Raul hit the ground with a thud, and I swallowed the lump in my throat as I moved towards the battle. There was an unquestionable desire to kill someone who had hurt my brother, but Nikolai was faster, snapping his head out of his body. The bastard lay dismembered.

I moved over to Raul, who was now in his human form and was clutching his side in pain. "Are you ok?" I managed as I shifted back. His eyes drooped close, and I could tell that he was in pain for some reason, and that hurt me a whole lot more than I could put into words.

My eyes slowly accessed the injury, and I realised that it was a silver dagger that had done the fatal wound. Goddess, this was too much! How could things just shift like this? It was too painful to be real, and I hated that my brother was at the receiving end of it.
