MAURICE'S POV

"What was that about?" Lucy chimed once Nana and Glenda were out of ear shot.

I rolled my eyes, knowing very well what Nana tried to do. Apparently, her plan was successful. Lucy could never understand when someone was consciously trying to rile her. She always fell bait to Nana's scheme.

"It's nothing. Nana was just being Nana." I said, getting up from my seat.

Lucy jerked up from her seat and was at my side immediately. "No, it's not nothing. There's something and you're not telling me." She insisted.

I was in no mood to listen to her nag. "I thought you promised this night would be special." I reminded her and turned to face her. I moved in closer to her and was about to pull her to me, closing the distance between us. But she shifted away from me.

"Well guess what! You just ruined it!" She snapped and sauntered away, swaying her hips invitingly.

I knew she wanted me to go after her. Beg her even. Lucy can be a handful. I gave it a thought and decided against going a

GLENDA'S POVI couldn't take my gaze away from the rising sun. The big orange hue as it seemed to sit on top of the water in the distance, took my breath away and held my attention. The cool breeze caused gentle ripples over the water as the rays from the sun seemed to color the water. It was such a beautiful sight. The view I had just witnessed was beautifully ingrained in my memory. Slowly, I turned my head to look at Maurice. A mix of conflicting emotions filled my mind."Why did you bring me here?"He shrugged his shoulders as he seemed to pounder on his reply. "Don't you like it?" His gaze held a tinge of doubt. I hoped he didn't regret bringing me here."No, no, no. I love it!." I bowed my head shyly. "I just wonder why you thought of this."He still doesn't respond to my question. His gaze turned brooding as they rested over the waters before he spoke."Your mother used to love it here. She would always stop here before leaving." He smoothly changed the topic. My eyes softened

MAURICE'S POV"Where were you!" Lucy snapped as soon as she set her eyes on me. Her daring angry gaze rested on me. She had been probably expecting me to go to her last night.I had totally forgotten about her. Lucy's disturbing shriek contrasted sharply with the quietness I had shared with Glenda down at the lake. Lucy's voice was giving me a headache and I found myself missing Glenda. But then again, I could never let Lucy find out I had spent an entire night out with Glenda. I was grateful Glenda had gone straight into the kitchen when we entered the house with the intention of helping Nora make breakfast. She didn't seem one bit tired or sleep-deprived. Rather she looked more active than usual and I found myself happy that I did what I did.Lucy would have given me a harder time if she had seen Glenda and I entering the house together at that hour."I was in my room." I responded as I began taking the flight of stairs."Maurice, don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you!" Lu

GLENDA'S POVI was surprised when I heard Maurice say he intended to take me on the trip. That would mean I was going to be meeting his family as his wife! The idea coursed excitement and anxiety through me. I wondered what it would be like to see where Maurice grew up and what made him into the man that he is.I stood by the kitchen counter mulling over these thoughts. Absent-mindedly, I stared fixated at nothing as I seemed to be looking out the window. I was so lost in my head, I didn't hear when someone joined me in the room."Don't think because you get to travel with him just to attend his brother's wedding makes you HIS WIFE! It doesn't change anything!" Lucy's sneering voice behind me interrupted my muddled thoughts. She didn't stop there as she continued her lashing at me."Don't go feeling all high and mighty now, he will never see you as his wife!" I sighed tiredly. I was in a good mood and I didn't want to spoil it. But if Lucy was Benton disturbing my peace, then a litt

MAURICE'S POVI met with Lucy's glare as I descended. Her eyes stared daggers at me. I ignored her completely and continued my journey to my study."Are you going to just keep ignoring me?" Lucy questioned as soon as I reached her down the stairs. Although I could see that she was visibly angry, her tone was a lot calmer than before. I smiled to myself seeing that she understood the message from earlier."What do you mean?" I returned and walked past her without waiting for her to respond. She quickly fell into steps with me and she continued her probing."You no longer have time for me. You snap at me over every little thing…""Lucy, please, I don't have time for bickering." I couldn't hide the irritation in my voice as I cut her from finishing her words."See? You're doing it again. You're getting angry over nothing." She said in exasperation and stopped behind me. "Look… Lucy" I ran a hand hard over my face and sighed. I was out of words to say to her. She was stressing me out an

