GLENDA'S POV

"Eh, Glenda?" Nana's voice jolted me out of my head.

I raised my head to her and questions filled my eyes. "What did you say, Nana?"

"I asked if you think anyone would be able to resist my beauty." Nana repeated and my mind traveled back to the conversation we were having just before I zoned out.

"Oh no, Nana. I don't think anyone can resist your charm." I said with a forced smile.

"See! At least someone knows it!" Nana feigned anger at Maurice and I smiled at her action.

Nana was a wonderful woman, always jolly. I wished I had her kind of free-spiritedness. Despite her health, she still joked about trivial things.

Dinner was quiet thereafter. I still couldn't eat much. After Maurice's confrontation and Lucy's insults hurled at me, I forced myself to consume some of the meal. The food tasted great but I really didn't have the appetite to eat. My heart was still heavy from my loss. And I was carrying the weight all alone.
