “Victoria are you sure?” Marilyn asks from the other end and I pinch the space between my brows. What was I thinking wanting to tell her the truth? What did I even want to tell her anyways? Oh, I'm actually your best friend Aubrey in Victoria's body? The fuck? Marilyn is important to me right now, she's going to be very helpful now and in the future, I can't afford to loose her because she thinks I've gone crazy after spending some hours in jail. I sighed. “Yeah I'm sure, it's nothing important.” Marilyn hums from the other end. “If you so. I'll leave you to rest now, call me if you need anything, alright?” “Alright.” I replied and she finally disconnects the call, silence enveloping me once again. I slip the phone back into my pocket and run my fingers though my hair. “Dear universe, I hope I don't die in Alexander's hands tomorrow.” ~~ Alexander’s pov I walk into the study room, closing the door shut behind me. My fingers rub the crease between my brows in frustration before I sit down on the swivel chair. “Jarred.” I call out and Jarred answers from the other end of the phone. “Yes Mr Blackwood?” “What hospital was Victoria's pregnancy test done in?” “The Langley's Hospital sir.” “The owner is a renowned doctor?” “I haven't done any official researches but I believe so, he's quite popular in his field.” “Book an appointment with him tomorrow.” “Alright.” Jarred responds and I cut the call, tossing the phone to a corner. The night air blew in through the window, ruffling up some papers and tossing some to the ground, but I cared less. My eyes zone into a distance, my left hand on my jaw. “Oh Victoria, you better not be lying, because I wouldn't even be able to stop myself from doing something despicable to you.” The Next Morning. ~Aubrey I am happily laying down on the bed, lost in an island of dreams when suddenly an alarm makes me jolt. I sluggishly open my eyes and see that it had come from Victoria's phone. Was she that of an early riser? “Get washed, I don't have all day.” I jolt again but this time in fear upon hearing the voice from the door and I turn to see Alexander in a neatly ironed suite, leaning against the frame. “You pervert! Have you been watching me all along?!” Alexander: “...” I had no idea when the words stumbled out ofmy mouth but before I'm able to say anything else, I see Alexander stride towards me before gripping me by my neck. “Do I look like I pervert to you?” His voice was low and filled with strained anger. But I wasn't going to let him intimidate me. I immediately bite down on his palm as hard as I could but I'm surprised to see that he didn't flinch nor did his expression change, but after a while, he lets go of my neck and wipes away my saliva on his hand on my head. “You–!” “Get ready.” He said and walked out of the room and I hiss disdainfully in return before finally slipping out of the quilt. Walking into the bathroom, the first thing I am met with is my reflection and my eyes immediately buldge out once my gaze dropped to my chest. One of my breast was currently plunged out of my night top! Goodness, it must be that horrid sleeping position I have! Even in my past, why couldn't I ever have a goodnight sleep without this happening? My cheeks suddenly flushed red in embarrassment knowing that Alexander must had seen it when he had grabbed my neck. But he didn't react nor did his gaze ever falter down. Victoria was his wife anyways, was he already used to seeing her naked? Or was the quilt covering it up? I had no idea and it made my cheeks light up bright red in embarrassment again, but I didn't dwell too much on it and instead freshened up. Walking out the bathroom with a towel draped around my body, I stride towards the wardrobe just to be met with yellow floral gowns similar to that I had worn yesterday. I crease my brows. Did Alexander forbid Victoria from wearing another shade of clothes or did she just have bad taste? It'll most likely be the latter, Alexander does not appear to be someone who'd be interested with what and what you do not wear. “I'll have to change her wardrobe..” I speak to myself before slipping into one of the gowns, packing my hair into a high messy bun, and finished up my look with a little pink gloss. I gazed in the mirror. Victoria's face was very pretty, skin as white as milk and as clear as glass. My finger trailed across the edges of her face. Mine was as pretty as this, but the Winstons forbade me from either applying makeup or taking proper care of myself. “As the daughter-in-law of the family, your main focus should be the family not yourself!” They'd always say and naive me would always do as told with just one soothing sentence from Kenneth. “They're only training you to be a good daughter-in-law, my love.” I sigh and shake my head. That was all in the past now. I’ll show them all who Aubrey was, but before that could happen, I'd have to become a socialite, make myself known amongst well known and wealthy people in the country, and the person who'll help me achieve that is Alexander. “Alexander!” Remembering him, I hastily rush out of the bedroom and quickly descended the staircase but there was no trace of him in the living room. I search around but there was still no trace of him anyway. “Mrs Blackwood?” I hear Jarred call from behind and I immediately turn to face him. “Where's Mr Blackwood?” “Mr Blackwood is waiting for you outside.” I nod and quickly rush out, and finally spot Alexander leaning by the car. “Mr Blackwood.” I call out and he turns to face. “I’m ready no–” “Why are you wearing this?” His voice abruptly cuts into my sentence and I crease my brows. Does he have a problem with the dress? Yes, it's a V-neck gown, but it's not that revealing.. But before I'm able to respond, Alexander's deep yet menacing voice makes the hairs on my neck stand. “I asked a question, why are you in this dress?!”"Why?” I ask but Alexander does not respond and instead walks towards me, his eyes never leaving the gown. Once he was a few metres away, he finally takes his gaze off my dress, but only repeated what he had said initially.“I want that dress off you.”I'm about to insist on why he wants me to do so, but he turns around and heads into the car, I follow suite and a crease forms between my brows before I turn to face him. “Why do you want me to change into something else? Is there something wrong with the dress?”He ignored me and instead faced Jarred, who was handling the steering wheel. "Take us to a boutique."I didn't utter a word and just gazed out the window, confusion still etched on my face. Why in the world was he so adherent on me changing?Soon we arrived at the butique and we stepped inside, the opulent interior enveloping us. I see everyone's gaze land on us and gasps soon echoed throughout the store.“Wait, isn't that Mr Blackwood?”“Oh my, what's he doing here?”“He looks
