Maliyah
“Maliyah, are you okay,” asks mom the minute we arrive.
“I’ll be fine, but we need to have a family meeting immediately, Dimitri included. Without the littles of course.”
“Okay, I’ll call everyone. Is everything okay?”
“No mom, it’s not.”
Mom takes me seriously and begins mind linking family to come to the house as soon as possible. I pace the living room anxiously as family arrives one by one. They can all tell I am scared but Aspen tells them to give me space since I am already freaking out.
The last to arrive are dad and uncle Mark who fill everyone in on what happened at my apartment. Even showing mom the note left on my pillow.
“Alright Maliyah, everyone is here. Are you okay to talk,” asks Aspen as he takes my hand to stop me from pacing.
I nod my head at him an
Maliyah“Maliyah!”“Aspen,” I reply weakly.“You’re okay. I’ve got you. Derek!”I cough up the dirt I inhaled when the roof collapsed on me and my sister. I can feel Aspen using his healing abilities on me and feel my strength returning to me. I look to my left and see Malayah unconscious.“Malayah!”I rush to her side and shake her, hoping to see her eyes flutter open. She is out cold but thankfully doesn’t appear to be injured badly.“Where is Enzo,” asks my father.“I think I killed him. He attacked us as we reached the exit and I think I killed him. The ceiling collapsed and I lost sight of him.”“Okay, we need to get you two out of here.”Dad grabs Malayah and head
MaliyahGrandma leaves me as I choose to stay outside and enjoy nature a bit longer. I can feel my assigned guards are nearby and though this still annoys me I stopped ditching them. The last thing I need is for another incident to happen with no help.‘Let’s go for a run in our wolf form,’ says Terra itching to stretch her legs.I giggle and shift my right hand into a claw to cut the cast off. I flex my hand and can feel it’s back to normal.‘I’m going for a run,’ I mind link my guards as I shift, shaking out my fur.As I get closer to the edge of the forest I feel a presence that shouldn’t be there. Terra perks her ears up and looks to our left. We don’t see anything there, but I can feel it.
MaliyahAspen has been so worried about this wolf I saw, he got my parents to agree for me to spend some time in the elf realm. It’s safe there and there should be no way an outsider can teleport there without alerting everyone of their presence. They have a good system set up.Today I am heading to the school to grab all my books and packets of school work my teachers put together so I can finish out the year at home. I write my essays and complete my work and my guards will ensure it gets back to my teachers. Any tests I take will be under the watch of Aspen, though he knows I won’t cheat.“You ready Maliyah,” asks Aspen.“Yeah I’m ready.”I still feel bad that I haven’t spoken to him about the pull I had to the wolf that was at the cave or towards Luca. I want to tell him, I just don’t know how.
MaliyahAspen helps me gather my things and we teleport back to the pack house. I put my books away and make a to do list, anything to keep busy. My hands are shaking and there is an ache in my chest. I am getting use to killing and that bothers me.“Maliyah, will you talk to me please.”I look up at Aspen while I try to keep my tears at bay.“I killed them Aspen.”“You did what you did to protect the pack. You saved everyone, even if I don’t like it when you use that ability.”“Aspen, I killed them and liked it. I enjoyed boiling their blood, hearing them scream in agony. I enjoyed watching them die and that scares me. I’m bothered at all that I killed them and that is what worries me.”“You’ve been through so much Maliyah. More than any child should have to go through. It’s not uncommon for one to become desensitized to violence after what you’ve see
MaliyahBefore I leave for the elf realm, father wants me to take my midterms before spring break. I have been studying all week and packing. I don’t know how long I will be with Aspen so I probably pack more than necessary.Right now, uncle Mark has dragged me outside for a break from the books and has me training against him. My uncle claims he wants to be sure I don’t get rusty though really I think he just wants another shot at me. Aspen has trained me well in elf combat so between that, my powers and everything uncle Mark has taught me, I am more than capable of defending myself. Before I leave, there will be a ceremony to swear in the new warriors that have passed uncle Mark’s tests. Luca and Chris are among those that are going to officially be warriors. As daughter of the Alpha it is expected I be present if possible.