GLENDA'S POVI didn't know what got into me that made me question Maurice so much. Thankfully he didn't get crossed with me. This was all Nana's fault for setting me up with Maurice.I strode down the hall, darting my eyes back and forth. I wanted to avoid Nana. I knew she would be asking me what Maurice and I agreed on and I haven't thought of what to say to her.Nana would not buy the 'it's a surprise' excuse. That was only a means to escape Maurice's principal study and those piercing eyes of his."Why are you sneaking about like a thief?"I froze and slowly turned around to come face to face with Lucy. Because I had been so caught up in my mission to avoid Nana, I had not recognized her voice.I straightened and collected myself as I looked at Lucy end long."Oh!" She slapped a hand on her face. "I forgot, you are a thief!"I just rolled my eyes at her. She was becoming an insistent nuisance in my life."You are so jealous you can't stand seeing me with Maurice, aren't you?. Don't

MAURICE'S POV"So you are not going to introduce me to your wife?" Sam spared me a quick glance before turning his eyes back to the road.He was driving us to the house. I was seated adjacent to him while both women occupied the back seat.I expected this. knew it would only be a matter of time before Sam would begin asking me questions. All the while Sam kept stealing glances at Glenda through the rearview mirror before he finally voiced his question."Sam, this is Glenda, Maurice's wife. She's an amazing young lady, I tell you." Nana answered him. From the side mirror, I could see the shy smile that spread across Glenda's lips as she bowed her head."It's nice to meet you, Sam." Glenda said."It's nice to finally meet you… You have a very beautiful wife, Maurice." He said to me, giving me a knowing smile.I shut my eyes and shook my head. I knew how Sam could be and I didn't want to have the conversation about Glenda in public, especially not after I told him about the night I spent

GLENDA'S POVMaurice and Sam moved to the boot of the car to offload the bags. Nana took the liberty to introduce me to the older woman Maurice had been so comfortable hugging.Martha, like Nana, immediately took a liking to me. After exchanging greetings, somehow, the conversation metamorphosed into Martha and Nana talking about how they plan to feed me fat during my stay here because Martha thought I looked skinny.Nana insisted that like Nora, Martha was a great cook and that I'll love her meal. I could only smile and nod in agreement as both women chattered along, making me the topic of their discussion."Come on in. The others are inside." Sam said as he dragged the last of the bags into the house just after Maurice had walked past us carrying some bags too.I took one look around before following them into the house. It was a beautiful serene place with tall pine trees around. I made mental plans to take a walk through later. As we stepped into the house, a fair slender tall lad

MAURICE'S POVI walked into my room and Glenda's bags laid by the entrance, untouched and there was no sight of her.I assumed Jane must have taken her somewhere as she was not here. I moved the bags to the corner, simultaneously tugging my shirt from the band of my pants.I took off my shirt and exhaustion suddenly took over me. I settled on the love seat and closed my eyes. For a moment, I drifted off to sleep when the soft creak of a door opening had me flipping my eyes wide open.I scanned the room sleepily, finding nothing until my eyes rested on Glenda.Dripping wet hair that stuck to the sides of her face, long eyelashes that fanned over her eyes, her soft full lips void of lipstick, yet beautiful in its rich nudity. Her soft slender neck and the onset of her molds hidden behind the towel, showing just enough of her cleavage. She was a beautiful messy sight to wake up to.I continued my journey of letting my eyes explore every inch of her body. The swell of her breast down to

GLENDA'S POV I didn't want to accept how foolish I had been. How gullible I was. How blindingly trusting I was. “Elsa, please tell me this is all not true. Tell me this is all a prank. Say it. Laugh all this off… Say you're joking!” I yelled at her. I shook my head as though doing that would dispel everything that I had heard. “You are a liar! I don't believe you!” I broke into a sob. “I trusted you, Elsa. I loved you! I trusted you!... You were my sister! That's how much I cherished you.” I spilled through my teary, pain-filled voice. “And I hate you! I hate you Glenda! I hate you!” She countered, panting with dark rage. The room was filled with the heat of the hate emanating from her. The stench of her loath towards me was palpable in the ambience of the room. It felt so surreal. Like acting out a scene with the evil villain. Only, this was far from a dream or a movie. It was my sick reality. I could never have thought Elsa, whom I considered akin to my sister, harbored su

MAURICE POV It was a long drive. It had been two hours ago since Lucy agreed to take me to the place she talked about, yet we still hadn't reached. We kept taking neverending turns and corners. “Are we there yet?” I asked like an impatient child eager to reach the park sooner. “No. It's right up that corner.” Lucy replied. “How many more corners are we going to take?” Exasperation embellished my tone. “How did you even come to know about this place?” I asked out of my impatience and eagerness to quickly reach Glenda. The long hours of driving was beginning to make me rethink my decision. I couldn't help but begin to consider that this may be a ploy to distract me. “Um, he brought me here one time when we needed to talk privately. This is his hideout.” she spoke shyly. From the sound of her voice and the expression on her face, I understood that this was where they came to do all their plotting. Could Brian and Lucy still be working together? Could this also be one of