The expression on the man’s face immediately transformed from that of confidence to fright. “B-blackwood?” He stammered before falling to his knees. “I had no i-idea you were with her sir, please forgive me.”“Get out before I do something despicable.” Alexander briefly speaks, wiping the dirt on his hand with his silky handkerchief. The three men all nodded hastily before quickly scurrying away like frightened rabbits and it made me wonder, why was everyone so afraid of Alexander? Even in my past life, everyone including the Winston's were terrified of him, I mean looking at him you'd instantly know he's not someone to be messed with, but that alone couldn't be the reason why everyone was so scared, right?I push that thought aside and instead force a small smile at him. “Thank you.”“I did that for the baby, not you.” Alexander responds, his eyes still on the hand he was wiping and I dismissively click my tongue. So rude.Soon enough, as if luck wasn't on our side, rain began to p
The old lady placed a gentle hand on her grandson's shoulder, her expression soothing. "That's all in the past, now let's get back to our dinner."Lionel's face twisted in frustration. “How can you be so calm grandma? He's the one who made you loose your shop!”The old lady smiled faintly. "Even if we bring it up dear, what will be done? Will it change anything? or do you believe we could win a court case against Mr. Blackwood?"Lionel's scowl deepened, but he did not say anything else, his fists just quietly clenched by his sides.~AubreyMy attention soon shifted to little Kiya, who excitedly skipped towards me with her doll. "This is Victoria, but I call her Pink Vickie!"I smiled, taking the doll from her. "Pink Vickie? But what's the 'Pink' for?" Kiya giggled, her eyes sparkling. "It's because her hair is pink!"I mouthed an 'O' and smiled. "I see."Just then, Alexander's deep voice cut through the warmth. "Drop the kid and go to bed, you're already carrying one in your tummy, is

All I await now is a positive response about my charity event."I nod curtly, trying to process everything. For Alexander to actually plant a spy.. does it mean he still does not believe my lie?"Of course." The car sped down the highway, its tires screeching in protest as it was now out of control. I was trapped, unable to do anything as the world around me became a blur. Tears streamed down my face as I frantically tried to search for an escape but it was no use. My phone suddenly rang and Kenneth's name flashed on the screen. I hesitated for a bit, my heart racing, before answering. "Kenneth.. Kenneth.. please help us. The brakes.. they're not working.” "Aubrey, my love.” His voice came out gentle yet cold, sending shivers down my spine. “I'm afraid I had to take drastic measures.” "What.. what do you mean?" I stammered, my mind racing with different thoughts. I knew what he was capable of, but he wouldn't go this far, right? ..I did not want to believe that my own husband.. no. But his next words immediately shattered me. "I cut the brakes Aubrey, I had to ensure our little problem went away. You understand, don't you?" He paused, his tone dripping with malice. "You were going to g
~Aubrey The hospital’s room door burst open and a flurry of family members entered, their faces etched with anger and disgust. "You're awake.” My mother in-law, Georgina Winston spat as if it was a crime. "Finally, we can get some answers." I tried to speak, but my voice was still weak. "You killed her, didn't you?" Richard Winston, my husband’s cousin questioned, his voice venomous. "You were always so jealous of Aubrey, and now that she's gone you're satisfied aren't you?!” Janet Winston, my husband's aunt added. I snickered inwardly, a bitter taste in my mouth. Their accusations cut deep, but I knew the truth, this was all a pretence, they didn't love nor care about Aubrey, my past self. They had tolerated her, abused her and now that they must have figured Kenneth was behind the accident, they needed a scapegoat to blame everything on, and who else made the perfect target asides Victoria, the timid wife of Alexander Blackwood who also happened to be the one driving the car
~Aubrey As I'm dragged away in the police car, I feel a wave of despair wash over me. I'm trapped in a living nightmare, with no escape and not only have I been reborn into the life of a mistreated wife, but now I'm being charged with murder. The injustice of it all feels suffocating. As I think about Marilyn's distraught face, tears start to pour down my cheeks. She believes in my innocence and is trying to save me from this nightmare, but she has no idea that I'm actually Aubrey, trapped in Victoria's body. Her loyalty and trust in me only make this situation more heartbreaking. The police car suddenly screeches to a halt right outside the station and I'm dragged out of the car and thrown harshly into a cold, dark cell. I bruise my elbow badly on the concrete floor in the process, but the pain is nothing compared to the anguish in my heart. The police officers snickered. "Can't believe a pretty lady like her is actually a killer.. never judge a book by its cover, huh?" "Yeah, a
