“Jasmine!” I heard someone call, “The club coach says you can come to her office now.”

I nodded and took a deep breath.

I had not been myself since I saw Ashley speaking to the coach. I replayed the words of the coach in my head when she joined us during training.

She said, “Jasmine, I think you need to pay more attention to your job description as the club president. We cannot have the club filled with people who lack enthusiasm, while some exceptional talents are wasting away in this same school.”

I felt attacked. Why was it my fault that there were hidden talents who refused to speak up? If some people were good enough to join the club, why wouldn't they just walk up to me and state their interest?
