Olivia

“What the fuck do you want, Marcus?” I questioned, looking at him with a cold expression on my face.

“Is that any way to greet your mate? Where is my welcome kiss?” I couldn’t help but feel disgusted by his words. The day I kiss him willingly will be the day I kill myself for being stupid and dumb.

“You’re way over your head, aren’t you? To even think you would get a kiss from me?” I scoffed, trying to get as far away from him as possible.

“Why didn’t you tell me who you were? I can’t believe I am mated to a Lycan Princess. The next in line Lycan Queen and that makes me the next in line Lycan King as your mate.” He could only dream about being anywhere near me. There is no way in hell am I going to let that happen.

“Let me get one thing straight here. I don’t fucking care about what you think. You are not my mate because you're a cheating bastard that doesn’t deserve to have a mate. Dream as much as you want, but you are never going to have me as your mate because I REJECTED YOU.” I growled at him, and he flinched in response but he quickly covered it, trying to look unfazed.

“You are my mate, and I won’t accept your rejection. You will stay with me.” He replied, and I rolled my eyes in response. He has lost his brain cells to even think I care about what he wants.

“Is that right, Alpha Marcus?” I heard Arthur’s deep voice as his hand wrapped around me. I raised my head and found him looking at me with a gentle gaze. Then, I remembered our plan and managed to gain some sense by pushing down the anger I felt towards Marcus. Arthur was right, it’s time to start the show.

Arthur glared daggers at Marcus and if looks could kill, Marcus would be six feet under the ground already. “You think so high and mighty about yourself, don’t you?” He questioned, and Marcus gulped, clearly intimidated by Arthur’s presence.

“Alpha Arthur, I didn’t know you knew Olivia.” Marcus said, his eyes following Arthur’s arm around me. He apparently wanted to say something about that but of course he knew Arthur’s identity as the Alpha King and didn’t have the balls to confront him. “And she is my mate. I don’t think it’s a crime to persuade your mate. Besides, according to werewolf laws—” He wanted to continue, but was interrupted by Arthur.

“Do I have to remind you about the werewolf laws and what happens to a wolf that cheats on their mate?” Arthur growled, and Marcus looked baffled, not knowing how to respond.

“She is my mate, and I deserve a chance.” He defended. I could hear the whispers around at the turn of events. No one actually expected this to happen at the party, but it did. All thanks to Marcus and his stupid ego that wanted to gloat about being my mate.

“You had your chance, and you blew it. You don’t deserve her, and you will never deserve her because you are nobody in front of her. You and your partner here are nothing compared to Olivia.” Arthur was clearly angry, and I could see he was trying everything he could to not snap Marcus’s neck. “And from what I know about Olivia. She wouldn’t want to do anything with an unfaithful person like you. I am sure she will never even think about you again. You want to know why? Because you are a fucking cheater that can’t respect the scared mate bond created by the Moon Goddess.”

I held his hand, trying to calm him down, it’s all Marcus’s fault, and Arthur doesn’t have to be wasting his time with a stupid man like him. Marcus looked around, embarrassed that he was being exposed in front of the crowd, the same crowd who had praised my beauty and Olivia. This was not his pack where people will bow their heads and buy his cheap lies.

“Olivia is born to be a queen, and should be treated as one. None of us are anything more than an admirer in front of her. She deserves every good thing there is in this world, and that is definitely not you, Alpha Marcus.” My little gesture seemed to have reminded London of our plan, his tone changed. Now he sounded more like a man in love than a friend.

It was kind of weird even though I know he’s acting as my boyfriend. But I know he meant it. I always knew that he would have my back. Marcus’s face turned pale, realising his helplessness. He looked around finding no support whatsoever.

“If you don’t want the council getting involved in this matter and get the punishment you deserve. Then you better set her free right this instant. Otherwise you would face the wrath of two Kings, and I don’t think you would want your pack to suffer for your mistakes.” Arthur threatened.

Marcus looked around once again as if trying to find some sort of support, but no one from the audience of onlookers seemed interested enough to even look at him. Sighing in defeat, he turned towards me. He looked at me with hateful eyes, probably cursing me in his mind for his humiliation and misery, but he made his own bed.

“You are right. There is no point in extending this matter anymore. I apologise for any trouble I caused, and I definitely don’t want my pack to pay the price of my mistakes.” Though he apologised, his voice held hostility. I don’t care about what he thinks or feels. I just want him to accept my rejection and set me free.

“I, Alpha Marcus Willians of the Bronze Ridge Pack, accept Olivia Evans' rejection.” He spat. His words broke the last thread of the mate bond that connected me to him. I felt relieved and at peace.

Just as I was relishing the peace, I smelt a familiar yet strange scent. It was the scent of forest and rain mixed with cinnamon. My eyes widened as I realised what was happening. This wasn’t my first time feeling this, but it was stronger than the previous time.

As if on instinct, my eyes landed on Arthur. He was looking at me with sparkling eyes, smiling as though he found everything. Just then, I felt my Lycan stir in my head, and screamed a word I never thought I would ever hear again.

“MATE!” she growled, running circles in my head, making me feel dizzy and the words unconsciously left from my lips. I could hear the gasps of the people around me, but I couldn’t focus on anything else.

“MINE!” Arthur let out a happy, possessive growl, as if staking his claim on me. There was only one thing going in my head on repeat.

ARTHUR IS MY MATE!