GLENDA'S POV “Don't you want to hear my story?” She asked, pouting her lips, feigning childish annoyance. I was finding it difficult to understand everything going on. I had never seen this side of Elsa. She looked like some deranged psychopath. “Elsa. What…” I could barely formulate my thoughts into words before a forceful, painful sting shot through me. The electric sensation began from the cheek of my face, spreading pain, surprise and fear through my body. I stared at Elsa in utter disbelief. Did she… Did she just slap me? “You don't get to ask the questions.” She commanded in an icy tone. “Now, back to the story.” The iciness in her voice disappeared almost immediately as it had appeared. She was acting like a person with multiple personalities. I stared at her speechlessly, still reeling from the pain of the slap she had given me. She cleared her throat and began. “There was a beautiful woman who fell in love with a man. But sadly, the man did not return the woman’s love

MAURICE'S POV I walked back into the house taking quick long angry strides heading back to my study. My face contoured into a growl as I muttered angrily to myself.“Did they find her?” A voice asked.I stopped and turned. I hadn't noticed the presence of anyone seated in the living room. Nora materialized before me. “Has she been found?” She asked again. Worry and anticipation embellished her expression. The eagerness in her gaze only added to my fury. It was a stupid lead. A total waste of my time. Utterly pointless! There was no trace of Glenda where they had thought they had a lead. I wondered what their team was doing as regards to this case. Absolutely nothing! And my infuriation was growing with each passing time.I averted her gaze. I was too pissed to break the bad news to her. I scanned the area of the living room and then set my gaze on Lucy.“Why are you still here?” I interrogated her icily. She seemed to cower under my demeaning stare.“I was concerned.” Her voice was

GLENDA'S POV She came closer and sat beside me, darting her head behind her constantly as though checking if she was being followed. “I knew I'd find you here.” She whispered. Her alert gaze roved around the room. Oh thank Goodness! Finally someone was here to help me. “Elsa… Elsa.” I called out weakly, a tinge of excitement and hope adorned my gruff voice. “Elsa. Brian. Please get me out of here.” I mumbled. “I know.” She whispered in response and placed her right index finger over her lips. “Keep it down.” She darted behind her again. I immediately understood. We needed to stay quiet so we didn't alert my captor. I nodded vigorously to the best of meager strength. “Don't worry, I'll get you out of here.” She reassured me and tried to help me sit up. “You're weak.” She commented. She struggled to lift my limp body. It didn't help that I couldn't assist her by at least raising myself. Whatever Brian had been feeding me was still working actively inside me. “He has been feedi

MAURICE'S POVI took the next available flight back to London. All the while keeping constant communication with Nora regarding Glenda's return.I could feel it in my guts that Glenda was in trouble. It was confirmed when I returned late that night and Glenda was still nowhere to be found. There was no trace of her except for the blood that stained the vanity table and the telltale of someone being dragged on the floor.Incompetent staffs! How could someone enter the house without being noticed? Were they all asleep?I wasted no time informing the police. Three days since the investigation to determine Glenda's whereabouts began and three days of no result. No one knew how she left the house. No one had seen her and no one knew who had abducted her. GLENDA'S POV A loud thumping sound woke me from the darkness I was floating in. It seemed to grow louder, increasing in its disturbing volume. I felt dizzy, hazy, like a clouded mist. I tried to move but my limbs felt too heavy to comply. Slowly, I fluttered my eyelids open. I was welcomed by a dim yellow light shining brightly beside me. I shut back my eyes. My head was aching badly. I tried to move again, propel myself and access my environment, but the aching weight in my head kept pulling me down. I shut my eyes and cursed at my failed attempt. I opened my eyes again and squinted past the yellow light to look around my environment. My eyes roved over the strange and unfamiliar setting. This was not my room. Where was I? How did I get here? The throbbing pain in my head increased as I tried to remember. Such a simple task brought me such intense pain. After a minute of trying, the memories came flooding into my mind. The bathroom. MAURICE'S POV“What do you mean by you can't find Glenda? Isn't she at home?” My cold voice shot at Nora.I had just checked into my hotel room and was calling to inform Glenda. Her phone had been ringing non-stop with no response. I did try calling her earlier too when my flight landed but there was no response either. I assumed she must have been napping or up to something that kept her busy.Regardless, I expected her to be with her phone and to return my call at the earliest. I took some time to get myself settled and tried calling her again.Feeling frustrated after several attempts of being unable to reach Glenda, I called the house line only for Nora to tell me that Glenda wasn't home.“I just came from her room. The food was getting cold, so I went upstairs to inquire from her if she had changed her mind regarding dinner. But she wasn't there.” Nora explained over the phone.I found her