AspenMaliyah stops talking mid-sentence and her eyes begin to glow silver. It’s been awhile since a vision forced itself onto Maliyah and it has us all on edge. Everyone, besides her parents and I, have left the office. We’ve been waiting for what seems like forever for Maliyah to come out of this vision. Her eyes finally return to normal and I catch her before falls to the ground. I lightly tap her cheek as her eyes flutter open.“Maliyah are you okay?”She takes a moment as she slowly recognizes where she is before answering.“No I am not,” she says as fresh tears form in her eyes.I can sense fear, anger and sadness all rolled into one from her.“Maliyah what did you see?”“I know who is after me,” she says as her tears fall.
Maliyah I love how Aspen knows how to cheer me up. He knows me better than anyone else. We are walking hand in hand passed the training field. The warriors are training hard as they are preparing to be ranked. I see a young warrior, Ray I think is his name, getting the wind knocked out of him by Chris. I feel bad they paired him with Chris, Chris is one of the best and we all already knew he would be a high ranking warrior. I stop watching the fight and grimace as I hear bones crunching as blood begins to pour from Ray’s nose. Yet, he doesn’t give up and gets back up, preparing his next attack. I can tell even Chris wishes the young wolf would just stay down. “Come on Ray, you can do it,” I yell from the sidelines. “What are you doing,” asks Aspen. “I think he could use some encourage
Maliyah“Maliyah are you okay,” asks dad as Aspen places me on the couch in my room.Dr. Smith immediately hooks up an IV to me though the gash as already closed. She still goes through her checklist to ensure everything else is fine and takes some of my blood.“I’ll come check your blood again in an hour. Hopefully there will be no wolfsbane in your system by then.”We all thank Dr. Smith as she leaves with a vial of my blood.“I’m fine, really. It’s just a scratch.”“I’m gonna kill him,” growls dad.“Come on dad, that’s unnecessary. It’s not like he could’ve really hurt me.”“Well he is no longer welcome in this pack. I cannot just let this go, he attacked another pack member and could’ve killed you. Thankfully, you are half dragon so the wolfsbane doe

Maliyah“Push my queen,” encourages the doctor, making me want to strangle him. It’s been five years since I married Aspen and became queen of the elves. There were many bumps along the way but in the end the crown has been passed down to Aspen. Aspen wanted kids right away but I convinced him to wait while we get things settled with the changes we wanted to make. I know it was a big change to having an outsider become queen of the elves. It has never happened before and there were a few not on board with the idea at first, but in the end I won them over.Being queen of the elves is definitely a lot of work, but I don’t think I would have it any other way. I love the people and I love implementing my ideas to improve things around here. Being that our species have now been intertwined some of the dragons requested to move back to the elf realm. Of course Aspen immediately appr
AspenMy heart is beating so loudly that my ears are ringing. Everyone is turned to look towards the end of the aisle as Accalia and Ada walk down together, tossing rose petals on the ground. They are wearing beautiful floor length dresses, I believe Maliyah called them maxi dresses. Around the waist are decorative jewels that shimmer in the sunlight just like Maliyah’s hair. After the girls reach me, Thierry and Aiden walk down the aisle as the ring bearers. I can tell Thierry is not happy in his tuxedo with the bow tie as he pulls at several times. By the look I can see on Davina’s face, she is mind linking him to stop pulling at his bow tie. We opted to have no groomsman or bridesmaids so once the boys reached me, the wedding march begins.Everyone stands and Maliyah appears at the end of the aisle with her arm laced in her father’
