Olivia

I was walking up the stairs of the pack house, wanting to see my mate, when I felt a weird pain in my stomach. It felt like someone had knocked the air out of my lungs. I held onto the nearest wall and took in a deep breath, greedily filling my lungs with as much air as possible.

I was starting to feel hot suddenly, but after a minute, the pain subsided and I felt a little better. I sighed in relief, thankful to have the pain gone. I separated myself from the wall and walked towards the stairs, once again excited to meet Marcus.

Our mating ceremony, followed by my Luna ceremony, is scheduled for tonight. I had just visited the backyard to check on the preparations and see if they needed help with anything, but my mate had arranged for everything already.

As soon as I reached the third floor, the Alpha’s residence, I felt that weird pain again. Only this time it came with full force, making me grit my teeth. I huffed, taking in as much air as possible, but this time, the pain only intensified. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from screaming.

I didn’t want to grab any unwanted attention, but the pain was becoming more and more unbearable with each passing second. I held on to the wall, trying to keep myself up, and forced my feet to walk towards Marcus’s room.

As I moved closer, I heard weird voices coming from the room. I groaned in pain, clutching my stomach, but willed myself to open the door to my mate’s room. I wished I hadn’t. I was met with the horrifying sight of Marcus mating with someone else.

“Ah! Fuck! Oh yeah, just like that baby,” the woman screamed, and Marcus growled in response.

Their naked bodies moved in sync as they made vivid sounds. The room was filled with moans and grunts as they mated. A loud scream filled the room, and they jumped apart on the bed the woman’s face became clear as she pulled the quilt around her.

Only then did I realize that the loud, horrifying scream had escaped my mouth. Marcus and his bedmate looked shocked for a few seconds but they were quick to mask their expressions. They was no sign of embarrassment or regret on their faces, even for a second.

“What the fuck!” The woman growled in anger as she glared at me.

“Emma?” I slightly whispered, my hand holding onto my chest, trying to ease the pain in my heart as tears streamed down my eyes. I couldn’t believe that Marcus would betray me like this with the one person in this pack that I thought was my friend. “W— wh— why?” I stuttered, slightly rubbing my chest to get rid of the life-draining pain of betrayal.

She looked at me scornfully, scoffing at my question before getting up from the bed. She walked to Marcus and wrapped her arms around his neck, giving him a kiss on the lips. Marcus hesitated for a second as if he was conflicted but he did nothing to stop her, instead his arms wrapped around her waist, as he kissed her back.

All I could do was stand frozen on my feet and watch them make out as they put on a show. I thought my mate would always love and care for me, but that was far from reality. It felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest and squeezed painfully.

He knew I would feel everything, and still, he did it, that too on the day of our mating ceremony. They broke apart after what felt like forever and turned to look at me. Marcus had a weird look on his face, while Emma only looked at me with a mocking smile. To even think I was going to let a cheating bastard like him mark me made me sick to my stomach.

“What? You thought you’re something special?” Emma snickered while I looked at them with tearful eyes. “Did you really think Marcus would accept you as a mate and be tied to you forever?” She continued.

“The only reason he will ever mark you or even do anything with you is that you are his mate. But that doesn’t change the fact that you are a nobody. Marcus would never settle for a nobody like you.” Her words sliced through my heart.

I always wanted my mate to love me, and to make sure that happened, I left everything behind for him. Never in my entire life did I ever think that my mate would hate me just because I was a normal she-wolf. Even though everything was in front of me, my heart refused to believe it and I looked at Marcus hopefully. I thought he was going to deny her claims and tell me he regrets it, but I was wrong. I was so wrong.

“What are you looking at?” Emma growled, standing in front of Marcus in a protective stance, making me let out a humorless laugh. “We thought about keeping it a secret for a while, but it looks like we don’t have to anymore. At least now I can put you in your place. Right, babe?” She looked up at Marcus with a smirk.

“Olivia, listen to me. It’s not what it looks like.” He defended, and Emma looked at him in surprise. Does he really think he can lie about everything now? There was not a single trace of guilt or regret in his eyes.

“Really? Then tell me what it is, Marcus?” I asked. My voice sounded bitter, broken even, but there was no mistaking the anger and hurt it held.

“There’s no point hiding it, babe, you know that.” Emma rolled her eyes.

“I think you are right. What am I even worried about?” Marcus chuckled, and finally gave up making excuses.

“Don’t you understand? I am an Alpha! I need a powerful luna to help me rule my pack! Not an ordinary, weak, useless girl who just got out of some village. You are nothing to me.” I never thought Marcus would be such a narcissist. He talked as if being an Alpha is the hardest thing in the world, but I was the one who helped him with his pack business and affairs even though I wasn’t the Luna yet but he’s just been busy playing!

He continued mocking me, his voice laced with sarcasm. “You can’t imagine how disappointed I was when I noticed the Moon Goddess has paired me with you.”

“Why? Then why didn’t you just reject me in the first place? Since you never even loved me from the beginning?” I asked. I wanted to know why he misled me when he didn’t even want me as his mate.

“I would have if I could, but I need a mate to bear me an heir! So the only purpose of your life was to give birth to my most precious heir!.” His words made me realize that I have been living in fantasy all along. I was so into my dream of having a mate, I never really paid attention to what really was happening.

Emma cut in with a smirk on her face. “Did you really think you could become a Luna of this pack? Despite your weak self, you are such a pathetic gold digger, aren’t you? Trying to be something you are not by using the mate bond.”

Looks like she had planned to become the Luna of this pack from the beginning but never got the opportunity. “The Moon Goddess made a mistake. If anything, Marcus deserved a strong she-wolf like me, not a weak nobody like you.” Her words made me want to laugh out loud. Indeed, they deserved each other.

“You come from some unknown little pack no one ever heard about, and I bet you don’t even know who your parents are. You’re probably a bastard.” She continued to insult me while all Marcus did was stand there and look at me with disgust. I bit my lip, trying to stop myself from growling. I could feel my Lycan, Eira, come to the surface, but I pushed her down. How did I end up with this kind of person? They disgust me.

“You’re right. Both of you really deserve each other.” I chuckled, shaking my head as I wiped my tears. “But you know what? I will not stay here to watch you two fuck each other or act like a breeder for you,” I said in a firm voice.

“Really? What are you going to do? Complaint about me? To whom? I am the Alpha already.” He chuckled with an evil smile on his face.

“I don’t think that’s needed.” I smiled. I knew what I had to do.

“I, Olivia Evan, reject you, Alpha Marcus Willians as my mate and Alpha. I hereby, reject my position as the Luna of the Bronze Ridge Pack and free myself from the mate and pack bond.” There was no way in hell that I was going to let myself be linked with a cheating asshole like him.

Welcome to reading this book! Let me know if you have any suggestions and I'll take them into consideration. Guess what Olivia will do to take revenge! And no worries, Marcus is absolutely not our Male Lead. He'll be the man girls dream of, a man that only lives in novels.
