First it was the sound of chaos. Noise. A chaos which Lyra was able to make out to be dancing, singing and sounds of drums from a distance.
“What's going on?” Lyra asked with worry filled eyes.
“Miss Lyra,” her chauffeur, the man driving her said. “The pack members are in high spirit because of your return”
She looked out the window. She was seated in a white Lamborghini while her chauffeur drove.
The scenery of the pack looked the same even though lots of things had changed. It was still a dense subtropical region. Bushes, trees and plants surrounding them with an open path filled with dried leaves where Lyra and the chauffeur drove on.
Unlike humans, werewolves loved to live in dense forests. After all, they were still part animals. As he drove, she noticed the scenery getting less dense. It was like they were getting to the city. She could see houses surrounded with minimal trees. Tarred roads. It seemed like she was entering the Crescent Pack, the one she had just left.
“Woah...” she muttered breathlessly. The high buildings and modern life was a shock to her. She never thought her pack would ever get this civilized. Well, at least not in her time.
The loud noise of singing, dancing, drums, sounds of musical instruments forming a beautiful symphony was thrilling to Lyra.
Soon, they approached a huge gate which opened on it's own to reveal the two gigantic buildings that stood intimidatingly. The compound was filled with pack members singing and yelling in joy.
“Uh.. I’m.. what..” she stumbled on her words. She was not a savior or anything. Why the hell were they screaming for joy like a God was about to grace their midst.
In one swift motion, the chauffeur was right at her door. He swung it open and she climbed out the car. She stood for a while taking in the scene before her.
Ladies dressed in white began to throw flowers and pebbles on the floor, creating a pathway to a podium where a man stood.
She walked down the aisle smiling nervously at everyone as she walked to the podium.
“All hail Miss Lyra, the restorer of balance and peace to the pack.” A male voice boomed from the podium.
She walked to him smiling. Finally, a familiar face.
“Daddy” she whispered as she hugged him.
“My princess” he muttered.
The shouts and cheers increased in the background as she stared at her Dad.
“Good to see you too” he whispered as he held her in an embrace.
***
“Dad! What was that?” Lyra asked as soon as she had gotten home. The crowds of women, men and children had also returned to their abode.
“Your grande welcome!” he said grinning. “I hoped you'd love it”
Confusion was written all over Lyra’s face as she stared at her Dad. She trudged towards her bedroom as her Dad followed behind.
“I put in a word with one of the Alphas, he spoke to the pack and asked them to welcome you”
“Alphas? I’d love it? Uh.. what..” she stuttered.
“Yeah, you’ve always loved to be treated as a princess, to have your own throne and be a Queen!”
“Yeah, that was your ten year old girl! It's been Ten years Dad!” she explained as she threw herself on the bed situated in the room.
The room had not changed a bit. It looked Just as she had left it ten years ago.
“Where's mum?” she asked as she shut her eyes in an attempt to calm her nerves.
If only her eyes had been open, she would have seen the sadness that crossed her Dad’s face.
“And what did you mean Alphas?” she asked as she flipped her eyes open.
Her Dad took a deep breath and sat beside her.
“Sweetie, go to bed. You have a lot to catch up on” her Dad said as he massaged her scalp.
“Oh c’mon, what did you mean by Alphas?” she muttered. She knew she was tired and needed a rest from the long journey and the tiring ‘grande’ welcome. But she wanted to look strong for her Dad.
“Well, there are two Alphas ruling the pack and you are to pick the right one” her Dad answered as he stood up and adjusted her duvet, tucking her in.
“Hmm” Lyra hummed. She was slowly drifting off to sleep. “What about mum? She did not come to welcome me”
Her Dad closed her eyes and placed a kiss on her forehead. “Go to sleep Lyra. You'll see your mum there”
***
The loud bangs, grunts and scent of blood woke Lyra up.
At first she was lost. She had no idea where she was. Her eyes zoomed into focus and she noticed she was in her room. The room she left ten years ago.
“How the hell did I get…” she was muttering to herself when the memories of the previous night hit her. Leaving the Crescent Pack, coming back to her pack, the Moonstone pack. The grandewelcome. Her Dad and the rest was fuzzy.
“Dude, what the…” a male voice was saying from the living room, when a sound that seemed like a punch, shut him up.
In one swift motion, she was up. She looked at her dressing. She was still in her skinny jeans and leather jacket. The one she wore when she returned the previous day.
Werewolves were blessed with super hearing, super speed, fast healing.
In another swift motion, she was at the door of her living room.
The room was a mess. Broken furnitures, broken glasses, splatters of blood. Some fractures of woods sticking out from the wall.
The two men were at each others throats as her Dad was knocked out unconscious on the ground.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. As she opened her eyes, she rushed in between them holding each at their necks at arms length.
“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TWO AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE!” She thundered as she squeezed tight on their throats sneering at each from left to right.
She could see them struggling for breath while trying to make out words to answer her question.
She threw both of them on the floor as she watched them struggle to breath.
A grunt and whine permeated the air from. It was from her Dad. He was waking up.
“They are men sent by Jasper and Callum to ask for your presence in the Packhouse” her Dad explained as he stood up, dusting his body.
“And who is Jasper and Callum” she asked.
“Jasper is my Alpha”
“Callum is my Alpha”
The two men said simultaneously.
“What?” she asked looking at her Dad for some sort of explanation.
“There are two Alpha's ruling the pack Lyra.” He started. “ Thus, the pack is divided into two factions, Jaspers faction and Callum’s faction. Both are at rivalry. The peace and rest of our pack rests on your shoulders Lyra. You are to select the right Alpha. And I suggest you do that rightly and quickly, or you would be putting the pack in jeopardy under a wrong leadership.”
Lyra stared at her Dad as the realization and understanding of what he said dawned on her. No wonder they welcomed her like that the previous day.
“You two” Lyra said pointing at the men. “Return to your Alpha’s. I have something important to do”
She said and walked back to her room, ignoring the men and the mess.

“Everything doesn’t seem right,” Jasper muttered to himself.