MaliyahOnce everyone had heard I was engaged mom had kept me busy. There was never ending decisions regarding what to serve at the reception, what kinds of flowers are to be arranged on the tables, what the bridesmaid dresses will look like and the flower girl dresses. It was a never ending list. When I thought I had everything in order mom comes at me with a new question. I never knew that picking out the color of the napkins would be so important. We decide to have the wedding here in my pack and then have the crowning ceremony in the elf realm. Everyone has been invited and when I say everybody, I mean everybody. All the other shifter packs will be there and an invitation to the crowning ceremony has been extended as well. I really wanted something small, but marrying into the royal family won’t allow for such a luxury.Today I am up earlier
MaliyahWhen I awaken, I find that it is dusk and the fireflies have begun to dance among the flowers. I look up and see Aspen staring me with nothing but pure love in his eyes. He sits us up and brushes a piece of hair out of my face. Just when I think he is going to kiss me he pulls away, leaving me a bit confused.“Did I do something wrong?”“You have done absolutely nothing wrong Maliyah.”“Then what’s wrong?”I can hear his heartbeat pick up as he paces back and forth in the grass while I sit patiently, waiting for him to come over his nerves. He suddenly stops and kneels down next to me, taking my hands in his.“Maliyah, I love you more than words can describe. I have fallen in love with a beautiful, talented, patient woman and I am honored you have found me deserving of your love back. We have been through many hurdles and we have overcome each and every one of them togethe
MaliyahThe minute Dr. Smith alerted my family I was awake they immediately teleported to the hospital. I knew the moment they were in the hospital as I could hear Accalia’s voice from down the hall.“Maliyah!”Accalia bursts through the door with tears in her eyes and jumps into the bed with me, crushing me with all the strength she can muster.“You took forever to wake up,” she says through tears.“I know, I’m sorry to worry you. I’m okay, I promise.”I look up and find Aiden and Thierry unsure of what to do. I wave them over to join us and they too begin crushing me further in a group hug. I wince a bit but it’s a good pain.“Easy their kids,” says dad as he kisses the top of head.He moves out of the way and mom hugs me just as tight as my siblings.
Aspen“Still nothing,” asks Davina as she drops in for her daily visit.Every time I see her she looks more and more tired. I know she is not sleeping well the more days that pass and Maliyah still doesn’t wake. My father worries as well. He has urged me a few times to return home but I refuse to leave this realm until she wakens.“I’m sorry Davina. She hasn’t even twitched a finger.”Davina sighs and moves to the vase next to Maliyah’s bed, placing her hands on the flowers as her eyes glow their beautiful green. The color returns to the flowers as they bloom again. I rise from my seat, allowing Davina time alone with her daughter. As I am about to leave a nurse walks in with a bowl of warm water and a rag.“I’ll take care of,” says Davina and the nurse smiles and hands her the bowl.
MaliyahI’ve been siting here in the dark, in the fetal position, for who knows how long. I failed. I didn’t trust my true mate, I got Accalia killed and I am sure I died. I let Luca trick me even though I knew deep down not to trust him. That tiny bit of doubt I had I ignored and I can’t fix it. Just as I have given up on everything I feel something nuzzle my back.‘Don’t give up child,’ I hear through the mind link.I turn and find a silver dragon staring down at me. I know instantly it’s Ryuu.‘Am I dead?’‘Not unless you choose to be,’ he replies as he turns to walk away.I get up and follow him as a white light appears in front of us. As we get close the white light surrounds me and I find myself in the Serene Meadow. Ryuu stops and lays down the river where I f
MaliyahI let the vines go slack as it’s beginning to be too difficult to use my powers as hunters begin to attack. I am tired and Terra has used all our energy into healing my hand. Terra urges me to shift into our dragon form and I oblige, thankful that I am not too big for the room. Instantly my missing limb reappears. I must’ve been able to heal faster since I don’t have a seal on me like mom did. “Kill the dragon,” I hear from the doorway and look to find the leader, Charlie standing behind his men like a coward.I position myself in front of Accalia and shift into my wolf so I can more easily move around. I notice Accalia as the dagger in her hands.‘Accalia, smash the jewels,’ I urged her through the mind link as I sink my teeth into a hunter.‘I&he
